In Shooting, Adriyan Karmakar opened India’s medal account with a silver in the 50m rifle prone event at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany, yesterday. The 20-year-old shot a score of 626.7, just 0.3 points behind Sweden’s Jesper Johansson, who won gold. Adriyan, who has earlier represented India juniors at the world championships but never in a World Cup, shot confidently and was one of the earliest participants to finish. Adriyan’s performance also set a new junior national record in the event.
Telangana CM launches ‘Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam’ to provide free solar pumps for tribal farmers
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has launched the Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme from Macharam village in Nagarkurnool district. Under the scheme, tribal farmers will receive free solar pumps of 5 -7.5 horsepower for irrigating horticultural crops. The 12-point ‘Nallamala Declaration’ was passed during the launch of the new ‘ Revanth Reddy Launches ‘Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam’ to Provide Free Solar Pumps for Tribal Farmers’ scheme, which talks about the developmental initiatives for tribals living in the forest areas. The pilot project was launched on 45 acres in Macharam, benefiting 45 tribals whose lands were not only taken away, but cases were also filed against the tribals for waging a struggle to protect their lands under the previous rule.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said the solar pumps will be provided to every farmer across the Achampet assembly constituency in 100 days. He also directed the officials to prepare plans to set up solar power plants through the women’s self-help groups (SHG), so that they could gain revenues from that.
PM Modi to inaugurate 103 Amrit Bharat Stations across nation and flag-off Bikaner-Mumbai express train
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bikaner in Rajasthan today from where he will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over 26 thousand crore rupees.
The Projects include Railways, Roadways, Power, Water and New and Renewable Energy sectors. During his visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate 103 redeveloped Amrit Stations in 86 districts across 18 States and Union Territories.
After reaching Deshnoke, Mr. Modi will first visit Karni Mata temple for darshan. After that, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the redeveloped Deshnoke Amrit Station under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and also flag-off Bikaner-Mumbai express train. The Prime Minister will also address a public function in Palana of Bikaner.
Mizoram becomes India’s 1st fully literate state
Mizoram has been declared India’s first fully literate state, marking a historic milestone in the state’s educational journey. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the people of Mizoram for this achievement.

Navy recreates 5th century stitched ship, inducts it as INSV Kaundinya
The Indian Navy on Wednesday inducted a traditionally built stitched ship as INSV Kaundinya, named after a legendary first-century Indian mariner, at a ceremony held at the strategically located Karwar naval base in Karnataka.
The officials quoted in a PTI report termed the vessel a tangible symbol of India's long-standing traditions of maritime exploration, trade and cultural exchange. They added that its induction into the navy and naming mark a culmination of an "extraordinary project" that celebrates India's rich shipbuilding heritage.

Ministry of New & Renewable Energy participates in World Hydrogen Summit 2025
Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi today addressed the World Hydrogen Summit 2025 in Rotterdam, highlighting India's strategic vision and capabilities in the domain of renewable energy and green hydrogen production.
The Secretary underscored India’s transformative potential of Green Hydrogen to become a global leader in this space. This ambition largely relies on India’s strength in the renewable energy domain.
The Secretary highlighted that India has already installed over 223 GW of renewable energy—that includes 108 GW from solar and 51 GW from wind—placing India among the fastest-growing renewable energy markets globally. He reiterated India’s vision to achieve energy independence by 2047 and reach Net Zero emissions by 2070.
KVIC celebrates ‘World Bee Day 2025’ under the banner ‘Sweet Revolution Utsav’
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, celebrated World Bee Day 2025 at its Central Office in Vile Parle, Mumbai, under the banner ‘Sweet Revolution Utsav’. This year’s celebration was themed “Bee inspired by nature to nourish us all”, aligning with the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming the White Revolution into a Sweet Revolution.
The grand event was inaugurated by KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar, in the presence of KVIC CEO Ms. Roop Rashi. The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from beneficiary beekeepers across various districts of Maharashtra, trainees, scientists, successful apiculturists, students, and subject experts. KVIC's work in this direction is a significant step toward building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
ALL-INDIA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS FOR AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL LABOURERS – APRIL, 2025
The All-India Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL) and Rural Labourers (CPI-RL) (Base: 1986-87=100) increased by 1 point each for the month of April 2025, to stand at 1307 and 1320 points, respectively.
The year-on-year inflation rates based on CPI-AL and CPI-RL for April 2025 were recorded at 3.48% and 3.53%, respectively, compared to 7.03% and 6.96% in April 2024. The corresponding figures for March 2025 stood at 3.73% for CPI-AL and 3.86% for CPI-RL.
