2 RBI approves reappointment of ICICI Bank MD Sandeep Bakhshi for 3 years

The Reserve Bank of India has approved the reappointment of ICICI Bank MD and CEO Sandeep Bakhshi for three years, with effect from October 4.

The reappointment tenure will be effective till October 3, 2026, the private sector lender notified the exchanges.

The board of directors of the bank had approved the reappointment in October 2022, whereas shareholders approved it at the annual general meeting held on August 30.

3 TCS partners with Dassault Systems to create accurate digital human heart models

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Monday announced that it has partnered with Dassault Systems through its Living Heart Project that unites an ecosystem of cardiovascular researchers, educators, medical device developers, regulatory agencies including US FDA, and practicing cardiologists, to develop and validate realistic digital simulations of the human heart.

“The project will create groundbreaking medical solutions, including the use of heart simulation as a source of digital evidence for new cardiovascular device approvals. This includes an in-silico clinical trial that could complement the evidence drawn from clinical subjects while reducing the need for animal testing and human enrollment for clinical trials,” the company said in a regulatory filing.

Tata Steel Limited shareholders on Monday approved re-appointment of TV Narendran as the global Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the next five years, the company said in an exchange filing.

Narendran got 99.47% of the total shareholders' votes in his favor during the meeting to approve the decision to re-appoint him for the next five years, the company added.

5 Dennis Austin, Co-Creator Of PowerPoint, Dies At 76

Dennis Austin, the co-creator of PowerPoint presentation died at his home in Los Altos, California on September 1, he was 76. His son, Michael Austin, told the Washington Post that he was suffering from lung cancer metastasising to his brain.

Mr Austin had studied engineering at several universities, including MIT and UC Santa Barbara, before joining the software company Forethought as a software developer and co-developing Powerpoint. According to The Washington Post, the company released the software in 1987, and Microsoft bought the company just a few months later for $14 million. Mr. Austin was the PowerPoint's primary developer from 1985 to 1996 when he retired.

10 M.P. approves scheme to give compensation to victims of mob lynching

The Madhya Pradesh government on September 9 approved a scheme to provide compensation to victims of mob lynching.

The Cabinet, which was chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also approved change of name of a housing scheme.

In accordance with Supreme Court directives to the states, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved MP Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme 2023, said Minister for Medical Education Vishwas Sarang after the Cabinet meeting.

Under this scheme, mob lynching has been specified as killing of any person or persons by a group of five or more persons on grounds of religion, caste, sex, place of birth, language, food habits, sexual orientation, political affiliation, ethnicity or other such ground or grounds, an official said.
