India claimed a bronze medal at the AVC Men’s Volleyball Cup 2026, beating defending champion Bahrain 3-1 in the third-place playoff at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

The host won 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17 to secure its first podium finish in the competition, capping a campaign that began with an unbeaten run in Pool A. India had topped its group with five wins from as many matches, finishing ahead of Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand and Australia.

The bronze was also a strong response to the disappointment of the semifinal, where India pushed Indonesia to five sets before losing 25-15, 24-26, 20-25, 25-19, 13-15.

The government introduced an 'Improvement Notice' mechanism under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 through the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said in a press release.

The new framework allows businesses to correct certain first-time procedural and regulatory lapses before facing penal action, marking a shift towards a more trust-based compliance system.

The Department of Consumer Affairs said the reform supports ease of doing business, encourages voluntary compliance and reduces avoidable litigation without weakening consumer protection.

ISRO on Saturday announced the successful conduct of the hot test of Semi-Cryogenic Engine Power Head Test Article (PHTA) at the thrust level of 175 tonnes.

The test was conducted at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu, on June 24.

ISRO scientists said PHTA encompasses all engine systems except the thrust chamber. This is the eighth test in a series of hot tests using PHTA. The objective of the test included the study of build up after pre-burner ignition and demonstration of steady state operation at higher thrust levels. Previous PHTA tests were conducted at 47% (94 Tonne) and 60% (120 Tonne) thrust levels. This time, the test was at 175 tonne thrust level (88%). It was for the first time and also demonstrated successful operation of main turbo pumps delivering 400 and 500 bar outlet pressures.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah today launched the pilot project of PM Family Care Tracker at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The integrated digital platform will track the health, nutrition and education of beneficiaries from pregnancy until the age of 18 using a unique ID linked to Birth Registration Number or ABHA ID. The system will integrate data from multiple government platforms, generate risk alerts, and monitor key indicators including vaccination, malnutrition, school enrolment and dropout rates.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shah said that in the past 12 years, there have been significant changes in the health sector in the country. He said the government is committed not only to formulating schemes but also to ensuring that benefits reach every needy person. He said that through the PM Family Care Tracker dashboard, the benefits of government schemes will be identified and extended to pregnant women and to children up to 18 years of age.

Ahead of the implementation of the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) from July 1, Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched ‘Rural Internal Audit Portal’ during the Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan here on Sunday (June 28, 2026). The Ministry said the AI-enabled portal marks a significant step towards enhancing transparency, accountability, and technology-driven governance.

The portal is a unified digital platform for end-to-end management of internal audits covering both risk-based and compliance audits. “Conceived by the Office of the Chief Controller of Accounts (CCA), Ministry of Rural Development, and developed in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the Portal represents a significant milestone in the Ministry’s digital governance journey,” the Ministry said, adding that the portal has transformed internal audit from a fragmented, paper-intensive, and largely manual exercise into a transparent, technology-enabled, and data-driven management system.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday conferred with the distinction - 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' by the President of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie.

The honour was conferred upon the Prime Minister for his green leadership, and efforts towards advancing the interests of developing countries and his longstanding commitment towards promoting the Blue Economy, climate action, sustainable management of ocean resources, and the developmental aspirations of Small Island Developing States. Six years after becoming India's primary Covid-19 contact-tracing application, Aarogya Setu is getting its biggest transformation yet. The Government of India is launching Aarogya Setu 2.0, repositioning the platform as a comprehensive national digital health application rather than a pandemic-specific tool. The new version aims to integrate multiple healthcare services under one interface, making it easier for citizens to access medical records, locate healthcare facilities, book appointments, manage health insurance benefits and securely share health information with doctors.

The launch is closely aligned with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), India's flagship initiative to create a digitally connected healthcare ecosystem. Through the use of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs, the government hopes to reduce paperwork, improve continuity of care and make healthcare more accessible, particularly for patients who frequently visit different hospitals or relocate between cities.

The Centre has said that the Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) platform has become India's "One Nation, One Digital Platform" for school education. The platform provides digital learning resources to students and teachers across the country.

Launched in 2017, DIKSHA is led by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) along with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET). The platform supports students from early learning stages to senior secondary classes and is being used by education boards in almost all states and Union Territories.

The Army is set to establish and operationalise its first Integrated Battle Groups (IBG) by next month, marking a significant transformation under which self-contained, agile, brigade-sized fighting units will be carved out of the Panagarh-based XVII Corps — the mountain strike corps (MSC) facing China — for swift deployment in mountainous areas, The Indian Express has learnt.

Sources privy to the development told The Indian Express that the earlier plan was to create four IBGs under the two divisions operating under the XVII MSC — the 59 Division and the 23 Division — by September. However, this is now learnt to have been advanced to July 1.

The Indian Express had first reported in January this year that the long-drawn plans to create IBGs had gathered pace and may be implemented soon.
