Jharkhand guv inaugurates centralised kitchen for midday meal

Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Friday inaugurated the centralised Akshaypatra kitchen in Hazaribag town.

The governor said the kitchen will not only help boost attendance in schools, but also improve the health condition of students.

This kitchen will serve midday meal to one lakh students of around 800 schools in the district, officials said.



Union Minister V Muraleedharan to represent India at G-77 Third South Summit in Uganda

Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan will be on a three-day visit to Kampala in Uganda from Saturday to participate in the Third South Summit of the Group of 77 and China (G-77). External Affairs Ministry said, the theme of the Summit "Leaving No One Behind”, is in line with India’s vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - the World is one Family. Leaders of this cross-regional group will meet with the aim of strengthening cooperation among its 134 Member States. During the Summit, MoS will deliver India’s National Statement and hold bilateral engagements with his counterparts, especially from the G-77 Member States. MoS will also interact with the Indian community in Uganda.



India becomes first Vice Chair of FAO COFI Fisheries Sub-Committee

India got elected as the First Vice Chair of the FAO COFI (Food and Agriculture Organisation Committee on Fisheries) Sub-Committee on Fisheries Management, said the Indian embassy in Italy.

Being one of the top fishing nations with over 28 million inland and marine fishers, India's role in this crucial subcommittee as the representative of the Global South would give much-needed balance and perspective to the global narratives concerning fisheries governance and management (especially for artisanal and small-scale fisheries), the embassy statement added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Women-led Development” resonated strongly at the WEF 2024, with the global community expressing committed support. The WEF praised India’s inclusive and remarkable growth story under Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, commending the government’s philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

The newly launched Alliance aims to bring together global best practices, foster knowledge sharing, and attract investments in key areas such as women’s health, education, and enterprise. The initiative builds on the commitments of the G20 Leaders’ Declaration and India’s dedication to women-led development.

Irani, speaking at the announcement, stated, “On a street where money walks and politics talks, we were able to bring together the best of industry, enterprise, and humanity in this grand Alliance.” She highlighted India’s achievements, including its spectacular inclusive growth story.



President Murmu to present Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar on January 22

President Droupadi Murmu will on January 22 present the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 19 children for their exceptional achievements, an official statement said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the award winners on Tuesday, it said.

The children, comprising nine boys and 10 girls, hail from 18 States and Union Territories, including two aspirational districts.

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, 2024 will be given in six categories — art and culture (7), bravery (1), innovation (1), science and technology (1), social service (4), and sports (5), according to the statement.



The 1st office space at World Trade Centre Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi inaugurated

New Delhi’s only World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar recently saw the inauguration of its first office space. The state of the art office of CRCS was inaugurated by Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah. CRCS will be occupying approximately 41,000 sqft of super built up area valuing approximately Rs 165 crore at World Trade centre (WTC), Nauroji Nagar. The world trade centre will also have provision for ample car parking space.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) appointed NBCC (India) Limited as implementing agency for re-development of Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi. NBCC is authorized to market the commercial space on freehold basis. NBCC is building Delhi’s only World Trade Centre situated in Nauroji Nagar, which is one of the largest commercial hubs with modern facilities and amenities and this project.



Maharashtra signs investment MoUs worth Rs 3.53 trillion at Davos

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday said he is resolute in leading the state to its ambitious target of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy as the state government secured investment MoUs worth Rs 3.53 lakh crore (USD 44 billion) this week at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.

The state also received an expression of interest for an additional Rs 1 lakh crore investment, taking the total to Rs 4.5 lakh crore (nearly USD 57 billion) with a potential to create about two lakh jobs across sectors, including electronics, IT, data centres, gems and jewellery, agriculture, automobile and renewable energy, an official statement said.



Telangana wraps up Davos meet with Rs 40,000 crore invesment deals in kitty

Team Telangana, led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, wrapped up the World Economic Forum (WEF) conclave at Davos with investments of over 40,000 crore in the kitty after meetings with the top brass of over 200 major corporate houses over a three-day period.

The state government said it inked deals worth 40,232 crore, which is nearly double of what the state managed to garner last year at Davos.

Telangana inked deals with Adani Group, JSW Group, Iron Mountain & Web Werks, Tata Technologies, BL Agro, Surgical Instruments Group Holdings, Godi Energy, Aragen Life Sciences, Innovera Pharmaceuticals, QCentrio, Systra, Uber and o9 Solutions that can create over 2,500 jobs.



Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee inaugurates 47th Kolkata International Book Fair

World's largest lamp to be lit in Ayodhya ahead of opening of the Ram Temple

As devotees' countdown to the opening of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, the world's largest 300-foot lamp will be lit in the city at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya said, "This lamp will be lit using 1.25 quintals of cotton and 21000 litres of oil. Soil and water from different places across the country and cow's ghee have been used to prepare this lamp. This is the world's largest lamp."
