Andhra Pradesh Wednesday set the road for imparting quality education of global standards to government school students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship.

The state government has signed an agreement with IB Organisation in this regard in a videoconference meeting held at Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s office.

After inking the pact, the CM discussed its significance in the future of Andhra Pradesh’s education during the Cabinet meeting. The Cabinet gave approval for introducing the international curriculum in all government schools from the next academic year.

The Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday introduced a bill in the assembly which seeks to empower it to “aid and advise” the governor in the appointment of vice chancellors in two agriculture and horticulture universities in the state.

The proposed legislation — The Himachal Pradesh Universities of Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry (Amendment) Bill, 2023 — will be applicable to Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Krishi Vishvavidyalay, Palampur and Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan.

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has raised India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth projection for financial year 2024 to 6.3 per cent, up from the previous estimate of 6 percent.

India, which is listed among the G20 emerging-market economies, has experienced mostly positive growth surprises, attributed in part to favourable weather-related agricultural outcomes, OECD said. The global economy, however, is expected to grow at a rate of 3 per cent in 2023, before slowing down to 2.7 per cent in 2024, according to the report.

This is the first Bill passed by the Lok Sabha in the new Parliament building.

As it is a Bill to amend the Constitution, it was put for voting by division. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced that 454 members voted in the favour of the bill, while 2 members voted against. Rules require that such a bill need to be passed by special majority, which is 2/3rd of members present and voted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday will lay the foundation stone for an upcoming international cricket stadium in Varanasi. The spiritual city is set to become a cricketing powerhouse with a state-of-the-art stadium, equipped with cutting-edge facilities.

According to a report carried by Dainik Jagran, an approximate sum of ₹350 crore will be spent on the construction of the stadium which will be built on a wide campus of about 31 acres and will have seven pitches. The venue is expected to accommodate 30,000 spectators at a time.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has unveiled a colossal 108-foot statue of the 8th-century Hindu philosopher and saint, Adi Shankaracharya, on Thursday, September 21, in the sacred town of Omkareshwar. This impressive sculpture, named "Ekatmata Ki Pratima" or "Statue of Oneness," serves as a monumental homage to the enduring legacy and profound teachings of Adi Shankaracharya. Originally slated for its unveiling on September 18, the ceremony had to be postponed due to heavy rainfall in the region, as confirmed by an official source cited by the news agency PTI.

The Uttar Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to launch Officer Desk System soon to accelerate secretariat works and to ensure prompt and transparent disposal of files, said an official statement.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has tied up with insurance company SBI Life as its official partner for the 2023-2026 domestic and international season. The three-year deal will come into effect from the upcoming India-Australia ODI series, which begins on September 22.
