Former President Ram Nath Kovind addresses Phase-1 training program 'Vipassana'

Former President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the Phase-1 training program 'Vipassana' camp of 2022 batch trainees, and officers at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie on Tuesday.
 
Kovind said that to build a Golden India, work will have to be done with modern and service-oriented thinking. He urged the officers to play a leading role in the ongoing national campaign against corruption. Addressing the trainee officers, he said as an officer they have to proceed in their work with the spirit of transparency, fairness and satisfaction of the people.



India Prioritizes Early Childhood Care and Education with Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi Launch

The Ministry of Women and Child Development in New Delhi will organize a national event on key initiatives for strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education, ECCE, which is an important component of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Mission Poshan 2.0.

The main objective of the event is to highlight the criticality of focusing on early childhood care and education. On the occasion, the Ministry will also launch Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, a pathbreaking ECCE program to ensure that India has the world’s largest, universal, high-quality pre-school network, as suggested by the National Education Policy. Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani will grace the occasion.



President Droupadi Murmu confers 37 Gallantry awards

President Droupadi Murmu conferred eight Kirti Chakras, including five posthumous, and 29 Shaurya Chakras, including five posthumous, upon the personnel of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and State or Union Territory Police during Defence Investiture Ceremony (Phase-1) in New Delhi on Tuesday.
 
 The Gallantry awards were given to the personnel for displaying conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme devotion to duty. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur were also present during the event.



Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Sittwe Port in Myanmar

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal and Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport & Communications of Myanmar, Admiral Tin Aung San, jointly inaugurated the Sittwe Port in Rakhine State, Myanmar on Tuesday. During this event they received the first Indian Cargo ship which was flagged off from Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Sarbanand Sonowal highlighted the close historical, cultural and economic ties between India and Myanmar. He reiterated India’s long standing commitment towards the development and prosperity of people of Myanmar through developmental initiatives such as the Sittwe Port, said an official press release.



Five more cheetahs to be released in MP’s Kuno National Park: Environment Ministry

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has said that five more cheetahs including three females and two males will be released from the acclimatization camps into free-roaming conditions in Kuno National Park (KNP) in Madhya Pradesh before the onset of the monsoon rains in June this year. The Ministry said that the decision was taken after a team of experts reviewed the current status of the "Project Cheetah" on the directions of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). 



3rd G-20 Development Working Group meeting under Indian Presidency begins in Goa

Delegates from different countries across the globe have arrived in Goa for the 3rd Development Working Group meeting of G-20. The meeting is scheduled from today to 11th May.

India currently holds the Presidency of the G20. G-20 is an inter-governmental forum of the world’s 20 major developed and developing economies.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the birth anniversary celebrations of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in West Bengal today. According to Home Ministry, Mr Shah will pay tribute to Tagore by garlanding his statue at the Jorasanko Thakurbari in Kolkata.

Thereafter, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various developmental projects of the Land Port Authority of India and the Border Security Force (BSF) at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Petrapole in North 24 Parganas district.



Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates 1st-of-its-kind Indian Air Force Heritage Centre at Chandigarh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first-of-its-kind Indian Air Force (IAF) Heritage Centre today at Chandigarh. It was set up under a memorandum of understanding(MoU) between the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the IAF which was signed last year. Spread over 17,000 square feet, this is the first heritage centre of the IAF and depicts its role in 1965, 1971 and the Kargil wars and the Balakot air strike through murals and scale models.



New Delhi: Mos Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar launches third phase of Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana

Minister of State for Health Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar launched the third phase of the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana of the Health Ministry in New Delhi today. The project is being supported by Coal India Limited as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to commemorate World Thalassemia Day. She also launched the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana Portal. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Tribal Affairs Secretary Anil Kumar Jha, and Secretary, of the Department of Health Research, Dr Rajiv Bahl were also present on the occasion.

 Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder that causes the body to have less hemoglobin than normal. Health Ministry has been implementing the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana since 2017 under the National Health Mission and recently completed its second phase in March this year.



PM lauds India’s first IAF Heritage Centre; also congratulates India’s women athletes on winning 17 medals at Wushu Stars C’ship

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded India’s first Indian Air Force Heritage Centre in Chandigarh. Retweeting a tweet by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Prime Minister said this is a commendable effort, which will further highlight the rich contribution of our Air Force to India. In another tweet, Mr Modi congratulated India’s women athletes on winning 17 medals for the country at Wushu Stars Championship held in Moscow, Russia. He also lauded Tripura Government's decision to go paperless. Replying to a tweet by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Prime Minister tweeted that it is good to see Tripura making determined efforts to embrace technology and bring a positive difference in the lives of citizens.
