"FITEXPO INDIA is more like a 'Kumbh mela' for sports, fitness and wellness and connects with the growing base of sports lovers, fitness enthusiasts and wellness practitioners while providing a 360-degree view of these rapidly expanding sectors where health, wealth and commerce go hand in hand under the same roof with overarching commercial benefits in the long run. The Indian sports, fitness and wellness sector, under Khelo India and Fit India, is now five times bigger," said Gagan Sachdev, founder-director of THE FITEXPO INDIA and Vice-President, Calcutta Sports Dealers Association (CSDA).

2 Madhya Pradesh gets India’s largest tiger reserve in Damoh

The Central government has approved a proposal to merge the two wildlife sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh to create the largest tiger reserve in the country spanning 2,300 square kilometres, ANI reported on Sunday.

The Union government has issued a notification regarding the approval of the proposal to merge the Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary—located in central Madhya Pradesh covering parts of Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, and Raisen districts—with the Rani Durgavati Wildlife Sanctuary in the Damoh district of the state, the report said citing a forest department official.

5 NIDM, TERI sign strategic partnership in disaster risk reduction

The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) to forge a strategic partnership in disaster risk reduction. Speaking during an event on 24th Nov 2023, Friday, the Executive Director of NIDM Rajendra Ratnoo said that this partnership signifies a joint commitment to contribute to the national agenda of disaster risk reduction, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in building a resilient and safer India.

The MOU will serve as a platform to formalise the strategic partnership and facilitate research, capacity building, and training. According to NIDM currently 260 universities and institutions are part of the disaster risk reduction programme.

6 Union Minister Devusinh Chauhan inaugurates Hamfest 2023 at Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan on Saturday inaugurated Hamfest 2023 at Science City, Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chauhan lauded the role of ham radio in helping people during natural calamities like earthquakes and cyclones.

The minister also said that the government will make necessary efforts to ensure that there is at least one Ham radio operator in each village of the country. More than 800 Ham Radio operators from all over the country are participating in the two-day conclave.

7 Centre renames Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres as Ayushman Arogya Mandir

The central government on Sunday (26 November 2023) renamed Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres as Ayushman Arogya Mandir with the tagline Arogyam Paramam Dhanam. In a letter to all States and Union Territories, the Union Health Ministry has issued guidelines to suitably replace the existing title across all operationalized Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres. The Ministry has also asked to upload pictures of the primary health facilities upon successful completion of the renaming task.

8 PM Modi to take part in World Climate Action Summit in Dubai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the World Climate Action Summit (WCAS) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), during the 28th Conference of Parties (CoP-28), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on November 26.

Mr. Modi will be present from November 30 to December 1 as part of WCAS proceedings. CoP-28 is being held from November 28 to December 12, under the Presidency of the UAE.

At this event, also called the “high-level segment”, world leaders or their representatives are expected to make statements on behalf of their countries outlining their intent and contribution to stemming greenhouse gas emissions. There is no official confirmation yet if the Prime Minister will make a statement.
