Centre notifies appointment of chief Justices of Bombay and Andhra Pradesh HCs

The Centre Government on Monday notified the appointment of Chief Justices of Bombay and Andhra Pradesh High Courts.

According to the Ministry of Law and Justice's notification, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President of India is pleased to appoint Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Judge of the Allahabad High Court, as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.

The Government also cleared the name of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Judge of the Bombay High Court as Andhra Pradesh High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium comprising the Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna recommended has recently his name.



ICC announces first-ever umpire education course for aspiring match officials

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced the release of its first-ever education course for aspiring Match Officials - the ICC Umpire Foundation Certificate.

As per a press release from ICC, the entry-level course is designed to introduce learners to the basic fundamentals of umpiring so that they can gain the knowledge and the confidence required to officiate games at the club level.

This newly released resource is completely free to access and delivered entirely online through an innovative micro-learning approach, which enables courses to be completed at any pace and through short, sharp modules whether at home on a computer or on the move via a mobile device.



Former Australian wicketkeeper Brian Taber passes away at 83

Former Australian wicketkeeper Brian Taber passed away at the age of 83 on Friday, as per cricket.com.au.

Taber was one of the best wicketkeepers that Australia has ever produced. He had played 16 Test matches for Australia between 1966 and 1970.

The former Australian great made his Test debut against South Africa in Johannesburg and took seven catches and a stumping. He faced sides like England, India and West Indies during his career.



India Gifts Missile Corvette INS Kirpan To Vietnam

India on Saturday gifted the indigenously-built missile corvette INS Kirpan to its strategic partner Vietnam with the ambition of boosting its reach in the South China Sea amid the common concern over China's increasingly aggressive behaviour in the region.

India’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar presided over decommissioning followed by the Handing Over Ceremony of INS Kirpan to Vietnam People’s Navy at Cam Ranh, Vietnam. This is the first time that India handed over a fully functional corvette to any friendly foreign country.



Minerva Academy FC Create History With Gothia Cup B13 Triumph, Become First Indian Team to Win Title

India’s Minerva Academy FC scripted history as they became the first team from the subcontinental nation to lift the prestigious Gothia Cup in Sweden.

The Gothia Cup, an international youth football tournament organized has been held annually at Gothenburg in the Scandinavian country of Sweden. The prestigious tournament is organised under the aegis of Allsvenskan club BK Hacken.

The Indian team triumphed in the B13 category of the illustrious event with a 3-1 win over Brazilian side Ordin FC in the final of the tournament on Saturday.



UP Govt starts 10-day campaign to ensure safety, respect, self-reliance among women

In its ongoing pursuit to ensure the safety, respect and self-reliance of women in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has started a 10-day special campaign.

The aim of the campaign, which is led by the Women and Child Safety Organization on the instruction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is to empower women of the state.

The campaign, which started on Friday, July 21 will go on till July 30. Additionally, this campaign will be run between 21st to 30th of every month.

Furthermore, this campaign will empower the Mission Shakti Abhiyan already being implemented in Uttar Pradesh for the safety of women.



Chhattisgarh signs MOU with Tata Technologies to transform 36 ITIs into Industry 4.0 Technology Hub

The Chhattisgarh government has singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 1,188.36 crore with Tata Technologies to transform 36 government ITIs into an Industry 4.0 Technology Hub.

The MoU was signed between the state’s Department of Technical Education and Skill Development and Tata Technologies in the presence of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

The collaboration will offer six new trades and 23 new short-term courses in 36 ITIs, with state-of-the-art technical workshops and trainer arrangements, said officials.



National Broadcasting Day 2023

Entertainment, music and news all seem to be at our fingertips today, but for a long period in modern history, accessing such services was a difficult task for most people because of a lack of relevant infrastructure. In India, a major milestone in this area dates back to 100 years ago – when the first broadcast was made, under colonial rule.

National Broadcasting Day in India is marked on July 23 as symbolic of the Radio Club of Bombay (established by some businessmen) making the first-ever broadcast in the country in June 1923. The broadcast was followed by the setting up of the Calcutta Radio Club five months later.



5th Helicopter & Small Aircraft Summit to be held on July 25 in Madhya Pradesh

The 5th Helicopter & Small Aircraft Summit will be held on the 25th of July 2023 at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. The event will be jointly organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Pawan Hans Ltd., and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The Summit will be inaugurated by Chief Minister, of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Union Minister of Civil Aviation & Steel Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. The objective of the Summit includes enhancing the scope of the UDAN scheme in remote and hilly terrains. The event's theme is "Reaching the Last Mile: Regional Connectivity through Helicopters & Small Aircraft".

The Indian’s lost the opening game 17-21, but made a remarkable come back to win the next games and win the title.
