Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shashank Goel, IAS of 90 batch as Additional Secretary in Ministry of Labour and Employment. Shailesh Kumar Singh, IAS of 91 batch has been appointed as Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Manish Kumar Gupta who is presently Principal Commissioner, Delhi Development Authority, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been appointed as Vice-Chairman, Delhi Development Authority in the rank of Additional Secretary.

Chanchal Kumar, lAS of 92 batch has been appointed as Managing Director, National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

2 PM Modi to share his thoughts in 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on All India Radio on Jan 30

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people of the country and abroad in the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on All India Radio at 11 AM on 30th of this month. In a tweet today, Mr. Modi said, on the 30th of this month, the first Mann Ki Baat of 2022 will take place. Mr. Modi said, he is sure the people have lots to share in terms of inspiring life stories and topics. He urged the people to share their stories @mygovindia or the NaMo App.

This edition of Mann ki Baat will be the 85th episode of the monthly radio programme. People can share their views in the NaMo app or MyGov Open Forum. They can also dial the toll-free number 1800-11-7800 and record their message for the Prime Minister in either Hindi or English.

3 59,000 metric tonnes of biomass co-fired in coal fired Thermal power plants

Around 59 thousand metric tonnes of biomass co-fired in coal-based thermal power plants across the country to reduce stubble burning and to reduce carbon footprint of Thermal Power Plants. Power Ministry has said that 21 thousand metric tonnes biomass co-fired in the NCR region only. It said, tenders for 12 million metric tonnes are at different stages.

Union Power Secretary has chaired the second meeting of Steering Committee for SAMARTH- National Mission on Use of Biomass in coal-based thermal Power Plants. He reviewed the status of biomass co-firing and the progress of the actions being taken to promote the co-firing in the thermal power plants in the meeting.

4 Govt of Telangana signs agreement with Formula E for Hyderabad to become host city

Formula E, the most prominent name in the electric car racing space, signed an agreement with the Government of Telangana to make Hyderabad a host city.

Although ideated just 10 years ago in 2011 and the first race held in 2014, its viewership per race is more than half of Formula 1 and is increasing every year quite rapidly. Currently, Formula E boasts of a cumulative viewership of 500 million. Currently, there are more than 20 cities that are being considered for a chance to host a Formula E street race.

As he claimed the India Open Super 500 at IG Stadium on Sunday, Lakshya Sen simultaneously beat Singaporean Loh Kean Yew and the tempting instinct to match the world champion’s showboating.

For a pair of men in their early 20s, both equipped with an exuberant attack, the impulse to get into a ‘who’s faster, who’s hitting harder’ contest could have dragged the Almora man into peril at crucial junctures. But Sen displayed maturity and control, putting to shade the world champion who was crowned only last month. On his debut at the Delhi event, Sen, himself a bronze medallist in the world championships, became the first opponent to hand Kean Yew a defeat on the circuit, with a 24-22, 21-17 victory.

Delhi police is making its first foray into the world of podcasts- a digital audio presentation. Delhi Police aims to establish communication with the masses through its unheard stories of crimes, investigations, heart and humanity when the nation is celebrating its 75th Independence under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The first episode of the podcast, titled 'Kissa Khaki Ka', was aired on the social media handles of the Delhi Police at 2 pm on Sunday.

9 India marks 1st anniversary of nationwide vaccination drive against Covid-19 today

India marks 1st anniversary of nationwIndia marks the first anniversary of the nationwide vaccination drive against Covid-19 today. It was on this day last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the world’s largest vaccination drive to combat the pandemic. Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister had said, never before in history, has this type of a large-scale vaccination campaign been undertaken.
 
Vaccination had begun with health workers on 16th January last year. Then it opened for frontline workers on 2nd February last year, followed by the 60-plus age group and those above 45-years and comorbid from 1st March and for all above 18 years from 1st May in 2021. The drive for administering precautionary dose to the healthcare workers, frontline workers and sixty plus individuals commenced on 10th this month.
 

Vaccination of children in the age-group of 15-18 years was started from 3rd of this month. Meanwhile, India’s Covid vaccination coverage has crossed 156 crore 63 lakh mark. Health Ministry said, more than 57 lakh 29 thousand Doses were administered yesterday.
