India wins gold in men’s 50m rifle 3P team event with new WR at Asian Games 2023
Shooters Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kusale and Akhil Sheoran clinched gold in men’s rifle 3P team event at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Friday.
En route to their gold medal, the Indian shooters also broke the World Record after achieving a cumulative 1769 points, eight more than the previous record set by the United States in 2022 at the CAT championships.
Green Ammonia imported at VOC Port for the first time
Green Ammonia was imported through the V.O. Chidambaranar Port for the first time on Tuesday.
The Port successfully handled 3 x 20 ISO Green Ammonia containers, weighing 37.4 tons of Green Ammonia, from Damietta Port, Egypt, for Tuticorin Alkali Chemical and Fertilizers Limited (TFL).
Conventionally, Grey Ammonia is used for soda ash production. As part of its ‘Go Green’ initiative, TFL has imported Green Ammonia to produce green soda ash on a trial basis. Further, TFL has planned to import 2,000 tonnnes of Green Ammonia this year subject to its availability.
Odisha assembly passes land acquisition bill
The Odisha assembly on Wednesday passed four bills, including the land acquisition and resettlement one that will enable the government to exempt strategic and development projects from social impact assessments.
The bills were passed when members of the opposition BJP and Congress walked out from the House over some other issues. The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Odisha Amendment) Bill, 2023, was first introduced in the assembly in March but withdrawn a month later following severe criticism. The land acquisition bill enables the government to exempt 'strategic and development projects' from social impact assessments and special provisions for safeguarding food security.
India 6G vision gets global play with acceptance by ITU Study Group
India's vision to have ubiquitous coverage under 6G technology has been accepted by UN body ITU's Study Group in its meeting held at Geneva-- a move that is expected to reduce the cost of deployment of the next generation technology. ITU is responsible for developing international mobile telecommunication standards.
"In the current meeting, despite resistance and attempts to reverse our progress by few member states, the Department of Telecommunications was able to successfully include 'Ubiquitous Connectivity' and ratify the framework document," an official statement said on Wednesday.
Intel appoints Gokul Subramaniam as India President
Intel has appointed Gokul Subramaniam as its India President, the company said in a statement on September 27. The appointment comes after Nivruti Rai, the company’s former India head, left the company after 29 years to assume the role of Managing Director and CEO at Invest India.
Rai joined investment promotion body Invest India in July after the post fell vacant as Deepak Bagla had stepped down.
As part of his new role, Intel said Subramaniam will be responsible for Intel's overall engineering and design operations in India, including driving innovation, cross-group efficiencies, and executing Intel products from the country.

Yes Bank on Wednesday announced that it has appointed Manish Jain as Country Head – Wholesale Banking of the bank effective today, after the resignation by Ravi Thota from the position of Country Head – Large Corporates. Ravi Thota, it said, has tendered his resignation on account of personal and other professional commitments. “The Bank has relieved Mr. Thota from his duties effective from close of business hours on September 26, 2023,” the bank said in a regulatory filing.

India's Roshibina Devi Naorem clinches Silver medal in Women's 60 kg category in Wushu
Asian Games 2023 have entered its Day 5 at Hangzhou, China. India has a overall of 23 medals in its kitty with 5 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze. We currently stand at the seventh position on the ranking board. In a major disappointment, Naorem Roshibina Devi lost in the 60 kg category final in women's Wushu event today. She fought hard till the last moment against China’s Wu Xiaowei. Devi brings home a silver medal which is a first for the country in Wushu. She has definitely improved her form from the last Asian Games, where he bagged the bronze medal. There is more to come from the fiery Manipuri in the future.
