Education ministry launches new curriculum framework
Board examinations will be conducted twice a year and students will be allowed to retain the best score, as per the new curriculum framework launched by the Education Ministry on Wednesday.
"Board exams will be offered at least twice a year to ensure students have time and opportunity to perform well. Students can then appear for a board exam in subjects they have completed and feel ready for. They will also be allowed to retain the best score," said the ministry
First ABDM microsite under NHA '100 microsites project' launched in Mizoram
The National Health Authority (NHA) launched the first Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) Microsite under the 100 Microsites Project in Aizawl, Mizoram, said an official release on Wednesday.
As per an official release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the NHA announced a 100 Microsites project for accelerated adoption of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) across the country.
India becomes first country to touchdown on Moon's south pole region
India achieved a historic milestone on Wednesday evening as the Lander Module (LM) of Chandrayaan-3, the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) third lunar mission, made a touchdown on the lunar surface. The LM comprising the lander (Vikram) and the rover (Pragyan), landed on Moon at around 6:04 pm.
"We have achieved soft landing on moon. India is on the Moon!" exclaimed the ISRO chief S Somnath after the country achieved a lunar touchdown.
Double podium for Geoffrey Emmanuel in Malaysian Superbike Championship 2023
India’s Geoffrey Emmanuel marked his debut in the Malaysian Superbike Championship 2023 with podium finishes in both races astride a Honda CBR 250 machine at the Sepang International Circuit, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, over the weekend.
The 18-year-old from Chennai took part in the 250cc category (A Class) of the championship. Geoffrey (Gusto Racing India) finished third overall, starting from third in both races despite limited seat and track time at the SIC. He narrowly missed the second spot by less than a tenth of a second in a tight finish in the first race.

Election Commission To Name Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar As 'National Icon'
Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar is being designated as a "national icon" of the Election Commission (EC) to encourage greater voter participation in the electoral process.
A memorandum of understanding will be signed between Sachin Tendulkar and the poll panel on Wednesday. As part of the three-year agreement, Sachin Tendulkar will spread voter awareness.
"This collaboration would mark a significant step towards leveraging Sachin Tendulkar's unparalleled impact with the youth for increasing voters' participation in the forthcoming elections, especially in general elections (to Lok Sabha), 2024," the Election Commission said in a statement.
US ‘s FDA approved first respiratory syncytial virus vaccine
The United States of America’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine for use in women during pregnancy to protect the baby. This vaccine has been developed by Pfizer and the approval allows the vaccine to be given to women 32 to 36 weeks into pregnancy for prevention of lower respiratory tract infection and severe disease in infants until they are six months old. The vaccine developer has said that maternal vaccination could prevent a large number of hospitalizations due to RSV. The syncytial virus is said to be a common cause of illness in children, while infants are those at the highest risk for severe disease.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to launch Bharat New Car Assessment Programme
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will launch the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme Bharat NCAP today in New Delhi. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said this programme is a significant step forward in the Government’s commitment to improve road safety through raising the safety standards of motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in India.
The programme aims to provide a tool to car customers to make a comparative assessment of crash safety of motor vehicles available in the market. Under this programme, car manufacturers can voluntarily offer their cars tested as per Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197. Based on the performance of the car in the tests, the car will be awarded star ratings for Adult Occupants AOP and Child Occupant COP. Potential car customers can refer to these star ratings to compare the safety standards of different vehicles and accordingly make their purchase decision.
Government to launch 'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar' GST reward scheme
The government will launch the 'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar' invoice incentive scheme, which offers cash prize from ₹10,000 to ₹1 crore, from September 1, starting with six States and Union Territories.
The scheme, which is aimed at motivating customers to ask for a bill every time they make purchases, will be launched in the States of Assam, Gujarat and Haryana; and the UTs of Puducherry, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said.
