2 Cabinet Committee on Security approves Tejas Mark-2 Project

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has approved Tejas Mark-2 Project. The CCS has sanctioned 6,500 crore rupees for designing and developing of Tejas Mark-2 fighter jet with prototypes, flight testing, and certification. The allocation comes in addition to the existing 2500 crore rupees sanctioned to HAL.

The advanced version of Tejas LCA will feature a series of additions to its flight and fight capabilities. Tejas 2.0 will be equipped with more powerful GE- F414 engines in the 98 Kilonewton thrust class, which will allow it to extend its flight range and carry additional payload and weapons as compared to the existing version. The payload capacity of the Tejas Mark-2 jet will be four tonnes as compared to three tonnes of the existing version. In addition to this, the new jet will also be equipped with an indigenously developed Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, which will be a major upgrade from the existing ELTA's EL/M-2032 multi-mode radar.

3 Dr. Vasudha Gupta appointed as Director General of News Services Division of All India Radio

Senior Indian Information Service officer Dr. Vasudha Gupta has been appointed as the Director General of the News Services Division of All India Radio today. Dr. Vasudha Gupta will assume the charge tomorrow. Principal Director General of News Services Division and Director General of All India Radio N Venudhar Reddy superannuated today.

A 1989-batch Officer Dr. Vasudha Gupta has served in various capacities in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for over 32 years long career. Before her appointment as Director General of the News Services Division of All India Radio, she was serving as Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB).

4 PM to also commission first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in Kochi on Friday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission the first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier as INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi on Friday morning. Designed by Indian Navy's in-house Warship Design Bureau and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, INS Vikrant has been built with with the state of the art automation features and is the largest ship ever built in maritime history of India. With the commissioning of Vikrant, India will have two operational Aircraft Carriers, which will bolster the maritime security of the nation. During the event, Mr Modi will also unveil the new Naval Ensign (Nishaan), doing away with the colonial past and befitting the rich Indian maritime heritage.

Thereafter at 1:30 PM, Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around 3,800 crore rupees in Mangaluru. AIR correspondent reports that Prime Minister will lay the Foundation stone for the Integrated Liquid Petroleum Gas and bulk Liquid Petroleum, oil and Lubricant facility at Mangaluru Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, the . Foundation will also be laid for the storage tanks and edible oil refinery, bitumen storage and allied facilities. He will later dedicate to the nation BS VI upgradation project and Sea Water Desalination plant of Mangaluru Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited. He will also lay the foundation stone for a fishing harbour at Kulai.

5 HM Amit Shah to launch “CAPF eAwas” web-portal in New Delhi

Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Central Armed Police Forces' eAwas web-portal in New Delhi today. Ministry of Home Affairs said, increasing the Housing Satisfaction Ratio for CAPFs personnel is one of the priority areas of the Government.

In order to operationalise the revised policy of allotment and to also bring transparency to the allotment process, a common web-portal 'CAPF eAwas' has been developed. The web-portal will enable online registration and allotment of residential quarters to eligible personnel of CAPFs and Assam Rifles.

6 CERT-In conducts exercise Cyber Security Exercise “Synergy”

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and  IT, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise “Synergy” for 13 Countries yesterday. It was a part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative- Resilience Working Group. The Group is being led by India under the leadership of National Security Council Secretariat. The theme of the exercise was “Building Network Resiliency to counter Ransomware Attacks”. The exercise scenario was derived from real life cyber incidents, in which a domestic level (limited impact) ransomware incident escalates to a global cyber security crisis.

7 Festival of Ganesh Chaturthi being celebrated across the country today with great devotion

Ganeshotsav, the most popular and favourite festival of Maharashtra begins today. The festival assumes a lot of significance as it is celebrated on a very large scale by people from different sections of society.

The festivities will be celebrated in a cheerful atmosphere sans Covid-19 restrictions. Since last evening, devotees have started bringing the idols of Lord Ganesha to their homes and public pandals.

Sports Authority of India (SAI) felicitates World Cadet Judo Champion Linthoi Chanambam

Linthoi Chanambam, the 16-year-old, who recently became the first Indian to win a world title in judo, was commemorated and facilitated by the Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Shri Sandip Pradhan at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi on Monday.

The judoka from Manipur defeated Brazil’s Reis Bianca in the 57 kg weight category, 1-0 by Waza-ari — a throw — to clinch the historic Gold at the World Cadet Championship 2022 in Sarajevo.

Linthoi Chanambam was accompanied by her Georgian coach Mamuka Kizilashvii to the event.

10 National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority to celebrate Silver Jubilee today

National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) will celebrate its Silver Jubilee in New Delhi today. On the occasion, Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will launch Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System 2.0, an integrated responsive cloud-based application. It will provide a single window for submissions of various forms as mandated under Drug Price Control Order, 2013. It will also enable the paperless functioning of NPPA and facilitate the stakeholders to connect with National Pharma Pricing Regulator from across the country.
