G20 Leaders Summit adopts New Delhi Declaration

In a significant victory for India’s G20 presidency that came amid increasing tensions and divergent views over the Ukraine conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced the adoption of the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration.

The declaration noted with deep concern the immense human suffering and the adverse impact of wars and conflicts around the world. The announcement about the consensus on the declaration and its subsequent adoption came hours after India circulated a new text to the G20 countries to describe the Ukraine conflict.



M.P. approves scheme to give compensation to victims of mob lynching

The Madhya Pradesh government on September 9 approved a scheme to provide compensation to victims of mob lynching.

The Cabinet, which was chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also approved change of name of a housing scheme.

In accordance with Supreme Court directives to the states, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved MP Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme 2023, said Minister for Medical Education Vishwas Sarang after the Cabinet meeting.

Under this scheme, mob lynching has been specified as killing of any person or persons by a group of five or more persons on grounds of religion, caste, sex, place of birth, language, food habits, sexual orientation, political affiliation, ethnicity or other such ground or grounds, an official said.

Coco Gauff becomes first American teen to win US Open title since 1999

American teenage tennis sensation Coco Gauff secured her maiden US Open title, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the title clash in New York on Saturday night.

She defeated Gauff by 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 to emerge victorious over soon-to-be number one Sabalenka. This win was Gauff's 12th successive victory.



Army doctor awarded Dr AM Gokhale award for ophthalmology in Pune

Renowned ophthalmologist Brig Sanjay Kumar Mishra of Indian Army’s Research and Referral Hospital on Sunday was conferred with the prestigious “Dr AM Gokhale Award” in Pune.

The award was conferred to him at the Retina Conclave at Pune. Dr AM Gokhale was a renowned teacher of Ophthalmology and his students progressed to become the doyens of Ophthalmology in the country.



India’s Kiran George clinches Indonesia Masters title

Indian shuttler Kiran George claimed the men’s singles crown at the Indonesia Masters 2023 on Sunday.

Playing at the GOR PBSI Pancing court, George defeated world No 82 Koo Takahashi of Japan 21-19, 22-20 in a hard-fought clash that lasted for 56 minutes to claim his second BWF World Tour Super 100 badminton title.



BRO to construct world's highest fighter airfield in Ladakh's Nyoma

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will construct the world's highest fighter airfield in the Nyoma region of Ladakh, an official statement said on Sunday.

BRO said that the foundation stone of the project will be laid by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from Devak Bridge on September 12.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), BRO said," BRO India will be constructing World's highest fighter airfield at Nyoma in Ladakh. Shilanyas of this project will be done by Hon'ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh on 12 Sep 23 from Devak Bridge in Jammu. Jai Hind! Jai BRO!!"



Javelin sensation Kishore Jena wins Indian Grand Prix 5 with throw of 82.53m

Kishore Jena and Amoj Jacob, who excelled in the Budapest World Championships last month, kept up their good form to earn gold medals at the Indian Grand Prix 5 2023 athletics on Sunday in Chandigarh.

Javelin sensation Jena’s best attempt, a throw of 82.53m, came on his first try. His following throws read 80.74m, 81.56m and 78.39m. The 28-year-old athlete spoiled on the fifth attempt and finished with 78.98m.



Bengaluru unveils first underground transformer to enhance urban aesthetics and efficiency

Bengaluru's first underground electric transformer was inaugurated in Malleswaram on September 5.

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), along with Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), inaugurated a 500 KV underground distribution transformer at 15th Cross Road in Malleswaram.

The transformer, installed 10 feet below the ground, was set up at a cost of Rs 1.9 crore, with BESCOM contributing Rs 1.3 crore, and BBMP contributing Rs 64 lakh. This will also help pedestrians walk on pavements without obstacles.



Jharkhand Includes Transgender Persons In Rajya Samajik Suraksha Pension Yojana

With an aim to provide social security and bring them into the mainstream of society, the Jharkhand government has decided to add the transgender community under its universal pension scheme, an official said on Wednesday (September 5). The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The government also decided to include them under backward class category and provide them the benefits.
