1 HM Amit Shah launches mascot & anthem for 36th National Games in Ahmedabad

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the mascot and the anthem for the 36th National Games at Trans Stadia in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening. The mascot is named as Savaj which means cub in Gujarati. The anthem is based on the theme of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

The National Games will be organised between 29th of this month to 12th of next month at six cities in the state namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.

Addressing the gathering, the Union Home Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left no stone unturned to promote sports in the country.

2 Five JDU MLAs from Manipur join BJP

Five Janata Dal (United) MLAs from Manipur have formally joined BJP in the presence of party president JP Nadda in New Delhi. The JD(U) MLAs who joined the BJP are Kh Joykishan, N Sanate, Md Achab Uddin, L M Khaute and Thangjam Arunkumar.

JD-U won six seats in the  60-member State Assembly in the recently held Assembly elections while the BJP secured a majority with 32 seats.

Welcoming them into the party-fold, Mr Nadda said, all MLAs possess qualities that will greatly benefit the BJP.

3 PM Modi inaugurates and lays foundation stone of various projects worth around Rs 3800 crores in Mangaluru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated and laid the foundation stone for eight projects worth 3800 crore rupees in Mangaluru today in Karnataka. He remotely dedicated to the nation mechanised Berth No.14 for container and other cargo at the New Mangalore Port Trust.

He laid the foundation stone for the LPG and Bulk Liquid POL facility and storage tanks at the Port Authority. He also laid the foundation stone for a fishing harbour at Kulai. He remotely dedicated the BSVI Upgradation project and seawater desalination project of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited. He also distributed Pradhan Mantri Kisan Cards to fishermen and symbolically handed over sanction letters for high-speed deep sea fishing vessels.

4 National Education Policy 2020 to reorient India’s Education Policy as per global benchmarks: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh

Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh has said that the National Education Policy- 2020 will reorient India’s Education Policy as per global benchmarks.

He was addressing the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Education Summit in New Delhi today.

Dr Singh said, National Education Policy is the biggest path-breaking reform in India since independence as the new policy is not only progressive and visionary but is also in keeping with the emerging needs and requirements of 21st century India.

5 India becomes fifth largest Economy of world with IMF's growth forecast of more than 7% this year

India has leaped past the United Kingdom to become the fifth-largest economy in the world. International Monetary Fund said, India took a lead in the final three months of 2021 to become the fifth-biggest economy. According to GDP figures from IMF, India extended its lead in the first quarter. IMF said, the Indian economy is forecast to grow more than 7 per cent this year. A world-beating rebound in Indian stocks this quarter has just seen their weighting rise to the second spot in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, trailing only China’s.

Britain has dropped behind India to become the world's sixth largest economy, delivering a further blow to the government in London as it grapples with a brutal cost-of-living shock.

Born in 1959, Justice DY Chandrachud was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 13th May 2016. Earlier, he served as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. He had completed his LLB from Campus Law Centre from Delhi University and obtained LLM degree and a Doctorate in Juridical Sciences from Harvard Law School in USA.

7 PM Modi commissions first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in Kochi

Prime Minister commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard in Kochi and also unveiled the new Naval Ensign for the Indian Navy yesterday. He called it a red letter day in the history of India. He said, be it territorial security or economic security, India is witnessing huge opportunities. The Prime Minister exuded the pride that every Indian is experiencing on the commissioning of INS Vikrant. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed the induction of the fully made-in-India aircraft carrier INS Vikrant as a historic day for India. Sharing a video on his Twitter handle today, Mr. Modi said, words will not be able to describe the feeling of pride that he felt yesterday when he was on board INS Vikrant.

8 Padma Awards 2023 nominations open till 15th September

The process to file a nomination for the 2023 Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian honour, is open till 15th  September. Home Ministry said, the nominations and recommendations for Padma Awards will be received online only on the Rashtriya Puruskar Portal. The award will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day next year.

The Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are amongst the highest civilian awards in the country. Instituted in 1954, these Awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year. The award seeks to recognize work of distinction and is given for distinguished and exceptional achievements in all fields. This includes Art, Literature and Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, Trade and Industry. All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position, or sex are eligible for these Awards.

9 In New Delhi, HM Amit Shah will unveil the "CAPF eAwas" web portal

Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Central Armed Police Forces' eAwas web-portal in New Delhi today

Ministry of Home Affairs said, increasing the Housing Satisfaction Ratio for CAPFs personnel is one of the priority areas of the Government. 

In order to operationalise the revised policy of allotment and to also bring transparency to the allotment process, a common web-portal 'CAPF eAwas' has been developed. The web-portal will enable online registration and allotment of residential quarters to eligible personnel of CAPFs and Assam Rifles.

10 PM Modi to commission indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in Kochi this morning

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission the first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi today. Designed by the Indian Navy's in-house Warship Design Bureau and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, INS Vikrant has been built with with the state of the art automation features and is the largest ship ever built in the maritime history of India. With the commissioning of Vikrant, India will have two operational Aircraft Carriers, which will bolster the maritime security of the nation. During the event, Mr. Modi will also unveil the new Naval Ensign (Nishaan), doing away with the colonial past and befitting the rich Indian maritime heritage. In a tweet, Prime Minister said that the 2nd of September is a landmark day for India’s efforts to become Aatmanirbhar in the Defence sector.

Thereafter around 1:30 PM, Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around 3,800 crore rupees in Mangaluru, Karnataka. Mr. Modi said, he is looking forward to being among the people of Mangaluru.
