Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti, also known as Rabindra Jayanti or Poncheeshe Boishakh in Kolkata, is celebrated annually on May 7 to mark the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, one of India's most celebrated poets, writers and cultural icons. He was born on this day in Kolkata (then known as Calcutta) in 1861. This special day honours his contributions towards Indian literature, music and culture. India, Slovenia Hold 10th Foreign Office Consultations; Boost Cooperation In Trade, Technology, And Defence

The 10th round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Slovenia was held in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking another significant step in enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

The Indian delegation was led by Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Slovenian side was headed by Marko Štucin, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.

During the consultations, both sides conducted a comprehensive review of the progress made in various facets of bilateral cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Slovenia partnership, focusing on areas of mutual benefit. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including political relations, trade and investment, science and technology, innovation, space exploration, digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), migration and mobility, defence, agriculture, as well as people-to-people exchanges and cultural ties.



UAE hosts inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit

The inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS 2025) was launched yesterday in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

The summit is organised by the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) in strategic partnership with the UAE Public Prosecution.

This first-of-its-kind regional gathering brings together policymakers, legal experts, technologists, and youth leaders to define the frameworks for responsible governance of advanced technologies.

Chhattisgarh's first AI Datacentre Park inaugurated by CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Technology services provider RackBank has launched its new AI Datacentre Park in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Spread across 13.5 acres, the new AI Datacentre Park has been built on an initial investment of Rs 1,000 crore, which is scalable to Rs 3,000 crore in 5 years, as per a statement from the company.

The new AI Datacentre Park, which is the first data centre campus in Chhattisgarh, was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai in the presence of Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Honourable Minister, Commerce and Industries, and OP Choudhary, Minister, Finance, Housing and Environment.

Spread across 13.5 acres, the new AI Datacentre Park has been built on an initial investment of Rs 1,000 crore which is scalable to Rs 3,000 crore in 5 years, the company statement noted.



MoU signed for cargo movement by barges over inland waterways

In a bid to start barge services for transporting cargo across key national waterways, the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) on Tuesday (May 6, 2025) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global logistics major Rhenus Logistics India Private Limited.

“As part of the MoU, Rhenus will introduce 100 barges in a phased manner in the national waterways while 20 barges and 6 pushers [are] to be deployed in the first phase, targeting the movement of more than one million tonnes of cargo annually by the end of 2025,” the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said in a statement.

“Inland waterways offer a remarkable opportunity to create a greener, cost-effective, and efficient logistics network,” Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbnanda Sonowal said, speaking at the event.



6TH EDITION OF MARSHAL OF THE AIR FORCE ARJAN SINGH MEMORIAL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT-2025 CONCLUDES AT CHANDIGARH

Air Marshal PK Ghosh, Air Officer-In-Charge, Administration presided over the closing ceremony of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament, as the Chief Guest on 06 May 25, at Chandigarh. The 6th edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament was conducted from 29 Apr to 06 May 25 at Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Stadium of AF Chandigarh. The event involved participation of twelve teams, including Air Force Hockey Teams, from two foreign countries.

The hockey tournament is named after the legendary Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh DFC, whose passion for the game of hockey was unmatched. The IAF legend had always been an inspiration to air warriors as a leader who led from the front, be it during war or in the field of sports.

The final match was played between Indian Railways and Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. The Indian Railways team won the match by 2 Goals (3-1 in the Tie Breaker) . Atuldeep and Amritpal Singh were declared as Man of the Match and Player of the tournament respectively. During a befitting award ceremony, medals and trophies were presented to the teams by the Chief Guest, along with cash awards of Rs 3,00,000/- to Winners and Rs 2,00,000/- to Runners up. Prominent International Hockey Players were also felicitated during the ceremony.



UN Day of Vesak 2025: Voices of solidarity for peace, development

Participants in the 20th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations underlined the significance of solidarity in today's changing world while addressing the opening ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on May 6.

India to host global space exploration summit GLEX 2025 with focus on expanding space leadership

GLEX 2025 is organised by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as the host and the Astronautical Society of India (ASI) as the co-host. This event marks a significant milestone in India's growing stature as a space power on the international stage.

Since its inception in 2010, the Global Space Exploration Conference has become a key platform for global dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in space exploration. This year’s event is set to break records, with over 1800 participants, including 233 delegates from 36 countries.

In a remarkable demonstration of global involvement, GLEX 2025 has received a record 1,275 abstracts from 57 countries, the highest ever for an IAF conference. Of these, 822 abstracts—accounting for 64%—came from India, while the remaining 453 submissions were made by international contributors.
