1 China launches third crewed mission to new space station

China successfully launched another manned mission to its new space station on Sunday, sending three astronauts who will continue construction work for six months, China's Manned Space Agency (CMSA) announced.

The astronauts lifted off on the Shenzhou-14 spacecraft at 10:44 a.m. local time, launched by a Long March 2F rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert, Inner Mongolia.
The team will live and work at the Tiangong Space Station's Tianhe core module for six months before returning to Earth in December. Tiangong means Heavenly Palace.

2 PM Modi to launch national portal for credit linked govt schemes on June 6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the national portal for credit-linked government schemes- Jan Samarth Portal in New Delhi on Monday. It is a one-stop digital portal linking Government credit schemes. The portal is also a first of its kind platform which directly connects beneficiaries to lenders. The main purpose of Jan Samarth portal is to encourage inclusive growth and development of various sectors by guiding and providing them with the right type of government benefits through simple and easy digital processes.

Mr. Modi will inaugurate the Iconic Week Celebrations of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs tomorrow at 10:30 AM. This week is being celebrated as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from 6th to 11th June.

3 Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates Food Laboratory of FSSAI at Raxaul in Bihar

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya today inaugurated the National Food Laboratory of FSSAI at Raxaul in Bihar.

This laboratory has been established under the Indo-Nepal bilateral agreement to reduce the time in the testing of imported food samples brought into Raxaul from Nepal. Earlier, all the imported samples having legal sanctity were being sent to National Food Laboratory at Kolkata, for testing.

On this occasion, Mr. Mandaviya said, the exporters from Nepal will find it easier to export more and more food products into India after the inauguration of a food testing laboratory in Raxaul. The Minister said, the laboratory is likely to get accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) by July-August this year and will start the analysis of the import samples under the product categories of Cereal and Cereal products, Fat and Oil, Spices and Condiments, Fruits and vegetable products and Packaged drinking.

4 President Kovind inaugurates Sant Kabir Academy and Research Centre in UP

President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated Sant Kabir Academy and Research Centre at Sant Kabir Nagar in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

He said the life of Kabir is an epitome of human virtue and his teachings are still relevant even after 650 years today. He described Kabir’s life as an ideal example of communal solidarity.

The President, in his address, said Kabir emphasised that humanity can only be served by having an attitude of affection towards the downtrodden. Though Kabir did not have formal education, he acquired knowledge by the company of saints, he said adding Kabir’s teaching had shaken the conscience of the fragmented society. Kabir spread the message of love, devotion and harmony in the tumultuous times when India faced the wrath of foreign invaders, he added. Kabir communicated directly to the masses in their local dialect and it was necessary to awaken the society which was divided on the lines of caste and creed, he said.

5 PM Modi launches Global initiative ‘Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) Movement; Calls for human centric and collective efforts that further sustainable development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the challenges of planet earth are well-known to all and the need of the hour is human-centric, collective efforts and robust action that further sustainable development.

Launching a global initiative Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement, on the occasion of World Environment Day today through video conferencing, Mr Modi said, the vision of LiFE is to live a lifestyle that is in tune with our planet and does not harm it and those who live such a lifestyle are called Pro-Planet People. He said, Mission LiFE borrows from the past, operates in the present and focuses on the future.

The launch initiated ‘LiFE Global Call for Papers’ inviting ideas and suggestions from academics, universities and research institutions etc to influence and persuade individuals, communities and organisations across the world to adopt an environment-conscious lifestyle.

6 1.2 meter Trisonic wind tunnel at NAL Bengaluru completes 55 years of glorious service

The 1.2 meter Trisonic wind tunnel at National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) in Bengaluru has completed its 55 years of glorious service to the nation. Built between 1963 and 1967, the first blowdown test was conducted on May 29, 1967.

It has achieved an important milestone of 55,000 blowdowns. The highest speed of this tunnel is Mach 4.0 which is four times the speed of sound. The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO and Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO) have tested their launch vehicles, missiles and aircraft here. ISRO has tested ASLV, PSLV, SLV, SSLV, GSLV, RLV and Gaganyaan satellite launch vehicles in the tunnel. 

DRDO has tested Agni, Akaash, Prithvi, Pralay, SRSAM, LRSAM, ASTRA, NAG, Brahmos, Nirbhay missiles and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in the tunnel. The nation’s first Light Combat Aircraft Tejas was conceived at this facility. Mirage 2000, Sukhoi 30, Jaguar, MiG aircraft were successfully integrated with weapons and tested in the tunnel.

7 PM Modi to inaugurate Iconic Week Celebrations of Finance, Corporate Affairs ministries; also to launch Jan Samarth Portal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Iconic Week Celebrations of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on Monday in New Delhi. This week is being celebrated as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from today till 11th of June.

During the programme, Mr Modi will launch the national portal for credit-linked government schemes- Jan Samarth Portal. It is a one-stop digital portal linking Government credit schemes. It’s a first-of-its-kind platform which directly connects beneficiaries to lenders. The main purpose of Jan Samarth portal is to encourage inclusive growth and development of various sectors by guiding and providing them with the right type of government benefits through simple and easy digital processes. The portal ensures end to end coverage of all the linked schemes. The Prime Minister will inaugurate a Digital Exhibition which traces the journey of the two Ministries over the past eight years. He will also release special series of 1 rupees, 2 rupees, 5 rupees, 10 rupees and 20 rupees coins. These special series of coins will have the theme of the logo of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and will also be easily identifiable to the visually impaired persons.The programme will also be organised simultaneously at 75 locations across the country and each location will be connected through virtual mode with the main venue.

8 Telemedicine service 'eSanjeevani' integrated with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

The National Health Authority (NHA) has announced the successful integration of National Telemedicine Service- eSanjeevani with its flagship scheme- Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

The integration allows the existing users of e-Sanjeevani to easily create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and use it to link and manage their existing health records like prescriptions and lab reports, etc. The users would also be able to share their health records with doctors on eSanjeevani which will help in better clinical decision making and ensuring the continuum of care.

Speaking about the significance of this integration, Dr. R. S. Sharma, CEO of the National Health Authority said that Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission aims at building digital highways to bridge the gaps in existing digital health solutions and stakeholders in India.

9 Cycling Expedition by INS Eksila

On the occasion of ‘World Bicycle Day’, a cycling expedition by Indian Naval personnel from INS Eksila to Thatipudi Water Reservoir near S. Kota in Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh has been flagged off by Rear Admiral Sandeep Pradhan, Chief Staff Officer (Personnel & Administration), HQENC on Friday. The team covered a distance of 140 km through hilly terrain and also carried out a cleanup drive at the Reservoir, as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

 ‘World Bicycle Day’ is celebrated to recognise the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for more than two centuries. Bicycles are simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport.

10 President to attend Centenary Celebration of Gita Press at Gorakhpur on Saturday evening

President Ram Nath Kovind has reached Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to participate in the Centenary Celebrations of the Gita Press, the world’s largest publisher of Hindu religious books. The President will visit Gorakhnath temple in the evening.

The main event of the day is held at the premises of the Gita Press at around five P.M. Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will accompany the President on the occasion.

Trustees of the Gita Press have gathered from across the states to welcome the President. Mr. Kovind will visit the Lila Chitra Mandir in the press’s complex. The temple hosts various pictures of the Gods and Goddesses which are used in the cover page of the Gita Press books and scriptures.
