Earlier this month, the central government’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued an advisory flagging the emergence of a new ransomware called Akira. The Gurgaon police have also raised an alert about Akira.

Ransomware is essentially a kind of malware — a software used to gain unauthorised access to systems to steal data. This data can then be used by cyber criminals to demand a ransom.

3 CSIR-NIScPR organised NIScPR-SVASTIK Lecture on "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”

CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) organised a lecture under its SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) division. SVASTIK is a PMO monitored initiative coordinated by CSIR-NIScPR. This was the fourth session of the NIScPR-SVASTIK Lecture Series. This lecture was centred on the topic "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".

The NIScPR-SVASTIK Lecture session was a momentous occasion that witnessed the convergence of eminent scholars, researchers, Yoga practitioners, and enthusiastic participants, who came together to explore the profound philosophy of Yoga and its relevance in fostering a global family. Shri Hasan Jawaid Khan, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NIScPR, delivered the Welcome Address and gave insightful introductory remarks on SVASTIK, setting the tone for the enlightening sessions that followed.

4 Indian Army dedicates Amrit Sarovar in Arunachal Pradesh's Tenga Valley

The Indian Army, in collaboration with the District Administration, West Kameng District, inaugurated the Amrit Sarovar at Tenga Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, as part of the government's Mission Amrit Sarovar initiative.

5 Indian-American policy expert Nisha Biswal becomes Deputy Chief Executive Officer of US finance agency

Indian-American policy expert Nisha Biswal is confirmed by the Senate to serve as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a US finance agency. Ms. Biswal will serve as the Deputy CEO of the United States International Development Finance Corporation. A White House press release said that US President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Nisha Desai Biswal earlier in March this year for the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the United States International Development Finance Corporation. She has a high-profile career of over 30 years of experience in US foreign policy and international development programmes within the White House; US Congress and the private sector. Ms. Biswal currently holds the position of Senior Vice President for International Strategy and Global Initiatives at the US Chamber of Commerce, overseeing the US-India Business Council and US-Bangladesh Business Council.

6 Jammu in August to get fleet of 100 e-buses under Smart City Project Limited

In Jammu and Kashmir, the winter capital of the Union Territory, Jammu is all set to get a fleet of 100 e-buses from the month of August under Smart City Project Limited. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the busses will be supplied by TATA Limited and are expected to make a major contribution to cutting carbon emissions and fostering a cleaner environment. Out of 100 e-busses for Jammu city, 75 (9-meter model) e-buses are arriving in August and 25 (12-meter) vehicles will be ply outside Jammu district and the complete fleet is expected to reach in the next few days.

7 India bags six medals including four Golds at World University Games in Chengdu, China

Indian shooters and archers bagged six medals including four golds at the World University Games in Chengdu, China today. Shooters Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Divyansh Singh Panwar and Arjun Babuta joined forces to outclass local favourites China to win the 10m air rifle men’s team gold. Aishwary also secured gold in the 10m air rifle men’s individual event.
 
Avneet Kaur pipped USA’s Alyssa Grace Sturgill in a thrilling shoot off to clinch the compound women’s individual gold. Sangampreet Bisla and Aman Saini clinched the gold and bronze medals in the men’s individual event. India have won 17 medals, nine gold, three silver and five bronze, and are second in the tournament. Hosts China lead the standings with a haul of 21 medals.

8 Siddhanta Gogoi crowned 61kg junior Asian champion; Gyaneshwari, Koyel win silver medals

India's Siddhanta Gogoi clinched the men's 61kg junior title while Gyaneshwari Yadav and Koyel Bar secured silver medals in the women's 49kg event at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships here on Sunday.

The 19-year-old Siddhanta, who had upstaged senior Shubham Todkar earlier this month at the Commonwealth Championships, lifted 265kg (116kg+149kg) to give hosts India their first gold medal of the ongoing edition.

It was 5kg better than his 260kg (112kg+148kg) effort that fetched him the CWC junior title and would have won him the senior title as well had he competed.

9 India wins gold in mixed team compound archery

The compound mixed archery team of Aman Saini and Pragati clinched a gold medal, India’s fourth in the event, at the World University Games in Chengdu, China on Sunday.

Aman and Pragati put up a brilliant show in the final to win the yellow metal, beating their rivals 157-156 in a thrilling summit clash.

India is currently placed fourth in the medal standings with 10 medals including four gold, two silver and four bronze.

10 Iga Swiatek beats Laura Siegemund to win Warsaw Open

Iga Swiatek cruised to the title in her home tournament, the Warsaw Open with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over exhausted Laura Siegemund on Sunday.

The world No. 1 completed two busy days by sweeping aside her German opponent in 68 minutes for a second victory of the day.

“I wanted to put it all in and go for it. I’m pretty happy that I did,” Swiatek said in her winner’s speech.
