RBI cancels registration of four NBFCs, 11 surrender certificates
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Thursday said it has cancelled the certification of registration of four non-banking finance companies (NBFC) two from Telangana and one each from Kerala and Uttar Pradesh. And the entities will not transact the business of a shadow bank, as defined under RBI Act, 1934.
Separately, four NBFCs surrendered their registration certificates following a decision to exit from the non-banking finance business. Three NBFCs ceased operations following corporate actions such as amalgamation, dissolution, merger or voluntary strike-off. The remaining four NBFCs have surrendered their registration certificates because they do not require registration under the criteria prescribed for an unregistered core investment company (CIC), the central bank said in a release.
Gadkari lays foundation stone for three NH projects worth ?2,900 cr in Andhra Pradesh
Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stone for three national highway projects in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, the ministry of road transport & highways said. These projects encompass a combined length of 87 kilometers and carry a total cost of ₹2,900 crore.
According to the ministry, the first undertaking is the Naidupate-Turpu Kanupur Section of NH-71 spans 35 km and requires an investment of ₹1,399 crore. The second project is the Chillakuru cross-Krishnapatnam Port South Gate Section via Turpu Kanupur on NH-516W, covering a distance of 36 km and valued at ₹909 crore.

The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, being the Nodal Department for welfare of senior citizens, is implementing various programs and schemes. National Action Plan for Senior Citizen (NAPSrc) had been revamped, renamed as Atal VayoAbhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) and subsumed in April 2021.
Sex education to be compulsory in Irish schools
Lessons in relationships and sex education (RSE) are to be compulsory for 15 to 18 year olds at schools in the Republic of Ireland.
The move is planned as part of changes to the social, personal and health education (SPHE) for senior pupils.
Lessons will be "taught in a way that LGBTQ+ identities, relationships and families are fully integrated", according to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA).

International Financial Services Centres Authority inks MoU with IIML–EIC to boost FinTech support
International Financial Services Centers Authority (IFSCA) and IIML-EIC, have signed a MoU to collaborate in supporting and facilitating FinTech and TechFin entities.
“The Memorandum of Understanding aims to put in place a framework for cooperation and understanding between IFSCA and IIML-EIC to collaborate in supporting and facilitating FinTech and TechFin entities,” an official release said.
It said IFSCA is responsible for the development and regulation of international financial services, including that of the insurance sector, in the IFSC (International Financial Services Centre) which is treated as a separate international financial jurisdiction, distinct from rest of India.
Assam govt employees to serve for three-five years in places designated as ‘Durgam’ areas
Assam government on Wednesday decided that every government employee has to work for a period of 3-5 years during the course of their service in certain geographical areas designated as ‘Durgam’ areas in the state.
The decision was taken during the state cabinet meeting held on Wednesday in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Announcing the cabinet decisions, Assam Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu said that, in-principle approval for the ‘Sugam to Durgam’ scheme for better citizen-centric governance and service delivery.
Elon Musk launches artificial intelligence firm xAI

Billionaire Elon Musk's xAI on Wednesday announced the formation of the artificial intelligence (AI) start-up with the launch of its website, unveiling a team made up of engineers who have worked at companies from Alphabet-owned Google to Microsoft and OpenAI.
The start-up will be led by Musk, the CEO of Tesla and owner of Twitter, who has said on several occasions that the development of AI should be paused and that the sector needs regulation.
"Announcing formation of @xAI to understand reality," Musk said in a tweet on Wednesday.
