Isro's Bahubali LVM3 that launched Chandrayaan-3 to be handed to private sector

India’s heaviest rocket, the Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM3), which powered the historic Chandrayaan-3 Moon landing mission, is set to enter a new phase as the government initiates the process of transferring the rocket’s technology and operations to the private sector.

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), the government’s nodal agency for promoting private participation in the space sector, has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting Indian companies to take over the end-to-end realisation, operation and commercialisation of the LVM3 launch vehicle.



Scan QR code, give feedback on hygiene & safety rating of street food to Ahmedabad civic body

Ahmedabad residents can now directly give feedback and “hygiene rating” on basis of the cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards maintained at street vendors’ place of business to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

Regular monitoring is being done on the basis of such feedback, AMC officials said on Wednesday. If found that any vendor is not following the rules related to cleanliness and food safety, action is taken as per the provisions of the law, they said.

This is facilitated under a QR code-based vendor registration and monitoring system implemented by the AMC to ensure that cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards are maintained more effectively among the street food vendors of the city and that safe and quality food is available to citizens.

"Proud and historic," wrote Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in a post on X, announcing that the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai has announced plans to install a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Jewish country. The announcement was made on the occasion of Shivrajyabhishek Din, which is the anniversary of the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It was over 350 years ago, on June 6, 1674, that Shivaji was coronated.

He directed the departments to ensure that all ongoing and proposed projects are completed by December 31, 2027.



Home Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates ‘Vinimay’ System to Streamline Border Cargo and Passenger Movement

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Land Port Management System (LPMS), ‘Vinimay’, in New Delhi to digitize and streamline cargo processing and passenger movement across India’s land borders on Tuesday. The system is a digital platform designed to integrate operations across land ports into a unified system. It will enable secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information, bringing land ports on a par with digital systems already in place at airports and seaports. Addressing the gathering, Mr Shah said, the initiative marks a significant step towards building a modern and technology-driven border management system. He said, the platform is aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and will strengthen trade facilitation, connectivity and national security. The Home Minister said, land ports have not only enhanced border security and increased trade but have also helped curb illegal encroachment and unauthorized activities.


Mr. Shah emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening border security through the adoption of digital technologies and efficient management systems. He said, the launch of the Vinimay platform marks an important milestone in the country’s efforts to further strengthen border security and improve the overall functioning of land ports.



Veteran Tamil director Bharathiraja dies due to prolonged illness at 84 in Chennai

Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja died on Wednesday morning in Chennai due to ill health and other age-related ailments. He was 84. The exact cause of his death is not yet known. More details regarding his funeral are awaited.

The members of Tamil Film Producers Council confirmed the news and expressed regret. Their message in Tamil is loosely translated as saying, "We regret to inform you that the legendary director Mr. Bharathiraja, a former president and one of the senior members of our association, died early this morning."

Actor, producer and politician Khushbu Sundar was devastated to hear the news of Bharathiraja's death. In an X post, she called his death a "gloomy cloud" in Tamil cinema.



NASA announces Artemis III crew; taps U.S. astronauts, Italian for mission with SpaceX, Blue Origin mooncraft

NASA named three U.S. astronauts and an Italian astronaut on Tuesday (June 9, 2026) to serve as the crew for its next Artemis mission, a spacecraft docking demonstration in ‌Earth’s orbit next year that will test moon landers from Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin for the first time in space.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, at a ceremony in Houston, named U.S. astronauts Andre Douglas, Frank Rubio and ⁠Randy Bresnik and Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency as the crew for Artemis III. It is due to launch late next year, with no specific date yet announced.

“Artemis III is an incredibly exciting, complicated and highly coordinated multi-launch campaign,” Jeremy Parsons, NASA’s Artemis program manager, said at the Houston event. “It’s going to happen ‌in a short period of time with three of the world’s most powerful rockets.”



Prime Minister Narendra Modi sets record as India’s longest serving elected Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of India today.

Mr Modi took the oath of office on 26th May 2014. He has surpassed the record of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who first took the oath as an elected Prime Minister on 13th May 1952 and served until 27th May 1964. Pandit Nehru’s tenure as an elected Prime Minister amounted to four thousand 398 days. From 26th May 2014 to today, 10th June 2026, Prime Minister Modi’s continuous tenure is now four thousand 399 days, making him the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.

The achievement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is particularly noteworthy given the scale and complexity of governance in India, a nation of over 1.4 billion people characterised by extraordinary diversity in language, culture, religion and geography.



Reliance Industries to build Meta's first AI-enabled data centre in India

Facebook parent Meta said on Wednesday it has tied up with Reliance Industries to build the US company’s first AI-powered data centre in India, a 168-megawatt facility located in Jamnagar.

Meta, which also owns Instagram and WhatsApp, will take this centre on lease, with an option to expand. It will cover the full cost of the energy and water for the facility.

“This investment is a significant milestone in Meta’s global infrastructure expansion and deepens our long-standing strategic partnership with Reliance — one that spans connectivity, commerce, and AI innovation in one of the world’s most dynamic digital markets,” said the company.



Uttar Pradesh Launches ‘Project Ganga’ to Boost Rural Digital Connectivity

Uttar Pradesh government today launched ‘Project Ganga’ which will ensure last-mile digital connectivity in rural areas while expanding opportunities in digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, skill development, and technology-based employment.

Under Project Ganga, a comprehensive network of Digital Service Providers (DSPs) will be developed across the state. Through this initiative, the government aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity to approximately 20 lakh families, prepare 8 to 10 thousand Digital Service Providers, and generate more than one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities. The project is being launched in 21 districts during its first phase in which Hinduja Group’s broadband arm OneOTT Intertainment Limited will contribute as ‘Knowledge Partner’ and ‘Implementation Enabler.

Launching the project in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Project Ganga is an important initiative towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India.
