Prime Minister Narendra Modi will name the 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman & Nicobar after Param Vir Chakra awardees today, January 23. 

He will virtually attend the event being held at Port Blair. The Prime Minister will also unveil the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji. Home Minister Amit Shah will be present at the event and address the gathering. He arrived in Port Blair last night on a two-day visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan will also attend the event.

2 Three-day annual conference of DGPs and IGPs begins in New Delhi

Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Indian agencies have succeeded in establishing their strong supremacy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that India today stands safe, sound and on a good footing. Home Minister said this while chairing the All India Conference of Director Generals Inspector Generals of Police 2022 in New Delhi on Friday.

Mr. Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, no one ignores India in any field today. He paid tributes to all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation's security.

3 India International Science Festival to be commenced in Bhopal today

India International Science Festival is commencing in Madhya Pradesh today. The festival, organised at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology-MANIT, Bhopal, will continue till the 24th of January. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the chief guest of the opening ceremony of the India International Science Festival. Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will be present as a special guest.

More than 8,000 delegates from different regions of the country will participate in the science festival being held for the first time in Bhopal. Eminent scientists, researchers, students from universities, colleges and schools, teachers and industry experts will participate in the festival. The theme of this festival is 'Moving towards Amritkal with science, technology and innovation'. 15 activities will be organized in the festival this time.

4 Construction of 109 km green field Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway will reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera by one hour: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said, the Construction of the 109 km green field Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway will reduce the travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera by one hour. This highway will provide direct connectivity to Dholera Green Field Airport. He was briefing the media after inspecting the section of the Ahmedabad-Dholera National Highway near Kavitha village today.

He said that this four-lane highway which will be constructed at an estimated cost of 4,000 crore rupees will significantly contribute to the economic and social development of the Dholera region. Apart from Ahmedabad-Dholera, currently, three other expressways are under construction in the state which includes Delhi Mumbai Expressway, Amritsar Jamnagar Expressway, and Tharad Ahmedabad Expressway.

7 21st edition of Naval Exercise VARUNA between India and France begins

The 21st Edition of the Bilateral Naval Exercise between India and France- Exercise VARUNA commenced on the Western Seaboard on Monday. The exercise will be conducted till the 20th of this month and will witness advanced air defence exercises, tactical manoeuvres, surface firings, underway replenishment and other maritime operations. The Ministry of Defence in a statement said that this exercise provides an opportunity to learn from each other’s best practices. The exercise facilitates operational-level interaction between the two navies to foster mutual cooperation for good order at sea, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to security, safety and freedom of the global maritime commons.

While the bilateral exercise between the two navies was initiated in 1993, it was christened as ‘VARUNA’ in 2001 and has become a hallmark of India - France's strategic bilateral relationship.

10 World's longest River Cruise MV Ganga Vilas to reach Patna today

World's longest River Cruise MV Ganga Vilas will reach Patna in the afternoon today. The Cruise on way to Dibrugarh via Bangladesh is in Bihar. AIR Correspondent reports that 32 tourists from Switzerland relishing the Varanasi to Dibrugarh journey and before arriving in Patna the tourists will visit Chirand archaeological site in the Saran district. It is the first known site of the Neolithic age.

The Director of Bihar Tourism Department Yashaspati Mishra told AIR that elaborate arrangements have been made for the tourists. The cruise will be in Bihar till the 22nd January. MV Ganga Vilas was flagged off from Varanasi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. The Cruise will cover a 3,200 km voyage being pitched as the world's longest.
