1 NITI Aayog approves 32 beneficiaries under PLI scheme for large-scale electronics manufacturing

The Empowered Committee headed by CEO, NITI Aayog Parameswaran Iyer on Friday approved first ever disbursement of incentive for mobile manufacturing under the large-scale electronics manufacturing’ sector.

The Production-Linked Incentive scheme for Large-Scale Electronics Manufacturing is expected to make India a competitive destination for electronics manufacturing. It will also give a boost to Aatmanirbhar Bharat while creating more global champions.

Padget Electronics Private Limited, a domestic company, is the first beneficiary approved by the Empowered Committee to receive incentive under mobile manufacturing based on its incremental investment and sales figures.

2 PM Modi to inaugurate Centre-State Science Conclave at Science City, Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the two-day Centre-State Science Conclave today at Science City in Ahmedabad. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The conclave is in line with the Prime Minister’s relentless efforts to facilitate innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. It will strengthen Centre-State coordination and collaboration mechanisms and the spirit of cooperative federalism to build a robust science, technology & innovation, STI ecosystem across the country.

3 President Murmu launches Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

President Droupadi Murmu has said that Jan Bhagidari is the key to eliminate tuberculosis from the country. The President was speaking after virtually launching the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to reinvigorate the mission of TB elimination from the country by 2025.

During the event, President Murmu also launched the Ni-kshay 2.0 initiative, a  portal to provide a platform for donors to provide various forms of support to those undergoing TB treatment.

She said that under the world's biggest Aushman Yojana, the wellness centres have been especially geared to work towards the elimination of Tuberculosis.

4 Vande Bharat 2: Railways to introduce new avatar of high-speed train

Indian Railways will be introducing the new avatar of high-speed train Vande Bharat namely Vande Bharat 2. It will be equipped with more advancements and improved features like 0 to 100 Kmpl speed in just 52 seconds, maximum speed up to 180 Kmph, lesser weight of 392 tons instead of 430 tons, and WI-FI content on demand.
 
New Vande Bharat will also have 32-inch LCD TVs which were 24 inch in earlier versions. 15 percent more energy efficient ACs with dust-free clean air cooling of the traction motor will make the travel more comfortable. Side recliner seat facility which is being provided to Executive Class passengers will now be made available for all classes.

5 President Droupadi Murmu to launch Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan today to reinvigorate the mission of TB elimination

President Droupadi Murmu will virtually launch the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan today to reinvigorate the mission of TB elimination from the country by 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given the clarion call to end TB in the country five years ahead of the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030 at the Delhi End TB Summit in March 2018.

The Abhiyaan will be launched in presence of Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Health Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar.

Representatives from State & district health administration, corporates, industries, civil society and NGOs will also attend the function.

6 PM Modi says India receives new energy, inspiration as nation breaks free of shackles of colonisation during 'Amrit Kaal'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India has received a new energy and inspiration as the nation is breaking free of the shackles of colonisation during the 'Amrit Kaal'. 

He said this while inaugurating the 'Kartavya Path' - a stretch of the Central Vista from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate yesterday. The Prime Minister also unveiled statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate.

Congratulating the people of India for shedding yet another symbol of colonialism, the Prime Minister said 'Kingsway' is now history and a new era has begun in the form of Kartvyapath. He emphasised that Rajpath was for the British for whom the people of India were slaves and was a symbol of colonialism. He expressed pride that its architecture has changed and its spirit has also changed.

7 NTA to announce CUET-UG results by September 15: UGC Chairman

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the  Common University Entrance Test (CUET) - Under Graduate results by 15th of this month or if possible, even a couple of days earlier. UGC Chairman Prof M Jagadesh Kumar informed this.

He also advised all participating universities may keep their web portals ready to start the UG admission process based on CUET-UG score. The CUET UG Hall entrance were held in four phases.

It was conducted in almost 259 cities across country and nine cities outside India.

8 Indian Naval Ship Tarkash arrives at Port Lagos in Nigeria

Continuing with her deployment in the Gulf of Guinea, Indian Naval Ship Tarkash arrived at Port Lagos in Nigeria. Officials of the Nigerian Navy, the High Commission of India and children of the Indian Language School welcomed the ship.

During her port call, the ship will conduct professional interactions with the Nigerian Navy to enhance interoperability and share best practices between the navies.

In addition, she will also participate in ports fixtures and social engagements. The ship will also be open to visitors to provide an opportunity to the Indian diaspora and locals to interact with her crew.

9 Cabinet approves policy on long-term leasing of Railways' Land for PM Gati Shakti framework

The Union Cabinet today approved policy on long-term leasing of Railways' Land for implementing PM Gati Shakti framework. Briefing media in New Delhi today, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said, the policy will bring more revenue to Railways and generate about one lakh 20 thousand jobs. He said, three hundred PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals will also be developed over the next five years.

Mr Thakur said, this will also help in attracting more cargo to railways and reducing the logistics costs of the industry. He said, the revised railways’ land policy will enable integrated development of infrastructure and more cargo terminals. He said, the policy will provide for use of railway land at a nominal cost for setting up solar plants on railway land.

10 Legendary artist Ram Chandra Manjhi passes away

In Bihar, the doyen of Bhojpuri folk theatre art “Launda Naach” and legendary artist Ram Chandra Manjhi passed away yesterday. 97-year old Manjhi breathed his last in a hospital in Patna.

He was born in a family of weaker section of society in a riverine village Tujarpur in the Nagra block of Saran district in Bihar.

Manjhi was an oldest member of a troupe of great folk artist and Bhojpuri poet with the sobriquet “Shakespeare of Bhojpuri” Bhikhari Thakur. He was a staunch supporter of good and meaningful songs and performances in Bhojpuri folk theatre.
