Union Minister Pralhad Joshi to inaugurate first Mining Start-up Summit in Mumbai

Union Minister of Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi will inaugurate the first Mining Start-up Summit in Mumbai on 29th of May. The summit is being organized by the Ministry of Mines in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. The Summit will be mainly focusing on innovation and techniques that will support and improve the performance, safety and help in building autonomy in the field of mining and metallurgy.



WCD Ministry invites nominations for Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar

The Women and Child Development Ministry has invited nominations for Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar. The last date for receipt of online application forms is the 31st of July.
 
The Government conducts the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar every year to give due recognition to children with exceptional abilities, who have achieved extraordinary recognition in the fields of Bravery, Sports, Social Service, Science & Technology, Environment, and others. These Awards are given by the President in a special ceremony held in January every year. The awards carry a Cash prize of one lakh rupees, a medal, and a certificate.



IPS officer Praveen Sood takes charge as CBI Director

IPS officer Praveen Sood today took charge as Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A 1986 batch officer, Mr. Sood was earlier serving as Director General of Police in Karnataka. Mr. Sood has served in various important positions during his long tenure of about 37 years. He has supervised the investigation of high-profile cases involving high net-worth individuals. He worked for the strengthening of Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks & Systems and Interoperable Criminal Justice System networks in Karnataka.



PM Modi flags off Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the inaugural run of Vande Bharat Express from Dehradun to Delhi yesterday via video conferencing. This is the first Vande Bharat introduced in Uttarakhand. It will herald a new era of comfortable travel experience, especially for the tourists travelling to the state.

The train has been indigenously built and is equipped with advanced safety features including the Kavach technology.



India beat Japan 3-1 in Men's Junior Asia Cup at Salalah in Oman

In Hockey, the Indian junior men’s hockey team registered 3-1 win over Japan in their second Pool A game of the Men's Junior Asia Cup 2023 in Salalah, Oman, yesterday.

This was India's second win in as many games at the Men's Junior Asia Cup 2023. India will next play Pakistan tomorrow before playing against Thailand in their last pool game on Sunday.



ISRO to launch GSLV-F12 Navigation satellite on May 29th at 10.42 hrs from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh

The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO will launch GSLV-F12 Navigation satellite on May 29th at 10.42 hrs from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. This is a return to flight mission carrying the next generation NavIC satellite that will replace the IRNSS-1G satellite launched in 2016. NavIC is a constellation of seven satellites offering the standard position service for civilian users and restricted service for strategic users. Three satellites of the constellation are placed in the geostationary orbit and four satellites in the inclined geosynchronous orbit. The ground network consists of a control centre, range and integrity monitoring stations and two-way ranging stations. NavIC signals covering 1500kms around India are designed to provide user position accuracy better than 20 meters and timing accuracy better than 50 nanoseconds.



Prez Murmu inaugurates newly built greenfield building of Jharkhand High Court in Ranchi

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the new greenfield building of the High Court of Jharkhand and dedicated the largest court building of the country to the nation. A virtual tour of the High Court spread over an area of 165 acres of land was showcased before the President. The new eco-friendly building of the High Court of Jharkhand has been equipped with energy-saving systems.

On this occasion, the President said that the judiciary should bring more innovative ways for enhancing the access of people towards justice. She emphasised upon the use of rich linguistic skills and developed technology for a wider reach of people to Courts.



Ministry of Civil Aviation launches 5.1 version of RCS- UDAN to enhance connectivity to remote areas of India

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched the 5.1 version of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) to enhance the connectivity to remote areas of the country and achieve last mile connectivity through helicopters. This round has been designed specifically for helicopter routes. The Ministry highlighted that airfare caps have been reduced by as much as 25 percent to make flying in helicopters more affordable for passengers. It further said that Viability Gap Funding (VGF) caps for the operators have been increased substantially for both single and twin-engine helicopters to enhance financial viability for operating the awarded routes.



Prime Minister to flag off Vande Bharat Express train between Dehradun-Delhi this morning

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the inaugural run of Vande Bharat Express train from Dehradun to Delhi this morning through video conferencing. This will be the first Vande Bharat to be introduced in Uttarakhand. The Prime Minster will also dedicate the newly electrified rail line sections in Uttarakhand. The state will have its entire rail route 100 percent electrified with this. Trains run by electric traction on the electrified sections will result in increase in speed of trains and enhance haulage capacity.



UPSC announces result of Civil Services Examination 2022

The Union Public Service Commission announced the result of the Civil Services Examination 2022 on Tuesday. Ishita Kishore has topped the examination while Garima Lohia secured the second rank. Uma Harathi N secured the third position and Smriti Mishra got the fourth rank.
 
Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Ishita Kishore who hails from Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh said, her mother was her backbone in getting this achievement. She highlighted that women empowerment is the area where she would like to work after joining the service.
