1 Indian Coast Guard & Indonesia Coast Guard sign MoU to boost maritime relations

In a significant step towards bolstering the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Indonesia, a MoU has been signed between the Indian Coast Guard and Indonesia Coast Guard.

2 MHA allows final-year exams in universities

The Union Home Ministry has permitted conduct of examinations by Universities and Institutions.

In a letter to the Union Higher Education Secretary, it said that the final Term Examinations are to be compulsorily conducted as per the UGC Guidelines on Examinations and Academic Calendar for the Universities and as per the Standard Operating Procedure approved by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

3 Indian Vice President Venkaiah Naidu launches super app 'Elyments'

India’s first social media super application, Elyments, was launched by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, on Sunday. The app was created by more than 1,000 IT professionals who came together for Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the Art of Living. 

Launching the app, the Vice President termed it as a step towards ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’, and said the youth must be encouraged to come up with Indian alternatives for foreign apps. Elyments is available in eight languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and English. Venkaiah Naidu suggested that the app must be made available in more languages.

The Elyments team said the app has been created with user’s privacy as priority. The data is stored in India and it will not be shared with a third party without consent from users.

4 PM, other BJP leaders pay homage to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on birth anniversary

Home Minister Amit Shah paid tributes to Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, on his birth anniversary. In a tweet, Shah said, he was a visionary leader, who stressed on permanent solutions to India's problems and fought for them throughout his life. He said, Dr. Mookherjee also did very innovative work to improve education and the industrial sector. He was also very supportive of the quality of education and research work. 5 CBSE partners with Facebook for curriculum on digital safety, augmented reality

According to CBSE officials, the comprehensive curriculum is aimed at ensuring online well-being of students and preparing them for the future of work.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Facebook have partnered to launch curriculum on digital safety and online well-being and Augmented Reality for students and educators, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced on Sunday.

"I congratulate CBSE and Facebook on its partnership to introduce certified programmes in Augmented Reality for teachers and Digital Safety and online-wellbeing for students. I encourage the teachers and students to apply for the programmes commencing on July 6," Mr. Nishank wrote on Twitter.

6 PM Modi delivers virtual address on Asadha Poornima; President Kovind inaugurates the event

President Ram Nath Kovind today inaugurated the celebrations organized by International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) on the occasion of Asadha Poornima today. The IBC is celebrating Asadha Poornima, as Dharma Chakra Day. This day commemorates Buddha's First Sermon to his first five ascetic disciples at the Deer Park, Rsipatana in the present day Sarnath near Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

On the occasion, in his video address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the day is also known as Guru Purnima and it's a day to remember our Gurus, who gave us knowledge. 7 Govt postpones JEE, NEET exams in view of COVID-19

Union Government has postponed medical and engineering entrance examinations NEET and JEE in view of COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main examination will be held from 1st to 6th September this year while JEE advanced exam on 27th of September.

National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will be held on 13th of September. In a tweet, Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, the decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education.

The decision was taken following recommendations of an Expert Committee set up by the government to review the feasibility of conducting the exams in July. The panel recommended to postpone the examinations.

8 SAP Launches Global Bharat Programme To Make MSMEs Globally Competitive

New Delhi, June 29: Tech giant SAP India on Monday announced the launch of the Global Bharat programme to equip Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country with digital technologies, and help them become globally more competitive.

The programme, which has been developed in association with Nasscom Foundation, United Nations Development Programme and Pratham InfoTech Foundation, includes three initiatives that focus on enabling greater access to the global marketplace, skill development, and the use of technology tools to drive business for MSMEs.

Speaking about the programme, SAP Indian Subcontinent President and Managing Director Deb Deep Sengupta, said the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy and businesses has been felt majorly by MSMEs across the country.

9 France's Macron picks Jean Castex as PM after Philippe resigns

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has tendered his resignation after heading President Emmanuel Macron's government for three years.

The president swiftly named centre-right mayor Jean Castex to lead a new team of ministers after a reshuffle.

Although Mr Philippe was considered more popular than the president, the ruling party had poor local election results at the weekend.

President Macron promised a "new path" in an interview published on Friday.

Mr Philippe met the president early in the morning and they agreed the government would resign.
