Manjeet wins bronze in UWW ranking series wrestling event in Kyrgyzstan

Manjeet won a bronze in the men’s Greco Roman 55kg category to open India’s medal account in the UWW Ranking Series wrestling event here on Thursday.

Manjeet lost to Ikhtiyor Botirov of Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals with the latter notching up victory by superiority (VSU1, 13-4). But, since Botirov reached the final, Manjeet got a chance to fight for one of the two bronze medals.



Blackstone Portfolio Company R Systems Appoints Nitesh Bansal As MD And CEO

R Systems, a Blackstone portfolio company on Tuesday announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Nitesh Bansal as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, effective 30 May 2023.

Nitesh joins R Systems after a 25-year career, with 23 years at Infosys where he held several leadership roles, most recently serving as a Senior Vice President and Global Head of Engineering Services. He has worked across India, Europe and America. He is a chartered accountant and has pursued executive and leadership courses at INSEAD and Stanford Graduate School of Business.



Telangana formation day | The growth of South Central Railway

Railways has been chosen as one of the engines of growth by the Modi government and this is reflected in heavy duty investments towards its development and growth across zones, South Central Railway (SCR) being no exception.

SCR, which mainly encompasses Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, has been getting substantial funds since 2014. The average budgetary allocation for infrastructure projects and safety works, falling fully or partly in Telangana during 2014-19, was ₹1,110 crore a year.


Cabinet approves to establish Regional Office of Universal Postal Union in New Delhi

The Cabinet today approved to establish Regional Office of the Universal Postal Union, UPU, in New Delhi.  The aim is to undertake UPU’s development cooperation and technical assistance activities in the region by entering into an agreement with UPU.
 
The approval enables India to play an active role in multilateral organizations in postal sector with an emphasis on South-South and Triangular cooperation.  India will provide a Field Project Expert, staff, and office, set up for UPU’s regional office. 



Morgan Stanley credits Modi govt for India’s transformation in Less than a Decade

After the World Bank and United Nations, US-based global investment bank Morgan Stanley has reaffirmed faith in the India story. In a report detailing India's transformation over the last 10 years, Morgan Stanley credited the government's policy choices for making India gain a significant position in the world order with positive consequences for the macro and market outlook.

 The report titled 'India Equity Strategy and Economics: How India Has Transformed in Less than a Decade' reviewed India's policy changes since 2014 in areas like Supply-side reforms, formalization of the economy, Real Estate, digitalizing social benefit transfers, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, flexible inflation targeting, focus on FDI and government support for corporate profits. It commended the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing corporate tax at par with peers and expediting infrastructure investment.



Government launches Electronics Repair Services Outsourcing to make India Repair Capital of the World

In line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a global electronics powerhouse, Government today launched Electronics Repair Services Outsourcing ERSO Pilot initiative to validate certain transformational policy and process changes to make India the Repair Capital of the World.

 Demonstrating true commitment to the growth of Industry, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Directorate General of Foreign Trade, and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change converged with industry to effect transformational policy and process changes that would make India the most attractive repair destination for ICT products globally. Over the next five years, India’s ERSO industry is likely to fetch India an upto 20 billion dollars in revenue and also generate millions of jobs.



Agriculture Ministry & Farmers Welfare organizes One Day National Workshop on “Per Drop More Crop” in New Delhi

A National Workshop on Per Drop More Crop was organized by Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare was organized in New Delhi today to discuss with the stakeholders the various approaches which can be adopted for increasing penetration of micro irrigation in the country. Participants from various Ministries and Departments of Central Government, States and UT’s, Irrigation Industries, Startups working in water management sector, and Farmers Producer Organisations were present in the event.

 Inaugurating the workshop, Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Manoj Ahuja emphasized on adoption of technologies in the implementation of the programmes and focused approach to enhancing micro-irrigation coverage. He said, it can increase the overall efficiency and water productivity of agriculture for ensuring the food and nutrition security of the country and the incomes of the farmers, particularly in rainfed areas.

Dubai Successfully Trials Medication Delivery via Drones, Paving the Way for Advanced Technologies in Healthcare

Dubai, May 31, 2023 - Dubai has achieved a significant milestone in healthcare innovation with the successful trial of medication delivery via drones. The trial, conducted at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) in partnership with Fakeeh University Hospital, marks Dubai's commitment to becoming a global leader in adopting advanced technologies in vital sectors.

In collaboration with Dubai Silicon Oasis, the Dubai Future Foundation, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and Barq Air, an Emirati smart mobility company, Dubai completed the groundbreaking trial within a 10-kilometre radius. The drones, operated by Fakeeh University Hospital, transported medication from the hospital to a patient's home in Cedre Villas, showcasing the city's potential in utilizing drone technology for medical delivery.



India's Launch of NavIC Navigation Satellite Marks a Milestone in Indigenous Space Technology

India's space sector achieved a significant milestone as the country successfully launched its indigenous navigation satellite, NVS-01, as part of the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) program. The GSLV, on its 15th flight, carried the satellite, which took off from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on Monday. This launch signifies a major achievement for India, positioning it alongside other global navigation systems such as GPS, Glonaz, and Galileo.
