The Indian Army today said that indigenously developed equipment like Arjun Tank, Nag Missile System, K9 Vajra, and Akash Weapon System under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan will be showcased during the Republic Day parade on the 26th of January at Kartavya Path.

While briefing the media in New Delhi today, the Indian Army said, eight marching contingents including six from the Indian Army, one from Indian Air Force and one from Indian Navy will take part in the Republic Day parade. It said, Mechanised Infantry, Dogra Regiment, Punjab Regiment, Maratha Light Infantry, Bihar Regiment and Gorkha Brigade will participate in the parade.

2 Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurates Military Tattoo & Tribal Dance Festival at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Festival at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi this evening. The festival is to mark the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose under the 'Adi- Shaurya: Parv Parakram Kain' banner. The two-day festival is showcasing the prowess of the Armed Forces and the ethnic beauty of India’s tribal culture. The Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs are jointly organising this event.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs said that the aim of the festival is to remember the sacrifices of the country’s brave hearts and celebrate the rich cultural heritage which makes India so unique and diverse.

3 President Droupadi Murmu confers Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in New Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu today conferred this year's Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The awards have been conferred upon 11 children for their exceptional achievement in six categories, which include Art, Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Social Service, and Sports.  

Each awardee has received a medal, a cash prize of one lakh rupees, and a certificate from the President.

5 President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to arrive in New Delhi today on three-day visit to India

President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, will arrive in New Delhi today, January 24, on a three-day visit to India. 

President Sisi will be the Chief Guest on India’s 74th Republic Day. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including five Ministers and senior officials. This is for the first time that the President of Egypt has been invited as Chief Guest on  Republic Day. A military contingent from Egyptian Army will also participate in the Republic Day parade.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar has said that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had a very nuanced and developed understanding of the contemporary world and helped India transform its relationship with the United States. 

Dr. Jaishankar said this at the 3rd Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Lecture in New Delhi yesterday, January 23. He said, Mr. Vajpayee transformed India's relationship with the United States in the post-cold war environment after recognizing how important that relationship had become for India nationally and internationally.

9 Parakram Diwas marking 126th Birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose being observed today

A grateful nation remembers the great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary today, January 23. 

It was on this day in 1897, that Neta Ji was born in Cuttack, Odisha. The day is celebrated as Parakram Diwas. 

The 23rd of January is celebrated as Parakram Diwas every year to inspire people of the country, especially the youth, to act with fortitude in the face of adversity as Netaji did, and to infuse in them a spirit of patriotic fervour.

10 Fifth Kalvari class submarine INS Vagir to be inducted into Indian Navy

The fifth Kalvari class submarine INS Vagir will be inducted into Indian Navy today, January 23. 

The submarine, built in India by Mumbai’s Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited in collaboration with France-based Naval Group, will be commissioned by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar. Vagir has the distinction of having the lowest build time among all indigenously manufactured submarines to date. 

Vagir will boost Indian Navy’s capabilities as it is capable of undertaking diverse missions including anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying, and surveillance missions. Vagir is named after Sand Shark, which represents ‘Stealth and Fearlessness’, two qualities that are synonymous with the ethos of a submariner.
