1 Young Bangladeshi boy wins special prize in Global Art Competition conducted by ICCR

A six year old Bangladeshi boy Anzar Mustaeen Ali won a special prize of USD 1000 for his artwork in the global art competition organised by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR). 

The ICCR had launched a global painting competition named ‘United Against CORONA- Express through Art’ which attracted 8000 artwork entries from around the world. After the first round of competition 210 artworks were shortlisted. The final jury evaluated and decided the winners from each category such as Indian and Foreign, Professional/Amateur/Children in four different sections: Contemporary Art; Folk and Tribal Art; Cartoons and Illustrations and Digital and New Age Art. The maximum number of entries for the global competition were received from Bangladesh, said a press release issued by the High Commission of India in Dhaka on Tuesday.

High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami handed over the prize money of USD 1000 to Master Anzar Mustaeen Ali in a function held at the Chancery in Dhaka on Tuesday. He congratulated Master Anzar in the presence of his family and officials of the High Commission. Six other art works from Bangladesh were selected for showcasing at the digital art exhibition of ICCR.

2 Arjun Munda launches two Centers of Excellence for Tribal Welfare

Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda launched two Centers of Excellence for Tribal Welfare today. These centers were launched in collaboration between the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Art of Living through video conference.
 
Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Munda informed that the one Center will be engaged in the field of training tribal farmers in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra on sustainable natural farming while the second one will be working towards strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions in 5 districts covering 30 Gram Panchayats and 150 villages of Jharkhand.
 
Mr. Munda said, the Union government is fully committed to the welfare of tribal people in the country. Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh, along with senior officials of the Tribal Affairs Ministry were also present on the occasion.

3 PM Modi to interact with beneficiaries of PM SVANidhi Scheme from UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the beneficiaries of PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme from Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday via video conferencing.

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will also be present on the occasion.

PM SVANidhi scheme was launched on 1st of June this year to help poor street vendors, impacted by COVID-19, resume livelihood activities.

Till date, a total of more than 24 lakh applications have been received under the scheme, out of which more than 12 lakh have been sanctioned and about 5.35 lakh loans have been disbursed.

In Uttar Pradesh, more than six lakh applications have been filed, out of which about 3.27 lakh have been sanctioned and 1.87 lakh loans have been disbursed.

The interaction will be witnessed by beneficiaries of the Scheme from across the state.

4 Vigilance Awareness Week begins across country today

The Vigilance Awareness Week, 2020 will be observed from Tuesday till 2nd of November. This year the theme is - Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India).

Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year during the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls on 31st of October.

The CBI is hosting a 3-day national conference on vigilance and anti-corruption beginning from Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference via video conferencing Tuesday evening.

The CBI organizes this national conference coinciding with ‘Vigilance Awareness Week.

The three day conference will discuss various issues including the Challenges in investigation in foreign jurisdictions; Preventive Vigilance as a Systemic Check against Corruption; Systemic improvements for financial inclusion and prevention of bank frauds.

5 Jal Jeevan Mission: Water supply schemes inaugurated on Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated two water supply projects for two villages under Jal Jeevan Mission. The two villages on the Indo Myanmar border are remote and once totally insurgent infested, now getting regular water supply under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Khangbarol village of Khengjoy sub division, Chandel, an aspirational district in Manipur is situated 69 km away from district headquarter. The Village lies about 30 km from the Indo Myanmar border. There are 82 households in the village. The water supply system has been designed keeping in mind the projected population of about 1,000 till 2041. With an estimated cost of Rs. 60 lakh, this gravity based water supply system ensured tap water connection to all 82 households with present population of about 450. There is a perennial source of water from "Khangbarollok" located at a distance of 6 km away from the treatment site. As the source is located at a higher elevation than the treatment site, gravity based water supply scheme was taken up.

6 UP govt secures first rank in disbursing loans under PM Swanidhi Scheme

Uttar Pradesh government has secured the first rank in central government's one of the most ambitious schemes - the PM Atmanirbhar Nidhi Scheme (SVANidhi Scheme) by approving the highest number of loans under the scheme in the country.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute loans to around 3 lakh beneficiaries and will interact with a few of them tomorrow via video conferencing. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present on the occasion.

State has ranked first in all the categories - Applications, Sanctions and Disbursements of the loans under the scheme.  As many as 6,22,167 applications were received under the scheme in the state which is highest in the country, out of which sanctions were given to 3,46,150 applicants while the loans were disbursed to 2,26,728 beneficiaries.

Seven cities of the state also find place in the list of top 10 cities of the country. Varanasi, Lucknow and Aligarh are the top three cities in the list even as other cities of the state include Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad and Kanpur. The scheme was launched on June 1, 2020, by the Central Government to help the street vendors resume their livelihood activities that were impacted by COVID-19.

He will also inaugurate the Ropeway at Girnar on the occasion.

Kisan Suryodaya Yojana

To provide day-time power supply for irrigation, the Gujarat Government under Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani had recently announced the ‘Kisan Suryodaya Yojana’. Under this scheme, farmers will be able to avail power supply from 5 AM to 9 PM. The state government has allocated a budget of Rs.3500 crore for installing transmission infrastructure under this scheme by 2023. 234 ‘66-Kilowatt’ transmission lines, with a total length of 3490 circuit kilometers (CKM) will be established under the project, in addition to 220 KV substations.

9 Martyrs remembered on Police Commemoration Day

Police Commemoration Day is observed on October 21 every year to pay respects to the 10 policemen who were killed by Chinese troops in an ambush at Hot Springs area near Ladakh on October 21, 1959

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Villupuram Range) K. Ejilearassane led police personnel in Villupuram, Cuddalore and Kallakurichi districts in paying homage to their colleagues who died in the line of duty on the occasion of the Police Commemoration Day here on Wednesday.

After the commemoration parade in Villupuram, Collector A. Annadurai, DIG K. Ejilearassane and Superintendent of Police K. Radhakrishnan placed wreaths at the Martyrs’ column in the Armed Reserve (AR) police grounds.

In Cuddalore district, Superintendent of Police M. Sree Abhinav led the police in paying homage at the AR grounds. The solemn occasion drew to a close with a 21 gun salute by AR police Inspector Kumar.

10 Police Commemoration Day being observed across country

The Police Commemoration Day is being observed today. The day is observed on 21st October every year to honor the loyalty and supreme sacrifice of police personnel for the nation. It was on this day in 1959 when CRPF ed a saga of valour and sacrifice in the inaccessible, inhospitable terrain of Hot Springs in Ladakh. A patrol party of twenty personnel of CRPF and Intelligence Bureau had gone to search for a missing reconnaissance party when it was ambushed by the Chinese Army.

In spite of the sudden attack and disadvantageous tactical position, they fought valiantly against the Chinese army personnel who were in large numbers and heavily armed. In this battle, ten CRPF men were martyred in defense of the country.

Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to martyred police personnel at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi this morning.
