Right ahead of an investors roadshow in London on Tuesday to pitch the Global Investors Summit scheduled in Dehradun in December, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received a traditional welcome from members of the Indian diaspora.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand,Dhami, is leading a four-day delegation to the UK. India’s Deputy High Commissioner Sujit Ghosh received him at the airport in London on Monday evening. Later, a cultural gathering was also organised by community groups with their roots in Uttarakhand.

2 State govt decided to provide free of cost treatment to patients in state’s premier medical institution IGIMS Patna

In a major decision to boost health services for citizens of Bihar, the state government has decided to provide free of cost treatment to the patients in state’s premier medical institution Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna.

This decision was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Briefing the media in Patna, Additional Chief Secretary of Cabinet Coordination Department S. Siddharth said this will benefit poor patients, who can now avail free services for medicines, surgery, medical tests and other pathological tests.

3 PhonePe, a digital payment platform in India, has launched its own app store

PhonePe, a digital payment platform in India, has launched its own app store called the Indus Appstore Developer Platform to challenge Google's Play Store monopoly. The app store will offer a localised experience in 12 languages and give developers an alternative to Google's platform fees and commission charges. The Indus Appstore will not charge developers any platform fee or commission for in-app payments, and app listings will be free for the first year. PhonePe's move provides app developers with a credible alternative and offers better app discovery and consumer engagement.

4 India win historic gold in equestrian team dressage at Asian Games after 41 years

India claimed the team dressage gold in equestrian sport at the Asian Games here on Tuesday, breaking a 41-year-old jinx at the continental event.

The team comprising Divyakriti Singh astride Adrenalin Firfod, Hriday Vipul Chhed (Chemxpro Emerald) and Anush Agarwalla (Etro) aggregated 209.205 percentage points on way to the top podium finish.

Sudipti Hajela was also part of the team, but only the top three scores were counted in the event.

China were second with 204.882 percentage points, while Hong Kong finished with a bronze with 204.852 points.

5 India's Neha Thakur bags silver medal in sailing

India secured its third gold today on Day 3 of the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. This brings the overall medal tally for the country to 14 medals- 3 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze. In Equestrian Dressage Team event, the quartet of Hriday Chheda, Anush Agarwalla, Sudipti Hajela and Divyakriit Singh scored 209.205 points to win the gold against China in a tough competition today. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi congratulated the team for winning the gold medal in the team event after 41 years at the Asian Games.
 
Beginning the medal streak today was the women's dinghy event champion, Neha Thakur, grabbing the silver medal. The 17-year old sailor finished with a net score of 27, winning India's first sailing medal in this edition. The second medal in sailing, a bronze, was clinched by Eabad Ali. He worked hard for a net score of 52 in the RS:X Men’s sailing event. The Prime Minister hailed both Thakur and Ali’s splendid performance in the sailing events emphasizing that nothing is impossible for our young talents.

NASA’s first asteroid samples fetched from deep space parachuted into the Utah desert on September 24 to cap a seven-year journey.

In a flyby of Earth, the Osiris-Rex spacecraft released the sample capsule from 100,000 km (63,000 miles) out. The small capsule landed four hours later on a remote expanse of military land, as the mothership set off after another asteroid.
