with an aim to provide a one-on-one interaction and exchange their cultural presentations and ideas with local Kashmiri Youth, a Student Ideas Exchange program was conducted in collaboration with Director Colleges Kashmir.

To foster the spirit of National Integration and familiarize the participating cadets attending the ongoing Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Special National Integration Camp Srinagar, with local youth and border areas of Kashmir several activities are being organized by NCC Group Srinagar. On 23 Jun, with an aim to provide a one-on-one interaction and exchange their cultural presentations and ideas with local Kashmiri Youth, a Student Ideas Exchange program was conducted in collaboration with Director Colleges Kashmir. Under this program 45 NCC Cadets from different states / UTs of India, visited Amar Singh College, Govt College for Women, MA Road and AAA Memorial College Bemina.

2 India achieves milestone of 101 Million Cubic Meters per Day of gas production

India has achieved the milestone of 101 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meters per Day of gas production.

In a tweet, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, the feat reflects the untiring efforts of India’s energy soldiers and the impact of policy reforms. He said, it is a significant step towards becoming a gas-based economy.

Mr Puri said, since India imports about 50 per cent of its natural gas requirement, enhanced gas production within the country will reduce import dependence. He added that it will bolster efforts towards a sustainable, affordable, and secure energy future for Indian citizens.

3 G20: 3rd Infrastructure Working Group meet to kickstart in Rishikesh from today

The third G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting under India's presidency is going to be held in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh from Monday. A total of 63 delegates from G-20 member countries, invitees and international organizations are expected to take forward the discussions held during the second IWG meeting in Visakhapatnam in March, an official statement said.

5 India saves 249 BU units energy in FY22: BEE report

India conserved 249 billion units (BUs) of electricity to save Rs 1.60 lakh crore in bills for the 2021-22 financial year, according to a BEE report. The report titled National Energy Data: Survey and Analysis 2021-22 was released by Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh on Friday in the national capital. The report by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has been prepared in collaboration with Niti Aayog, the Ministry of Power said.

6 Central govt amends electricity rules, introduces ToD tariff

The Government of India has passed an amendment to the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020, to make two important changes in the prevailing power system. These changes are related to the introduction of Time of Day (ToD) Tariff system and rationalisation of smart metering provisions. In the Time of Day (ToD) Tariff system, rather than being charged for electricity at the same rate at all times of the day, the price you pay for electricity will vary according to the time of day. Tariffs during solar hours (duration of eight hours in a day as specified by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission) of the day shall be 10 to 20% less than the normal tariff, while the tariff during peak hours will be 10 to 20 % higher.

7 India collaborates with USAID to reduce carbon emission in railways

As part of its commitment to reduce carbon footprints, Indian Railways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United States Agency for International Development/India (USAID/India) for collaboration on renewable energy and energy efficiency in the railways. The MoU was signed on June 14, 2023, by Naveen Gulati, Member (Traction and Rolling Stock), Railway Board and Isabel Coleman, Deputy Administrator - USAID, in the presence of Anil Kumar Lahoti, Chairman and CEO, Railway Board.

8 IIT-M proposes sports quota with aim to boost diversity

IIT-M presented the idea at the 55th IIT council meeting, minutes of which were released by the union ministry of education on Thursday. Currently, the IITs don’t have a sports quota. Many of the country’s premium universities, including Delhi University, do.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, IIT-M has proposed a sports quota in IITs with an aim to boost diversity in the country’s premier engineering institutions and to provide an opportunity to students performing well in the field of sport at state, national and international levels, to study at the IITs.

10 RBI imposes ?2.5 crore penalty on Jammu & Kashmir Bank; Axis Bank, Bank of Maharashtra also penalised

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a monetary penalty on three private and public sector lenders on Friday. The central bank charged Jammu & Kashmir Bank with ₹2.5 crore penalty, while the BSE-S0003537" data-name="Bank of Maharashtra">Bank of Maharashtra faced a fine of ₹1.45 crore. Axis Bank received the least amount of penalty among them to the tune of ₹30 lakh.
