Reserve Bank of India governor Shaktikanta Das was honoured with the title of ‘Governor of the Year’ for 2023 by Central Banking in London. The organisers of the awards said that Shaktikanta Das “cemented critical reforms, overseen world-leading payments innovation, and steered India through difficult times with a steady hand and well-crafted turn of phrase”. Wishes poured in from all quarters after news of the award emerged on Wednesday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Tuesday announced three major schemes worth over Rs 8,000 crore that would cover the modernisation of fire brigade services in all states, flood mitigation in seven major cities and prevention of landslides in 17 states.

The University of Delhi has announced to launch the Centre for Hindu Studies (CHS) from 2023-24 academic session. The centre will focus on various facets of the Hindu civilisation, its multiple dynamics, history, philosophy and worldview.

Under the new centre, DU will initially introduce a postgraduate (PG) programme in Hindu Studies for the 2023-24 academic session, an official said. This course aims to involve all the stakeholders, including the enrolled students of the programme, to "think critically and evolve a Bharat-centric perspective beyond theoretical explanation", he added.

MRF became the first Indian stock to touch the rupee one lakh per share mark on Tuesday (June 13). The stock opened at ₹99,500 on BSE against the previous close of ₹98,939.70 and touched an all-time high of ₹1,00,300 in morning trade.

The stock has witnessed strong gains in the last one year. It is up 45 per cent in the last one year against a 19 per cent gain in the benchmark Sensex. MRF shares hit their 52-week low of ₹65,900.05 on BSE on June 17, 2022. As of the closing of the previous session, the stock is up 50 per cent from that level.
