Information and Broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur today inaugurated the Virtual Drone E learning platform at Agni College of Technology at Chengalpet near Chennai .The Minister also flagged off the drone yatra.

Speaking at the event, Mr.Thakur said that drone technology is essential for defence, agriculture, horticulture, cinema and could substitute for many areas.

2 Winter Session of Parliament begins today

The Winter Session of the Parliament will begin today and continue till 29th of this month. In a tweet, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, there will be 17 sittings spread over 23 days. He said, government is looking forward to discussions on legislative business and other items in constructive manner. This will be the first session during which Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, will officiate proceedings in the Upper House.

3 RBI to announce its bi-monthly monetary policy today

Reserve Bank of India will announce its bi-monthly monetary policy today. Experts expect a moderate interest rate hike of 25 to 35 basis points as inflation has started showing signs of easing. State Bank of India Group Chief Economic Advisor Soumya Kanti Ghosh said, we expect the RBI to hike rates in smaller magnitude. He said, a 35 basis points repo rate hike looks imminent.

The current policy repo rate is 5.9 per cent. RBI has hiked key benchmark lending rate by 50 basis points thrice since June with an aim to check inflation. Retail inflation is showing signs of modertaion but still remains above the central bank's upper tolerance level of 6 per cent since January this year. The inflation dropped to 6.77 per cent in October, mainly due to easing prices in the food basket.

4 Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh to inaugurate a conference on “Women Leading Change in Health and Science in India” in New Delhi tomorrow

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh will inaugurate a conference titled, “Women Leading Change in Health and Science in India” in New Delhi tomorrow.

Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Ms. Melinda French Gates, Co-chair and Trustee Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Ms. Amie Batson, Executive Director, WomenLift Health will also address the conference.

5 India, Germany sign Migration and Mobility Agreement for easier access to study, research and work in both countries

A meeting was held between External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar and Federal Foreign Affairs Minister of Germany Annalena Baerbock in New Delhi today. During the meeting, both leaders reviewed bilateral relations and shared their views on a number of important regional and global issues. Both sides have signed a Migration and Mobility Agreement which will facilitate easier access for people to study, research and work in both countries.

6 Union Minister Nitin Gadkari congratulates NHAI, Maha Metro on achieving Guinness Book of World Record

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has congratulated National Highway Authority of India and Maha Metro on achieving the Guinness Book of World Record by constructing longest Double Decker Viaduct with Highway Flyover and Metro Rail Supported on single column in Nagpur. In a series of tweets, Mr Gadkari said, the project has already bagged records from Asia Book and India Book. The Minister saluted the engineers, officers and workers who persevered round the clock to make this happen.

7 Indian High Commission releases volume II of Jataka Tales audio book in Colombo

The second volume of Jataka Tales audio book in Sinhala was released at Swami Vivekananda Cultural centre in Colombo on Friday.

Speaking at the release event, High Commissioner of India Gopal Baglay described the audio book as a ‘dhamma daana’ from the people of India to the people of Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan Pirivena education minister Vijitha Berugoda expressed gratitude towards Indian support for ‘Pirivenas’ and ‘Dhamma education’.

8 Indian Navy conducts operational demonstrations on Navy Day in Kochi

Flypast by naval aircraft and helicopters, search and rescue operations, helobatics, mock oil rig demolition were among the several spectacular demonstrations performed by the Indian Navy, enthralling spectators at the Rajendra Maidan in Kochi on Sunday evening. The demonstrations were part of the Navy Day celebrations organised by the Southern Naval Command.

Beating the Retreat was performed by the Naval Band while naval ships anchored along the backwaters were illuminated to mark the occasion.

9 MoS for Atomic Energy & Space Dr. Jitendra Singh to lead Indian delegation to UAE at Abu Dhabi Space Debate

Minister of State for Atomic Energy and Space Dr. Jitendra Singh will lead the Indian delegation to United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Abu Dhabi Space Debate beginning today, December 5. 

Dr. Singh will address the Opening Ceremony along with Israeli President Isaac Herzog. During the two-day International meet, the Minister will also attend the Ministerial Plenary on the ‘Role of Foreign Policy in Enabling Space Diplomacy and International Cooperation.

10 Parakram Diwas to be celebrated in Rajasthan to mark 51st anniversary of Longewala battle

To mark the 51st anniversary of India's victory in the Longewala battle during the 1971 war, Parakram Diwas will be celebrated at Jaisalmer Military Station and Longewala War Memorial in Rajasthan today, December 5.
