The prestigious Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express of Western Railway has completed 50 glorious years since its first journey on May 17, 1972. 

To celebrate this golden jubilee celebration, a dignified event was organized by the Western Railway at Mumbai Central Station and the train was flagged off with great enthusiasm.
 
A special postal cover and a VIP album were also released to mark the occasion.

2 Ramgarh Vishdhari Wildlife Sanctuary notified as 52nd Reserve Forest for Wild cats

Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav has said that Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan has been notified today. In a series of tweets, Mr Yadav said, it is the 52nd Reserve of India, which will conserve biodiversity and bring in ecotourism and development to the area. He said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, government is committed to preserving the wildlife.

The newly notified tiger reserve includes the tiger habitat between Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the northeast and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on the southern side and facilitates dispersal of tigers from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. The Minister said, the floristic diversity of this new tiger reserve makes it an important area for research and education. Mr. Yadav said, historic and cultural sites like Bhimlat, Ramgarh palace will encourage eco-tourism and provide employment opportunities to local communities.

3 PM Modi to address programme marking Silver Jubilee Celebrations of TRAI today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a programme marking Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) at 11 AM today through video conferencing. He will also release a postal stamp to commemorate the occasion.

AIR correspondent reports, During the programme, Mr Modi will also launch a 5G Test Bed, developed as a multi-institutional collaborative project by a total of eight institutes led by IIT Madras. The other institutes that participated in the project include IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IISc Bangalore, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) and Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology.

The project has been developed at a cost of more than two hundred twenty crore rupees. The Test Bed will enable a supportive ecosystem for Indian industry and start-ups which will help them validate their products, prototypes, solutions and algorithms in 5G and next-generation technologies.

5 National Museum to celebrate International Museum Day 2022 at National Museum, New Delhi from 16th-20th May

National Museum New Delhi will celebrate International Museum Day 2022 for five day from tomorrow. On this occasion, the National Museum is offering a mixed bag of online and offline activities and events designed for both young and adults during the five days.

The exciting line-up of activities include Teachers’ Training Workshop in collaboration with CCRT Dwarka, Mata Sundari College, Delhi and the Indian Culture portal. This would be followed by a one-day Museum Educators’ meet which would see the participation of various central and state government museums across Delhi.

The Museum is collaborating with the Heritage Lab, Flow India, Access for All and Heritage for the Educators meet. The Educators’ Meet is National Museum’s pilot initiative, which has been conceptualized with an attempt at bringing government museum educators together on one platform to share and discuss about opportunities, challenges and their achievable solutions.

6 PM Modi interacts with Team India after historic win in Thomas Cup

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted on phone with the Indian Badminton team that has scored the historic win at the Thomas Cup. The Prime Minister congratulated the team and said that sports analyst will have to count this as India’s finest sporting win.

He said that he is especially happy that the team did not lose any round. During his interaction, Mr Modi asked the players at what stage did they feel that that they are going to win. Badminton player Kidambi Srikanth informed Mr Modi that after the quarter final, the team’s determination to see it to the end became very strong. 

He also told the Prime Minister that team spirit helped and every player gave his 100 percent.The Prime Minister said that the coaches also deserve all the appreciation.

Buddha Purnima is being celebrated today. It not only marks the day when Gautam Buddha was born but also the day when he attained Nirvana under the Mahabodhi tree at Bodh Gaya.

Lord Buddha was born as Prince Siddhartha Gautama on the full moon day in 563 BC at Lumbini in Nepal. His birth anniversary is also known as Vaisakhi Buddha Purnima or Vesak.  

The full moon day of May is the most important for Buddhists. Prince Siddhartha was born at Lumbini Grove on the full moon day, he attained enlightenment under the shade of the Bodhi tree and became Gotama Buddha at Bodh Gaya and after 45 years of teaching the Truth, when he was eighty, he passed away at Kusinara on the full moon day of May.

8 PM Modi to launch Madhya Pradesh Startup Policy during Madhya Pradesh Startup Conclave

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Madhya Pradesh Startup Policy and address the startup community during the Madhya Pradesh Startup Conclave being held in Indore, on 13th May at 7 PM via video conferencing.

He will also launch the Madhya Pradesh Startup portal, which will facilitate and help promote the startup ecosystem.

The Madhya Pradesh Startup Conclave will witness participation of various pillars of the startup ecosystem including policy makers from government and private sector, innovators, entrepreneurs, academicians, investors, mentors and other stakeholders. It will witness a variety of sessions including speed mentoring session, where startups will have dialogue with leaders of educational institutions and startup space; how to start startup session, where startups will be guided by policymakers; funding session, where entrepreneurs will learn about various funding methods; pitching session, where startups will get opportunity to collaborate with investors and put forth their ideas for funding; and ecosystem support session, where participants will learn about brand value and about promoting startup ecosystem in the state.

9 Shiksha, Jaismine and Anamika progress to next round at 12th IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships; Pooja and Lovlina to play in pre-quarterfinals

Indian boxers Shiksha (54kg), Jaismine (60kg) and Anamika (50kg) showed their skills and maturity to advance to the pre-quarterfinals at the 12th edition of the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Istanbul on Thursday.

Shiksha, who faced Argentina's Herrera Milagros Rosario displayed brilliant temperament and skillset to convincingly win by unanimous decision without breaking a sweat.

10 MoS for Health Dr Bharti Pawar inaugurates Yoga and Health Awareness Programme in Nashik
