Gujarat govt disburses over ?1,000 crore to 10 lakh girl students

The Gujarat government has disbursed over Rs 1,000 crore to more than 10.49 lakh girl students under the Namo Lakshmi Yojana. Under the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana, more than 1.50 lakh students have received financial assistance amounting to over Rs 161 crore, according to an official statement from the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel completed four years in office on September 13. During this period, he has consistently advanced Gujarat’s development journey initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

To realise the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and ensure that students in Gujarat have access to high-quality, future-ready education in the Amrit Kaal, the Chief Minister launched two new schemes in March 2024 — Namo Lakshmi Yojana and Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana.

According to the press release, recognising that no girl should have to discontinue her education due to financial hardship, Chief Minister Patel introduced the Namo Lakshmi Yojana to help daughters complete their secondary and higher secondary studies.



PM Modi In Assam Released Rs 100 Coin Honouring Music Icon Bhupen Hazarika

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled a Rs 100 commemorative coin issued by the Reserve Bank of India to mark the centenary of Bharat Ratna and legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika. The release took place at a grand event in Guwahati celebrating the music icon's 100th birth anniversary.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said he felt "fortunate" to be part of the celebrations of the man he described as the Sudhakantha (nightingale), who "gave voice to the dreams of India and connected music with emotions." He noted that Hazarika's compositions reflected the essence of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat'.

"Bhupen Hazarika was a hero of India's unity. Decades ago, when the North East was suffering neglect and violence, Bhupen Da continued to sing of India's oneness and dreamt of a prosperous North East," Modi said. He added that the government was now working "day and night" to realise Hazarika's vision for the region.



Nepal sets March elections after naming interim prime minister

Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel has dissolved parliament and called for fresh elections on March 5 following a week of deadly violence that culminated in the appointment of the country’s first woman prime minister.

The statement from Paudel’s office late on Friday came just hours after he announced former Chief Justice Sushila Karki would lead the country on an interim basis following the deadly “Gen Z”-led anti-graft protests that forced former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli to resign.

According to the statement, the president has “dissolved the House of Representatives” and fixed March 5 next year for the elections.



Hindi Diwas 2025

September 14 is observed as Hindi Diwas, or Hindi Day, to commemorate the Constituent Assembly of India making Hindi the official language of the Union government.

The Constituent Assembly chose Hindi as the official — not the national — language of the country after extensive discussions over three days. Discussions were also held over what script should the Union adopt, what script should the numerals be in, and what should be the status of English. Hindustani (Hindi with more Urdu elements) and Sanskrit were among those proposed as official languages.

At length, the Munshi-Ayyangar formula — named after Drafting Committee members K M Munshi and N Gopalaswamy Ayyangar — was adopted as a compromise solution.



PM Modi gifts projects worth Rs 6,500 crore to Assam, announces 'Demography Mission'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth about Rs 6,500 crore in Darang district of Assam. On this occasion, he said that India is the fastest growing economy in the world today and Assam has become one of the fastest growing states in the country. He described Assam and the Northeast region as an important part of India's development journey.

Connectivity and health services got a new direction in the Northeast

Prime Minister Modi said that the dream of a “developed India” is the resolve of the youth and the Northeast has a big role to play in fulfilling this dream. He said, “25 years of the 21st century have passed, now the time ahead belongs to the East and the Northeast.” He emphasized that strong connectivity is necessary for the rapid development of any region, so the central government is rapidly expanding road, rail, airway and digital networks in the Northeast.



AIIMS Delhi installs da Vinci robot for training of students in robotic-assisted surgery

AIIMS Delhi has installed a state-of-the-art da Vinci Surgical Robot at its skills, e-learning and telemedicine (SET) facility for training, officials said. Provided by Intuitive Surgicals under a memorandum of understanding, the robot opens up a new opportunity for training in robotic-assisted surgery at the premier institute.

“With the installation of this robot, AIIMS Delhi is now the only institution in the country to have two surgical robots purely for training,” the hospital said in a statement. A Hugo training robot, provided by Medtronics, already exists in the SET facility.

The facility is used by a large number of trainees and faculty, both from AIIMS and other institutions, the statement said. It allows access to state-of-the-art training facilities using manikins and simulators, and students, nurses, residents, healthcare professionals, and the faculty can learn and practise in stress-free sessions.



LAUNCH OF DSC A22 (YARD 327), THIRD SHIP OF 05 x DIVING SUPPORT CRAFT (DSC) PROJECT

The launch of ‘DSC A 22’ the third ship of 05 x Diving Support Craft (DSC) project, being built by M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), Kolkata for Indian Navy, was undertaken on 12 Sep 2025 at Titagarh, Kolkata (WB). The Launch Ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Suraj Berry, Commander-in-Chief. In keeping with the Naval maritime tradition, Mrs Kangana Berry launched the ship.

The contract for building 05 x Diving Support Craft, (DSC) was signed between MoD and M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), Kolkata on 12 Feb 21. These ships are designed to undertake diving operations in coastal waters and are being fitted with state of the art diving equipment. They are catamaran hull ships, with a displacement of approx 380 tons.

These ships are indigenously designed and built under relevant Naval Rules and Regulations of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). The hydrodynamic analysis/ model testing of the ships during design stage was undertaken at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam. These ships are proud flag bearers of Make in India initiative of Government of India (GoI)/ Ministry of the Defence (MoD).



PM Modi inaugurates India’s first bamboo-based ethanol plant in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (September 14, 2025) underscored the need for India to be self-sufficient in energy after inaugurating the country’s first bamboo-based ethanol plant in eastern Assam’s Golaghat district.

He also laid the foundation stone for a ₹7,230-crore polypropylene plant at the Numaligarh Refinery. The project will be established near the ₹5,000-crore bioethanol plant, a “zero-waste” facility described as the world’s first to produce ethanol from green bamboo.

Terming the bioethanol plant a step toward ensuring energy security, Mr. Modi said the facility aims to promote clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.



Indian Navy gets anti-submarine warfare ship

The Indian Navy has received an indigenously built anti-submarine warfare ship that is expected to boost its maritime prowess against the backdrop of China’s growing forays into the Indian Ocean.

‘Androth’, the second of the eight anti-submarine warfare-shallow watercraft (ASW-SWC), has been built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.

The ship was delivered to the Indian Navy on Saturday (September 13, 2025), marking yet another step towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing, according to an official readout.



Indian Navy commissions first 3D Air Surveillance Radar aboard warship

The Indian Navy has commissioned its first 3D Air Surveillance Radar (3D-ASR) aboard a warship. The Lanza-N has been developed by Tata Advanced Systems in collaboration with Spanish defence company, Indra.

The Lanza-N is a naval variant of Indra's Lanza 3D radar. This is the first time that a Lanza-N radar will be operational outside Spain.

With this collaboration, Tata Advanced Systems has become the first Indian company to demonstrate the capability to build and integrate next-generation naval surveillance radar systems.
