Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the security of the border can be ensured only when the border villages are populated. He said, along with the deployment of Jawans on the borders, only the patriotic citizens living in the village can provide permanent security. Mr Shah said this while launching the Mobile App ‘Prahari’ and Manual of Border Security Force in New Delhi today.
He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently started the Vibrant Village programme. He urged all the Border Security Forces that through the Vibrant Village program, they should make efforts towards increasing tourism in the village, making the village self-sufficient with complete facilities. The Minister said that the security of the borders of the country cannot be ensured by pillars or fencing, but by the bravery, patriotism and alertness of the soldiers standing on that border.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurates Goa's new Zuari bridge
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Goa's new Zuari bridge yesterday. The bridge is an important link between North and South Goa.
This 13.20-kilometer eight-lane bridge costing 2530 Crores across Zuari river from Bambolim to Verna will have significant benefits for transport from North Goa to South Goa. It will reduce travel time between North Goa to South Goa by 30 minutes by strengthening connectivity for Mormugao Port Trust.

India and Cyprus sign agreement on defence and military cooperation
India and Cyprus have signed a number of agreements in various areas including on Defence and Military Cooperation between the two countries.
A Letter of Intent on Migration and Mobility Partnership was also signed to provide a common framework of arrangement and cooperation to facilitate the mobility of students, academics, business people and professionals. It will also help in combating irregular migration.
The agreements were signed following talks between External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar and Foreign Minister of Cyprus. Dr Jaishankar is on an official visit to Cyprus and Austria from today till 3rd of next month.
CBSE releases date sheet for Class X and XII Board Exams
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the date sheet for Class X and XII Board Exams 2023. Class 10th and 12th exams will begin from 15th February next year. The board exams for Class 10 will conclude on March 21st. For Class 12, the exams will end on April 5.
The exams will start at 10.30 am. The detailed board sheet is available at the official CBSE website -

. The CBSE said that competitive examinations including JEE Main have been taken care of while preparing the date sheet for Class XII.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben passes away in Ahmedabad
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Smt. Heeraben cremated at the crematorium in Gandhinagar. Shrimati Hiraben breathed her last at UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center Ahmedabad at early morning 3.30 am today.
Prime Minister Modi came to Ahmedabad this morning and after his arrival, the mortal remains of Smt Heeraben cremated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with modi family members, close relatives, Chief Minister of the state Bhupendrabhai Patel and many others were present during last rites.
India Australia Economic and Cooperation Trade Agreement comes into force
India Australia Economic and Cooperation Trade Agreement (ECTA) has come into force. The agreement will provide duty-free access to a number of Indian goods across different sectors in Australia benefitting the Indian manufacturing industries and also creating 10 lakh jobs.

Department of Posts launches Online request Transfer Portal for Gramin Dak Sevaks
The Department of Posts has launched an Online request Transfer Portal for Gramin Dak Sevaks. Director General, of Postal Services Alok Sharma, launched the portal through Video Conference. He informed that the entire transfer process, from the stage of seeking applications, approval, and issuing transfer orders, has now been made paperless and simple through this portal.
The Department of Posts has the largest network of Post Offices in the world consisting of more than over one lakh 56 thousand Post Offices across India. The launch of the online request transfer portal is a huge step in bringing transparency and accountability to the governance processes by leveraging technology.
