The Gujarat government on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with computer storage chip maker Micron for setting up a $2.75 billion semiconductor assembly and test facility at Sanand in Ahmedabad district.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Electronics & Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a government release said.

The launch is set to take place at the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, India, using a GSLV Mark 3 heavy-lift launch vehicle.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has confirmed the launch date for its highly anticipated lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3. The rocket is slated to launch on July 13 at 2:30 pm local time, officials announced today.

The mission, India's third venture to the moon, represents another significant step for the nation in space exploration, following the successful but bittersweet Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019. While the previous mission managed to orbit the moon, the Vikram lander suffered a hard landing that prevented the rover from being deployed as planned.

Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal have launched new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) guidelines 'Sagar Samajik Sahayyog' for ports today in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sonowal said that the renewed guidelines for CSR activities will allow ports to initiate, undertake and expedite projects for community welfare through a framework where local communities can also become partners of development and change.
 
Under new rules, each major port will constitute a three-member-CSR Committee headed by the Dy. Chairperson to plan and implement the projects. Ports with an annual net profit of 100 crore rupees or less can fix between three and five percent for CSR expenses.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced today the appointment of Aarti Holla-Maini of the United Kingdom as Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna.

Indian-origin Aarti Hola-Maini has been appointed as Director of the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna on Tuesday. Aarti is a satellite industry expert. She will take over from Simonetta Di Pippo of Italy.

The announcement of Aarti's appointment was made by the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Besides holding an experience of over 25 years in the fields of administration and as a lawyer, she is an expert in space science and technology.
