Vir Das wins maiden International Emmy Award for best comedy

Actor-comic Vir Das won the International Emmy Award for his stand-up special Vir Das: Landing in the best comedy category, the organisers said. The 51st International Emmy Awards Gala was held at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City on late Monday night.

This was the second nomination and maiden win in the segment for Das, who shared the trophy with popular British teen sitcom Derry Girls season three. Bagging the International Emmy award for the best comedy is "an incredible honour that feels like a dream," said Das.

"Winning an Emmy for Vir Das: Landing in the Comedy Category is not just a milestone for me but for Indian comedy as a whole. It's heartening to see Vir Das: Landing resonate globally, thanks to Netflix, Aakash Sharma and Reg Tigerman who made it special," Das said in a statement. Das is also the first Indian comedian to achieve the feat.



SEBI unveils Investor Risk Reduction Access platform

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) marked a significant milestone with the official launch of the Investor Risk Reduction Access (IRRA) platform at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

According to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) media release, this innovative platform, conceptualized and implemented by Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs), is poised to revolutionize the investor experience by addressing potential risks arising from technical glitches at Trading Member ends.

Risk mitigation in financial markets is an ongoing endeavour, and the IRRA platform emerges as a proactive measure by SEBI to safeguard investors in the event of technical disruptions.



NeGD organizes Digital Government Senior Leaders program under Digital India

A Digital Government Senior Leaders program is being conducted in collaboration with IIM-Bangalore from November 20-25, 2023, with the participation of 21 officials from Central government and eight State/UT departments. The six days intensive workshop is intended to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead and navigate the complexities of digital transformation in the government sector.

This program is organized by National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, under its Capacity Building scheme, and is designed to provide exposure to the concept of digital government - its benefits, and potential impact on public service delivery, citizen engagement, and organizational effectiveness; contemporary issues in managing large e-Governance projects, successful implementations of projects and the challenges faced.

This is the third such program in the series launched in August 2022 which has received encouraging feedback.



F1 exceeds Las Vegas expectations as Verstappen wins one of the most competitive races of the season

Max Verstappen hated everything about the Las Vegas Grand Prix from the moment he arrived in Sin City. Formula One’s three-time reigning world champion found the excess and opulence over-the-top and prioritized over the actual racing.

Global Fisheries Conference India 2023 starts at Science City in Ahmedabad

President Murmu to award President’s Colour to AFMC Pune

President Droupadi Murmu will confer the President’s Colour to Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in a ceremony on December 1, in its platinum jubilee year.

The AFMC is a premier Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) establishment and one of the leading medical colleges in the country.

An official readout Sunday said the AFMC was the fountainhead of medical education in the AFMS and known the world over for its ethos and highest standards of medical training.



Australia lifts ICC Men’s Cricket world cup beating India in Ahmedabad; Virat Kohli awarded "player of the tournament" title

Australia lifted the ICC Men’s Cricket world cup defeating India by six wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad last night. Chasing a modest target of 241 runs, Australia completed the task in 43 overs for the loss of four wickets with a gritty century knock of Travis Head, after some initial setbacks. He made 137 and was declared Player of the Match.

Earlier, India managed to post 240 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. The highlight of the Indian innings was half centuries by Virat Kohli and K L Rahul. Rahul made 66 while Virat scored 54 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma also made quick 47.

Virat Kohli was awarded with the "player of the tournament" title for his exemplary performance. He scored a total of 765 runs in 11 innings, the highest-ever runs scored by a batter in a single edition of the World Cup. Mohammed Shami finished off as the leading wicket taker of the World Cup 2023. In seven matches, he scalped 24 wickets.



Competitive phase of ISSF World Cup Final 2023 begins in Doha, Qatar

The competitive phase of ISSF World Cup Final 2023 begins tomorrow in Doha, Qatar with 10m Air Pistol Men and women events. The competition will witness 13 Indian shooters competing for top honors across various shooting disciplines. This season finale will showcase the top 15 shooters from this year’s World Cup circuit across 12 shooting events. The event, kicked off on November 18th, will conclude on 26th this month.

India currently holds third position in the World Cup medal standings with three gold, one silver and five bronze medals. China is leading the table with seven gold medals while Serbia is on second spot with the same number of golds as India and an additional silver medal.
