Hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and Olympic medallist boxer Lovlina Borgohain will be the flag-bearers of the Indian contingent during the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Hangzhou on September 23.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) took the decision on Wednesday to have joint flag-bearers for the continental showpiece.

A total of 655 Indian athletes are competing in the Asian Games this time, which is the largest contingent ever.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday announced the issuance of the Reserve Bank of India (Prudential Regulations on Basel III Capital Framework, Exposure Norms, Significant Investments, Classification, Valuation and Operation of Investment Portfolio Norms and Resource Raising Norms for All India Financial Institutions) Directions, 2023.

These directions are set to govern the operations of five prominent All India Financial Institutions (AIFIs), namely Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM) Bank, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NABFID), National Housing Bank (NHB), and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).

Andhra Pradesh Wednesday set the road for imparting quality education of global standards to government school students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship.

The Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday introduced a bill in the assembly which seeks to empower it to “aid and advise” the governor in the appointment of vice chancellors in two agriculture and horticulture universities in the state.

The proposed legislation — The Himachal Pradesh Universities of Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry (Amendment) Bill, 2023 — will be applicable to Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Krishi Vishvavidyalay, Palampur and Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan.

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has raised India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth projection for financial year 2024 to 6.3 per cent, up from the previous estimate of 6 percent.

India, which is listed among the G20 emerging-market economies, has experienced mostly positive growth surprises, attributed in part to favourable weather-related agricultural outcomes, OECD said. As it is a Bill to amend the Constitution, it was put for voting by division. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced that 454 members voted in the favour of the bill, while 2 members voted against. Rules require that such a bill need to be passed by special majority, which is 2/3rd of members present and voted.

According to a report carried by Dainik Jagran, an approximate sum of ₹350 crore will be spent on the construction of the stadium which will be built on a wide campus of about 31 acres and will have seven pitches. The venue is expected to accommodate 30,000 spectators at a time.

This impressive sculpture, named "Ekatmata Ki Pratima" or "Statue of Oneness," serves as a monumental homage to the enduring legacy and profound teachings of Adi Shankaracharya. Originally slated for its unveiling on September 18, the ceremony had to be postponed due to heavy rainfall in the region, as confirmed by an official source cited by the news agency PTI.

The Uttar Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to launch Officer Desk System soon to accelerate secretariat works and to ensure prompt and transparent disposal of files, said an official statement.

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister's Office, "The Officer Desk System is geared towards expeditious file management and curbing corrupt practices. Simultaneously, government schemes can be executed promptly, benefitting the people of the state directly."
