1 Ministry of Power receives Special Appreciation Medal for Excellence in Display at IITF 2023

The Ministry of Power, Government of India has been awarded the Special Appreciation Medal for Excellence in Display, at India International Trade Fair 2023, which has been held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during November 14 - 27, 2023. The Ministry received the award for the Power Pavilion set up by it at 42nd edition of the IITF. The Pavilion was set up under the umbrella of the Ministry of Power, with NTPC as the nodal agency and with contribution from 11 other PSUs under the Ministry. The Pavilion was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri R. K. Singh, on November 14, 2023.

The pavilion aimed to present the key initiatives in the power sector before the domestic and international industry and to also improve public awareness and participation in the schemes and policies of the government. A brochure on the Pavilion can be found here.

2 IcfaiTech, Hyderabad Receives FutureSkills Prime Certification Award from NASSCOM

In appreciation of the contribution of IcfaiTech, a constituent of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad to Skill India initiative, NASSCOM recognized and gave the award for the "Fastest completion of Prime FutureSkills certifications in last quarter in Telangana Region". The award was presented at the NASTech 23 event, organized by NASSCOM, in association with Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India. Dr K L Narayana, Director, IcfaiTech received the prestigious award on behalf of the University.

FutureSkills Prime is the National Digital Skilling platform set up by NASSCOM, in association with Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India, in order to enable India to become the Global Hub for Digital Talent, by catalyzing the Education & Skills Ecosystem in India. As a part of this initiative, Skill Training Courses are offered to the students in ten emerging technology areas, like AI/ML, IOT, Cyber Security, Block-Chain, Cloud Computing, Business Analytics, Robotic Process Automation, AR/VR, 3D printing etc, so as to make them Future Ready, by supplementing their class room learning.

HDFC Life has set a new Guinness World Records title for creating the largest online selfie mosaic made from 19,097 photos clicked by individuals for the ‘Insure India’ campaign.

5 Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveils crest of Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyer Imphal

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled the crest of Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyer Yard 12706 (Imphal), today in New Delhi, along with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

According to the Defence Ministry, the crest design depicts the Kangla Palace on the left and ‘Kangla-Sa’ on the right. The Kangla Palace is an important historical and archaeological site of Manipur. The ‘Kangla-Sa’ is a mythical being from Manipur history, with a dragon’s head and lion’s body. It is symbolic of the protector of its people and is the state emblem of Manipur.

The Ministry said it serves as a tribute to the sacrifice made by the people of Manipur towards India’s independence, sovereignty, and security. It added that the ship is a hallmark of indigenous shipbuilding and is amongst the most technologically advanced warships in the world.

6 Dubai Run 2023 Sets World Record with 226,000 Participants

This morning, Dubai witnessed an extraordinary display of community spirit as Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, led more than 226,000 participants in the fifth edition of Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai. Marking the conclusion of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2023, the event has consolidated its position as the world's largest community fun run, surpassing last year’s numbers.

Joined by UAE astronauts Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi and Hazzaa Almansoori, along with Expedition 69 crew members, including international astronauts and Russian cosmonauts, the event showcased unity and fitness advocacy. Dr. Al Neyadi passed the Dubai Fitness Challenge flag to Sheikh Hamdan, symbolizing commitment to community well-being. Transforming Sheikh Zayed Road into a colossal running track, the event offered 5 km and 10 km routes, attracting runners of all levels.

9 Madhya Pradesh gets India’s largest tiger reserve in Damoh

The Central government has approved a proposal to merge the two wildlife sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh to create the largest tiger reserve in the country spanning 2,300 square kilometres, ANI reported on Sunday.

The Union government has issued a notification regarding the approval of the proposal to merge the Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary—located in central Madhya Pradesh covering parts of Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, and Raisen districts—with the Rani Durgavati Wildlife Sanctuary in the Damoh district of the state, the report said citing a forest department official.
