1 Government permits Wifi on Flights

Government has permitted airlines operating in India to provide in-flight Wi-Fi services to passengers.

An official notification stated that the Pilot-in-Command may permit the access of Internet services by passengers on board an aircraft in flight, through Wi-Fi on board, when laptop, smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, e-reader or a point of sale device is used in flight mode or airplane mode.

2 Dronacharya awardee athletics coach Joginder Singh Saini passes away

Veteran athletics coach and Dronacharya awardee Joginder Singh Saini, who groomed some of India's finest track and field stars, died in Patiala today due to age-related problems. He was 90. Saini, who remained the chief national athletics coach for many years from the 1970s to 90s, was not keeping well for the past few days.

Born on January 1, 1930 in Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, Saini was a science graduate and became an athletics coach in 1954. He became the chief coach of the then Amateur Athletics Federation of India in 1970.


Saini received the Dronacharya Award in 1997 for his contribution to Indian athletics. He was the chief coach of the Indian athletics team which won 18 medals, including eight golds, at the 1978 Asian Games.

3 Rafael Nadal calls Acapulco title an 'important moment'

Rafael Nadal felt his latest success at the Mexican Open was an important moment in his season after he made an impressive return to action.

Following a quarterfinal exit to Dominic Thiem at the Australian Open that saw him lose the world number one ranking, the Spaniard earned his third Acapulco title without dropping a set.

Nadal saw off Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-2 in the final of the ATP 500 event for his 85th Tour-level title and first of 2020, taking momentum from his enjoyable spell in Mexico.

"After not competing since Australia, it's an important week for me and an important moment," said the 33-year-old.

"I couldn't be happier. I played a great event from the beginning to the end. I played solid, with the right intensity, the right passion and my forehand worked well.

"This title doesn't mean that I will have a great season. It means another good start. It gives me confidence and allows me to be in a privileged position in the ATP Race [To London].

4 Ties with Bangladesh India Highest Priority: Foreign Secretary

India gives highest priority to its relationship with Bangaladesh. Speaking at a seminar in Dhaka on Monday the Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that Bangladesh retains the highest position in India’s neighbourhood first policy.

He said India seeks closest possible ties with Bangladesh. The Foreign Secretary said that Bangladesh is the largest development partner of India in the world with close t dollar 10 billion Line Of credit for infrastructure and other projects in the country.

Speaking about the river water sharing between India and Bangladesh he said that serious dialogue has resumed on sharing of 54 common rivers in August last year. He said India is committed to finding solution to the water sharing problem and improved water management.

Talking about the NRC in Assam he assured that it is an issue entirely internal to India. He said it will have no implications for Bangladesh. Foreign secretary Harsh vardhan Shringla stressed the need for closer defence ties between the two countries. He said India is willing to share all the military hardware being produced in India.

8 First Khelo India University Games concludes in Bhubaneswar; Panjab University, Chandigarh tops medals tally

The Khelo India University Games concluded in Bhubaneswar, Odisha last night. Panjab University, Chandigarh took home the champions trophy-winning 46 medals including 17 gold, 19 silver, and 10 bronze.

Savitribai Phule Pune University claimed the second position and Punjabi University, Patiala declared as the second runners up. Panjab University won a total of 46 medals while Savitribai Phule Pune University won 37 medals including 17 gold, 11 silver, and 9 bronze medals.

Punjabi University, Patiala won 33 medals including 13 gold, 6 silver, and 14 bronze medals. A total of 113 universities took part in the games.

Prime Minister said, his government is doing a lot of work for making people's life easy and comfortable. Mr Modi, distributed 27 thousand assistive aids and devices to senior citizens and Divyangjans at Prayagraj.

Mr. Modi said that during last 5 years, 9 thousand camps for Divyangs have been organised and appliances worth 900 crores were distributed.
