Gujarat government gives nod for world’s first CNG port terminal at Bhavnagar
Gujarat Government has given its nod to the world’s first CNG port terminal at Bhavnagar. According to official release, the U.K. based Foresight group and Mumbai based Padmanabh Mafatlal group joint venture will invest Rs.1900 crore to set up a CNG port terminal at Bhavnagar port. Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board- GIDB under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has also approved this proposal.
According to official sources, the proposed CNG port terminal will have annual capacity of 6 million matric tone, which will increased the total handling capacity of the port to 9 million matric tones. Mammorandum of Understanding- MoU for this project between Gujarat government arm Gujarat Maritime Board and London based Foresight Group was signed during the 2019 Vibrant Gujarat summit.
Javelin thrower Sundar Singh wins gold in World Para Athletics Championships
Javelin thrower Sundar Singh Gurjar has won India's second gold defending his World Para Athletics Championships title in the men's F46 javelin throw event in Dubai. With this, India has secured three Tokyo Paralympic Games quota, along with the bronze winner Ajeet Singh and Rinku.
Gurjar came up with his season's best effort of 61.22m to claim the top spot. Singh sent the spear to a distance of 59.46m to clinch the bronze while Rinku finished fourth.
While, Yogesh Kathuniya added a silver for India in men's discus throw F56 event with a best throw of 42.05m yesterday.
India now have two gold, two silver and a bronze in the Championships.

With 583, both Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma had qualified for the finals in seventh and sixth place. However, Verma had to be satisfied with a fifth-place finish in the eight-man final. The trio of Chaudhary, Verma and Sharvan Kumar bagged the team bronze with a total of 1740 in the qualifying, finishing behind China (1745) and Korea (1744). Both Chaudhary and Verma had already secured their Olympic quotas in the earlier competitions.

IOCL gets Environment Ministry’s clearance to set up 2G ethanol plant in Panipat
The estimated investment in setting up the plant is Rs 766 crore
The Ministry of Environment has granted clearance to the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) to set up a Rs 766-crore 2G ethanol plant in Haryana’s Panipat district.
Making the announcement through a tweet on Sunday, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said, “Happy to inform that Environment Clearance is given to IOCL to set up new 2G Ethanol plant in Panipat.”
He also said that the project would help in achieving the goal of doubling farmers’ income.
TN Seshan, Former Chief Election Commissioner Known for Reforming Indian Poll Process, Passes Away
Former chief election commissioner TN Seshan passed away at his residence in Chennai on Sunday evening following a cardiac arrest. He was 86.
Born as Tirunellai Narayana Iyer Seshan on December 15, 1932, in Thirunellai, Palakkad district, Kerala, Seshan was widely known and remembered for his electoral reforms and had played a major role in drastically ending electoral malpractices in the country.
The legendary Seshan was not keeping good health for the past couple of years and he passed away at about 9.30pm, a senior police official said. Known for his no-nonsense attitude, he was largely confined to his home here for the past several years due to old age.
CJI Ranjan Gogoi releases Assamese version of book 'Courts of India: Past to Present'
Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi released the Assamese version of the book 'Courts of India: Past to Present' in Guwahati on Sunday. Releasing the book published by the Publication Division, Mr. Gogoi termed it as the architecture of justice. He said, the book fabulously explains the Indian justice system.
The Chief Justice of India also emphasized that the law students should go through the book. Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Justice of India designate Sharad Arvind Bobde along with other dignitaries also attended the event. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the book will be provided to all government libraries in Assam. In his address, Justice Bobde termed the book as one of the finest compilations. Justice Bobde said, he is looking forward to see the book get translated in other languages too.
Google India appoints former Star and Disney head Sanjay Gupta as new Country Manager
Google India has appointed Sanjay Gupta, former Star and Disney head as its new country manager. Gupta will also serve as Vice President of Sales and Operations for India. Gupta will be taking over his role at Google early next year.
Gupta will be replacing Rajan Anandan, the VP for Google South East Asia and India, who had resigned in April 2019. Anandan was replaced by Vikas Agnihotri, Google's director of sales, who took on the role of Google Interim MD.
Gupta said that he is delighted to take on the challenge of leading and shaping Google's charter in India. "It is an exciting opportunity to leverage the power of technology to solve some of India's unique challenges and make the Internet an engine of economic growth for people and communities," Gupta added.
Indian Bank, Muthoot Microfin sign MoU
Public sector Indian Bank on Friday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Muthoot Microfinance to serve micro, small and medium enterprises.
"Under the memorandum of understanding, the bank and the non-banking finance company will jointly lend to the MSME borrowers," the bank said in a statement.
Indian Bank general manager-MSME Sudhakar Rao exchanged documents with Muthoot Microfin deputy CFO Praveen T in the presence of the bank's managing director and CEO Padmaja Chunduru recently.
