The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that the first-ever BUDX NBA House in India, an interactive fan event celebrating the convergence of basketball, music and culture, will take place on June 7 and June 8 at the DOME, SVP Stadium, in Mumbai, as per a release from NBA.

Held in conjunction with the 2025 NBA Finals, the two-day event will feature basketball-themed activities, live musical performances, meet-and-greets with five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Gary Payton, photo opportunities with the Larry O'Brien Trophy, as well as performances by Sacramento Kings mascot Slamson, the Kings Dancers and the Kings' dunk team.

"The first BUDX NBA House will be a must-visit destination for the passionate NBA fans in India to come together and celebrate their love of the game amid the excitement of the NBA Finals," said NBA Asia Head of Strategy and NBA India Country Head Rajah Chaudhry, as quoted from a release by NBA

India captain Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect on Wednesday. This comes a day after the national selectors met and decided to remove him as skipper and go with a new leader for the tour of England that starts next month.

Rohit had already retired from T20 Internationals after leading India to the World Cup title last year. He will, however, continue to play ODIs.

“Hello, everyone. I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites,” Rohit posted on social media. “Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format.”

Aiming to envision India's ascent to global economic leadership by its 100th year of independence, renowned economist S P Sharma launched his latest book 'India@2047: Leading the Global Economic Order' in New Delhi on Wednesday.

In a significant stride toward preserving India’s rich legacy in traditional medicine, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, has revived two rare and significant Ayurvedic manuscripts—Dravyaratnākara Nighaṇṭu and Dravyanamākara Nighaṇṭu.

The publications are unveiled during an event organised by the RRAP Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Mumbai. The event was graced by Prof. Vd. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS, New Delhi, who also delivered the keynote address highlighting the ‘Activities of CCRAS, Ministry of Ayush’, in research, digitisation, and revival of traditional Ayurvedic literature.

The manuscripts were critically edited and translated by renowned manuscriptologist and veteran Ayurveda expert, Dr. Sadanand D. Kamat of Mumbai. The release ceremony saw the presence of dignitaries, including Shri Ranjit Puranik, President, Ayurvidya Prasarak Mandal and Managing Director, Shri Dhootapeshwar Limited; Dr. Ravi More, Principal, Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Sion; Dr. Shyam Nabar and Dr. Ashanand Sawant from Ayurvidya Prasarak Mandal; and Dr. R. Govind Reddy, Assistant Director (Ayu), CARI, Mumbai.

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR–National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) to foster collaborative research and innovation in quantum and classical communication technologies.

The partnership is aimed at enhancing the country's self-reliance in communication technologies, particularly in the areas of quantum and classical communications. It will focus on advancing scientific measurement, standardisation, and the development of next-generation communication solutions that are globally competitive and future-ready.

Under the agreement, both organisations will undertake joint R&D initiatives, have shared access to research facilities and technical expertise, and will work on research, development, standardisation, and the delivery of secure, scalable communication technologies. The MoU also includes academic exchanges, workshops, and a focus on intellectual property management to ensure equitable outcomes.

Indian Naval Ship INS Kiltan arrived in Singapore to participate in IMDEX Asia 2025 at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

The visit is part of the Indian Navy’s operational deployment and underscores the robust maritime partnership between India and Singapore.

During the stay, the ships’ crew will engage in a series of bilateral/ multilateral activities, including professional exchanges with the Republic of Singapore Navy and other participating navies of IMDEX Asia 2025.

These engagements aim to strengthen naval cooperation, enhance interoperability, and promote mutual understanding between the two navies.

Guided tours for school children, cross deck visits with participating Navies and curated visits for defence industries are planned to foster greater awareness of maritime security and India’s naval heritage.

The visit highlights the Indian Navy’s commitment to regional security, stability, and the longstanding friendship between the two maritime partners India and Singapore.

Union Minister of Coal and Mines,Shri. G Kishan Reddy today launched a dedicated Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling Website and Stakeholders' Portal – https://nfmrecycling.jnarddc.gov.in – in the presence of the Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey and senior officials from the Ministry of Mines and JNARDDC. The initiative aims to promote a structured, transparent, and sustainable recycling ecosystem in India.

Developed under the implementation guidelines of the National Non-Ferrous Metal Scrap Recycling Framework, the platform is designed to bring together key stakeholders, improve data visibility, and support evidence-based policymaking in the recycling of aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, and critical elements.

Speaking at the launch, Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy said, “India is committed to building a circular economy that optimally utilises its resources. This portal will not only provide real-time visibility into the recycling landscape but also empower all stakeholders to make informed decisions, bridge gaps, and unlock the full potential of our non-ferrous metal sector.”

In a significant step towards revamping vocational education and addressing the rising demand for skilled workforce, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the National Scheme for Upgradation of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and the establishment of five National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs) for Skilling, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.

The initiative will be implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with a total outlay of Rs.60,000 crore over five years. The funding will include Rs. 30,000 crore from the Centre, Rs. 20,000 crore from State Governments, and Rs. 10,000 crore from industry partners. Additionally, 50% of the central share will be co-financed equally by the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.

The government has extended the tenure of CBI Director Praveen Sood for one year beyond 24th of this month. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of Praveen Sood for a period of one year. Mr Sood is an IPS officer of Karnataka Cadre and was to retire on 25th of this month.
