NASA astronaut to set record for longest spaceflight by a woman
NASA astronaut Christina Koch is going to have her mission on the International Space Station (ISS) extended to 328 days. This would set a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman.
The US space agency and its ISS partners have set a new schedule and new crew assignments. Koch arrived at the space station on March 14 and now is scheduled to remain in orbit until February 2020. She will eclipse the record of 288 days set by former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson in 2016-17.
She will be part of three expeditions -- 59, 60 and 61 -- during her current first spaceflight. Her extended mission will provide additional data for NASA's Human Research Program and continue to support future missions to the Moon and Mars. The longest single spaceflight by a NASA astronaut is 340 days, set by former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly during his one-year mission in 2015-16.

Google has opened its first Africa Artificial Intelligence lab in Ghana
A rural farmer in Tanzania hovers over a wilting cassava plant with her phone. In seconds she gets a diagnosis of the disease affecting her plant and how best to manage it to boost her production.
The farmer used an app on her phone based on TensorFlow, Google's Artificial Intelligence (AI) machine that the company opensourced to help developers create solutions to real-world problems.
When people think of Artificial Intelligence, they most likely think of scenes from science fiction movies, but in reality, it applies to everyday life from virtual assistants to language translation on Google, says John Quinn, an AI researcher.
Google now wants to position itself as an "AI first" company and with research centers across the globe in places such as Tokyo, Zurich, New York, and Paris.
And last week, the technology company opened its first center in Africa in Ghana's capital city, Accra.
