4 Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurates 'Buddham Saranam Gacchami' exhibition in New Delhi

Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi today inaugurated the “Buddham Saranam Gacchami” exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Arts, New Delhi.

The exhibition organized in the week succeeding Buddha Purnima was based on the life of Lord Buddha and showcased the voyage of Buddhist art and culture around the world.

The artistic works that have been put on display offer a glimpse into the history and philosophy of one of Buddhism.

6 CDS awards unit citations to 3 Tri-service units for exemplary performance

General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Defence Staff, conferred CDS Unit Citations award to the Strategic Forces Command, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad & 2 PARA (Special Forces) for their exemplary performance for the Year 2021-22 in a ceremony held in New Delhi on May 11, 2023.

The CDS unit citations award was constituted after the establishment of the Office of Chief of the Defence Staff in 2019  to boost jointness and integration in the Armed Forces.

7 ISSF World Cup: India’s Rhythm Sangwan wins bronze medal in Women’s 10 metre air pistol event in Baku

India’s Rhythm Sangwan has won the bronze medal in the women’s 10-metre air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2023 for rifle and pistol shooters in Baku, Azerbaijan.

She scored 219.1 in the final to finish third behind Anna 2016 Rio Olympic champion Anna Korakaki of Greece and 2004 Athens Olympics gold medallist Olena Kostevych of Ukraine.

It was Sangwan’s first individual senior medal at the shooting World Cup.

9 Indian boxers secure historic three medals at World Boxing Championships

Indian boxers have ensured three medals at the World Boxing Championships for the first time as they advanced to the semifinals in Tashkent on Wednesday. India created history when Deepak Bhoria at 51kg, Mohammed Hussamuddin at 57kg, and Nishant Dev at 71kg emerged victorious in their respective quarterfinal bouts. This is for the first time Indian men’s boxers will bring home three medals home from a World Championships.

10 Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Sittwe Port in Myanmar

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal and Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport & Communications of Myanmar, Admiral Tin Aung San, jointly inaugurated the Sittwe Port in Rakhine State, Myanmar on Tuesday. During this event they received the first Indian Cargo ship which was flagged off from Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Sarbanand Sonowal highlighted the close historical, cultural and economic ties between India and Myanmar. He reiterated India’s long standing commitment towards the development and prosperity of people of Myanmar through developmental initiatives such as the Sittwe Port, said an official press release.
