2 AAI, Sweden's LFV Air Navigation Services join hands for developing next generation sustainable aviation technology

Airports Authority of India(AAI) and Sweden's LFV Air Navigation Services have joined hands for developing and operationalizing the next generation sustainable aviation technology to explore smart aviation solutions. AAI and Sweden's LFV signed a Memorandum of Understanding today in New Delhi in this regard. Civil Aviation Ministry informed that the MoU will pave the way for bilateral exchange of aviation knowledge, expertise and technology transfer between the two countries.

It will also allow the Indian companies to accelerate growth while leveraging Swedish innovation and expertise. MoU aims to expand technical cooperation in airports and support the development of a safe, secure, sustainable and efficient aviation sector. On the occasion, Chairman of Airports Authority of India, Sanjeev Kumar expressed confidence that the mutual exchange in civil aviation between AAI and LFV Sweden will go a long way in building and operationalization of next generation smart and sustainable aviation technology.

3 UGC declares 21 universities as fake

University Grant Commission, UGC has declared twenty-one universities as fake. In a letter, UGC said that 21 institutions are functioning in self-styled manner across the country, which are not recognized by the commission. Awaring the students UGC said that these institutions are not empowered to confer a degree.

UGC said the highest eight such fake universities are functioning in Delhi and three in Uttar Pradesh. It said that the remaining ten fake universities belong to the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal, Odisha, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.

4 Justice Uday Umesh Lalit sworn in as 49th Chief Justice of India

Justice Uday Umesh Lalit will be sworn-in as Chief Justice of India today. President Draupadi Murmu will administer him oath as the 49th Chief Justice of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan. He succeeds Justice NV Ramana, who retired yesterday.  

Justice UU Lalit will be in office for 74 days, a tenure shorter than average. Justice Lalit was involved in some landmark judgements in past and will also handle some major cases in his tenure as Chief Justice. In past, he was involved in the landmark judgement in the Triple Talaq case.

Justice UU Lalit studied at the Government Law College, Mumbai, and specialised in criminal law. He practised in the Bombay High Court till 1985 and moved to Delhi in 1986.

5 President Droupadi Murmu to confer National Awards to Teachers on 5th September in New Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu will confer National Awards to Teachers 2022 to 46 selected awardees on 5th September in New Delhi. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education has been organising a National level function on Teachers Day every year to confer the National Awards to best teachers of the country. The selection is done through a rigorous transparent and online three-stage selection process.

The purpose of National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country and to honour those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.

6 Two MOU's on cooperation got signed in 3rd India-Mauritius Joint Committee Meeting

The third India-Mauritius Joint Committee Meeting on Small and Medium Enterprise Cooperation was held in New Delhi today. The Indian side was led by Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane. In the meeting, both sides reviewed the present engagement between India and Mauritius in the field of MSMEs. They held discussion on potential areas of cooperation in various areas including exchange of best practices and experiences in development of MSME sector and holding of physical and virtual exhibitions.

During the Mauritius delegation’s visit, two Memoranda of Understanding  on cooperation have also been signed.

7 Country is ready for launch of 5G services by October this year, says Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said the country is ready for launch of 5G services by October this year. He said this while releasing amendment in the Indian Telegraph Right of Way Rules, 2016 to facilitate faster and easier deployment of Telecom Infrastructure for faster 5G roll-out in India.

In his address at the event in New Delhi last evening, the Communications Minister mentioned about 4 basic ingredients for ensuring faster rollout of 5G services across the country, mainly allocation of spectrum, reforms in the processing of RoW permission, co-operative federalism and rollout of services. Spectrum allocation and harmonization has been completed successfully.

8 Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu launches a book 'New India' on death anniversary of Arun Jaitley

Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today released a book titled New India -  a compilation of selected articles of former Union Minister and Padma Vibhushan Arun Jaitley on his death anniversary today in New Delhi. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu said, Mr Jaitley dreamt of a new India, strong, stable, prosperous, peaceful and a forward-looking India. He said, Mr Jaitley also dreamt of a progressive nation, where there is no poverty, no urban-rural divide and no gender and social discrimination.

9 I&B Minister Anurag Thakur launches Azadi Quest App

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur today launched the Azadi Quest, a series of online mobile games on the heroes and milestones of Indian freedom in New Delhi. Azadi Quest is a set of online games designed for players of all ages for interactive learning with fun gameplay.

The Initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to ‘Engage, Entertain and Educate’ the people through toys and games. On the occasion, Publications Division and Zynga India have signed an  MoU to mark year-long partnership to commemorate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ through series of mobile games.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Thakur urged people to download Azadi Quest App as it will prove to be a very effective tool in spreading awareness on India's freedom fighters.

10 Government to launch E-Passport in next 6 months

Electronic-Passports will be rolled out by the end of this year or early next year. Secretary External Affairs, Dr. Ausaf Sayeed informed the media in Hyderabad. He said an e-chip and a few more features will be added to the passport book which will provide security upgradation of the Indian passport and enable machine reading.

A team of officials led by the secretary is visiting Hyderabad as part of Videsh Sampark Outreach program and held a series of meetings with Telangana government.  

Stating that the interests of diaspora are important, the secretary said several steps are being taken to facilitate Indian citizens who are migrating to work in other countries and providing legal support.
