2 Indian Men's Hockey team beat Pakistan in thrilling final to win inaugural Men's Hockey 5s Asia Cup

In Hockey, India beat Pakistan in penalty shootout in the final to win the inaugural Men’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup 2023 in Salalah, Oman, yesterday. The win also served as Asia’s qualifying tournament for the FIH Men’s Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024. Subsequently, India qualified for the FIH Men’s Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024. This is the first time in three meetings that India have beaten Pakistan in the Hockey 5s format. From 2-4 down in the second half, India took the game to the shootout after two goals from Mohammed Raheel. In the shootout, Pakistan missed all their chances while Maninder Singh hit the hammer in the coffin to score India's second goal in the shootout. Earlier in the evening, India thrashed Malaysia 10-4 in the semifinals.  Pakistan reached the final after defeating Oman 7-3.For their remarkable performance and the important win, Hockey India announced Rupees Two Lakh to each player of the team, while Rupees One Lakh each for the support staff. Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey congratulated the team on qualifying for the FIH Men's Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024 and winning the Gold medal.

3 Assam To Introduce Bill In State Assembly To Ban Polygamy

The Assam government is likely to introduce a Bill in the state assembly in December to ban polygamy.

Polygamy is the practice of marrying more than one person (multiple spouses).

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday addressed an all-party meeting in Assam's Tinsukia and said that the state government, in the next 45 days, will finalize the Bill to ban polygamy in the state.

5 Morgan Stanley Raises India's GDP Forecast To 6.4% After Q1 Strong Data

Morgan Stanley has upwardly revised their economic growth forecast for India for fiscal year 2024 after April-June quarter data showed it grew at its quickest pace in a year.

The multinational investment bank raised India’s growth forecast to 6.4 per cent from its earlier estimate of 6.2 per cent. It attributed the growth forecast revision to robust domestic demand.

India’s GDP growth for the June quarter came at 7.8 per cent, higher than Morgan Stanley’s expectation of 7.4 per cent.

Max Verstappen further cemented his status as the dominant driver of his generation with a historic victory at the Italian Grand Prix, his 10th consecutive race win.

7 U.P govt issues directives for expediting digital crop survey in state

The state government has issued directives for expediting the digital crop survey in the state, asking officials to complete the crop survey in all villages under the supervision of the district magistrate (DM) within the specified time frame, said a government spokesman here on Sunday.

The officials have also been directed to ensure that each surveyor completes the survey for 1,500 plots per month and 2,250 plots within 45 days.

Furthermore, directions have been given to complete the survey within the next 15 days in 10 revenue villages of 54 districts.

8 India's first indigenously built Destroyer, INS Delhi, concludes its successful goodwill visit to Colombo

Speaker of Sri Lanka’s Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, the Chief Guest at the reception, received a HADR Medical (Aarogya Maitri) kit from the High Commissioner on behalf of the Sri Lankan government. 9 Fourth and final Sherpa meeting begins in Haryana’s Mewat ahead of G20 Summit

The fourth and final Sherpa meeting of the G20 Summit began on Sunday in Haryana’s Mewat and will continue until September 7. This meeting will lay down the final agenda for the upcoming G20 Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Delhi on September 9-10.

Apart from the member countries of the G20 Summit, Sherpas and other delegates are participating in the high-level meeting. Twenty-three liaison officers, 19 state civil services officers and four IAS officers have been deputed who will play a vital role in assisting and facilitating participants during the event.

10 ISRO successfully completes first earth-bound manoeuvre to raise orbit of India's maiden solar mission Aditya L1

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully performed the first earth-bound manoeuvre of the country's maiden solar mission, Aditya L1, from its Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network in Bengaluru. In its post on social media platform, the Indian Space Agency said, ISTRAC successfully carried out the Earth bound maneuver on Sunday and the spacecraft has attained a new orbit of 245 kms by 22,459 kms. It added that the satellite is healthy and operating normally.
 
The next maneuver is scheduled on Tuesday around 3 am Indian Standard Time. The satellite will undergo four Earth bound orbital manoeuvres before placing in the transfer orbit towards the Lagrange point L1 in 125 days. Aditya L1 mission will provide information on Solar corona and conduct in-situ observations of the solar wind at L1 also known as Lagrange Point-1 which is about 1.5 million kilometres away from Earth. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle C57 had successfully launched Aditya L1 spacecraft on Saturday.
