MHA permits foreign tourists to visit Hanle for nomadic fest
Foreign tourists have been granted permission to visit and stay at Hanle in Changthang region for the Ladakh nomadic festival on July 15 and 16.
The ministry of Home affairs has granted permission to foreign tourists to visit and stay at Hanle in Changthang region, specifically for the upcoming Ladakh nomadic festival.
The festival is scheduled to be held on July 15 and 16 at Hanle in Changthang region.
G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies FCBD meeting begins in Gandhinagar
As part of India’s G20 presidency, G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies FCBD meeting began in Gandhinagar today. The two-day meeting is being organised ahead of the third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBGs) meeting which is scheduled to take place at Gandhinagar in Gujarat during 17 and 18th July. Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Dr. Shaktikanta Das, will jointly chair the FMCBG meeting.
FCBD meeting began in the presence of secretary of department of Economic Affairs, Ajay Seth. Talking about the G-20 finance meetings, Mr. Seth said more than 500 delegates including Governors, Deputy Governors, Ministers and Heads from G-20 nations, invited countries and international organisations will participate in the meetings. He said the focus of the Deputies’ meeting will be to discuss the outcome document for the consideration of FMCBGs.
NITI Aayog to release Export Preparedness Index report for 2022
NITI Aayog is set to release the third edition of Export Preparedness Index (EPI) for States and UTs for the year 2022 on Monday.
The report will have details about India’s export performance amid the prevailing global trade context in 2021-22, followed by an overview of the country’s sector-specific export performance.
The report will also highlight the need to develop districts as export hubs in the country and undertakes a district-level analysis of merchandise exports.
Union minister Bhupender Yadav launches mangrove plantation drive in TN’s Kovalam
Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Bhupender Yadav visited Tamil Nadu on Friday to launch a mangrove plantation programme in Kovalam creek in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu district.
The drive is a part of the Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats and Tangible Incomes (MISHTI) scheme of the Government of India and around 100 people, including students, participated in the event. The officials noted that the plantation drive is a part of ongoing “Hariyali Mahotsav” with a particular focus on mangroves.
“Joined the celebration of Hariyali Mahotsav in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. Led a mangrove plantation drive along with about hundred other people as part of the Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats and Tangible Incomes (MISHTI) scheme envisioned by PM Shri @narendramodi ji,” the Union Minister wrote on Twitter.
PM Modi in France: India to open new consulate in Marseille
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 14 July said that India has decided to open a new consulate in Marseille in France. His announcement came while addressing the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris. PM Modi also said that Saint Thiruvalluvar's statue will be installed in France. He said a statue of the great Thiruvalluvar in France is an honour for India.
The Prime Minister also noted that French football player Kylian Mbappe is a "superhit" among the youth in India and added that the player “is probably known to more people in India than in France".
Bank of Israel joins the International Committee on Credit Reporting (ICCR)
In November 2022, at the winter meeting of the International Committee on Credit Reporting (ICCR), a vote was held among the Committee’s members, and it was decided unanimously to approve the Bank of Israel’s accession as a member of the organization.
Since November, the World Bank has taken internal steps to approve the Bank of Israel’s membership, and following the convening of the spring session of the Committee in June, the World Bank issued an official approval for the Bank of Israel’s accession.

India to resume operations at stalled hydrocarbon block in Iraq
At a time when Iraq has emerged as a major supplier of crude oil to India, the Centre is looking at resuming operations of state-run ONGC Videsh Ltd’s (OVL) hydrocarbon exploration block in Iraq, which has been under force majeure since 2003, said two people with knowledge of the development.
One of the persons said Indian energy companies may look at investing in oil and gas assets in the West Asian country.
“Several aspects would be considered for resumption of operations at the stalled project and investments, including the security situation. There are some issues on which clarity would be required," said this person.
Google Pay launches UPI Lite to boost small value transactions
Google Pay, the second largest Unified Payment Interface (UPI) platform in the country has officially added support for UPI Lite payment, which allows users to make small payments without using the pin. UPI lite technology allows users to make fast payments even during peak hours with a higher success rate when compared to the conventional UPI payment.
Google Pay allows existing users to create a UPI lite wallet within the same app, which can be loaded up to Rs 2,000. It also enables users to make transactions worth up to Rs 200 without requiring a pin. Currently, there is a limitation, where, one can only load up to Rs 2,000 twice a day, hence, the spending limit on the Google Pay UPI lite is limited to Rs 4,000 per day.
