2 President-elect Droupadi Murmu to be sworn-in as 15th President of India

President-elect Droupadi Murmu will be sworn-in as President of India in the Central Hall of Parliament today. Outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife Savita Kovind extended greetings to Ms Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. Mr Kovind and Ms Murmu will arrive in the Central Hall in a ceremonial procession.

Chief Justice of India NV Ramana will administer the oath of the office of the President to Mrs Murmu, which will be followed by a 21-Gun Salute. At the conclusion of the ceremony in the Central Hall, the President will leave for Rashtrapati Bhavan where an Inter-Services Guard of Honour will be given to her in the Forecourt and courtesies will be extended to the outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind.

3 CBSE Result: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulates Class X and XII students

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the students on announcement of Class X and Class XII results by CBSE. He said that this is a moment to rejoice for teachers, parents, and significant others who play an important role in any student's success and wished all students a happy, healthy, and bright future. Terming this period for students, Mr Pradhan suggested students think about what they want to do in the future.

Encouraging the students who are not satisfied with their results, he said that the world is replete with examples of people who did not excel in exams but did exceedingly well in life. Citing his own example, Mr Pradhan said that he was an average student who did not score high in exams. He added that life manifests itself in unimaginable ways if one is ready to embrace it and put in the hard work.

4 Prime Minister pays tributes to Lokmanya Tilak And Chandra Shekhar Azad on their birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today bow to two great sons of Maa Bharti, Lokmanya Tilak and Chandra Shekhar Azad on their birth anniversary. In a tweet, Mr. Modi said, these two stalwarts epitomize courage and patriotism. The Prime Minister also shared what he had spoken about Lokmanya Tilak and Chandra Shekhar Azad during Mann Ki Baat a few years ago.

5 Oath taking ceremony of new President on Monday at Central Hall of Parliament

Chief Justice of India, Justice N V Ramana will administer the oath of office to Ms Murmu on Monday at the Central Hall of Parliament.

64-year-old Droupadi Murmu is the youngest President of the country. She is the first President of India who is born after Independence. in 1997, Ms Murmu first joined politics and was elected councilor in Rairangpur Notified Area Council. She served twice as an MLA from the Rairangpur assembly constituency from 2000 to 2009 and once as a Minister for Commerce, Transport, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development in Odisha Government. On 18th May 2015, Mr Murmu took oath as Governor of Jharkhand and stayed in the post till 12th July last year. She was the first woman Governor of the state and the first female tribal leader to serve as a Governor in any Indian state.

6 Government says, Fit India and Khelo India Campaigns have been very successful

Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur has said that the Fit India Campaign and Khelo India have been very successful. He said it was due to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Fit India Campaign was launched and the idea was to make the youth of the country mentally and physically fit. He said this while addressing the felicitation ceremony of the Fit India Quiz, state-level winners organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in Mumbai last evening.

Mr Thakur said, 13 thousand 502 schools and 36 thousand 299 students from 626 districts participated in the Fit India Quiz. He said, the winners of the fit India quiz are the ambassadors of sports and fitness, adding that the amount of knowledge they have is not possessed by others.

7 Central Board of Secondary Education announces Class XII results

The Central Board of Secondary Education today announced Class XII results. The Pass percentage 92.71 per cent. In all, 14 lakh 35 thousand 366 students appeared in Class XII Board Examination. The pass percentage of boys is 91.25 per cent and the pass percentage of girls is 94.54 per cent. The girls have done better than boys by 3.29 per cent. The CBSE said, 30 per cent weightage was given to the first term exams and 70 per cent weightage to the second term exams. Over 33 thousand students have scored above 95 per cent and one lakh 34 thousand students scored above 90 per cent during the examination.

8 Union Cabinet approves signing of MoU in field of Judicial Cooperation between India and Maldives

The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Judicial Cooperation between India and Judicial Service Commission of Maldives.

This is the eighth MoU signed between India and other countries in the field of Judicial Cooperation. This MoU will provide a platform to tap the benefits of Information Technology for court digitization and can be a potential growth area for the IT companies and start-ups in both countries. In recent years, the close relationship between India and Maldives has intensified multi-dimensionally.

With the signing of this agreement on cooperation in the field of law and justice, the good relations between the two countries will receive further impetus.

9 SBI launches WhatsApp Banking Services to make banking easier for its customers

India’s largest public sector lender, State Bank of India has launched its WhatsApp Banking services to make banking easier for its customers. Now, SBI customers can avail certain banking services using WhatsApp, which may come in handy for many as they do not have to download the app or go to the ATM anymore. SBI customers can get their Account Balance and view Mini Statement on WhatsApp.

SBI WhatsApp Banking services will be available to customers when they send a message saying ‘Hi’ on the number 919022690226. State Bank of India will also offers WhatsApp-based services to its credit card holders through the platform under the name of SBI Card WhatsApp connect. Through this, SBI credit card customers can check their account summary, reward points, outstanding balance and make card payments.

10 Former SC judge Vineet Saran appointed BCCI ethics officer

Former Supreme Court judge Vineet Saran has taken over as the BCCI’s ethics officer and ombudsman, filling the dual posts lying vacant for a year.

Saran has succeeded Justice (Retd) D. K. Jain, whose term ended in June last year.

“Honourable Justice Saran’s appointment was made last month,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Saran, 65, is a former Chief Justice of Odisha High Court, and also served as a judge in Karnataka and Allahabad High Court.

When contacted, Saran, who calls himself a cricket lover, said: “I took charge last month, but I have not passed any order yet.”
