Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel today launched the E-Portal of Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, CCRT ‘Digital Bharat Digital Sanskriti' and CCRT YouTube Channel in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Patel said that this will enable dissemination of cultural education through digital interactive medium into the classrooms all over the country. 

The Minister specifically stressed that each and every child has a latent talent which needs to be identified. He said CCRT should provide a platform for specifically dropout children so that they can join the mainstream and pursue their dreams.

The IT Ministry on Monday unveiled a slew of new initiatives and programmes, including BHIM 2.0 that packs-in new functionalities, supports additional languages and has increased transaction limits.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also launched a StartUp Hub portal and Indian Software Product Registry at IT Ministry’s MeitY Start-up Summit.

BHIM app, a UPI based payment interface developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that allows real time fund transfer, was launched in December, 2016.

“In order to make BHIM app more feature-rich and effective it has been enhanced with a bunch of new functionalities. Some of the striking features marking BHIM 2.0 include a ‘Donation’ gateway, increased transaction limits for high value transactions, linking multiple bank accounts, offers from merchants, option of applying in IPO, gifting money...,” an official release said.

Two-day long manoeuvres by Sudarshan Chakra Vahini of Indian Army started today at Jaisalmer field firing range in Rajasthan. In this war exercise, the army is going to exhibit its strength regarding Agni Missile and artillery.

NEW DELHI: Kuhoo Garg and Dhruv Rawat put up a brilliant effort to win the mixed doubles title at the Egypt International 2019 in Cairo on Sunday.

The unseeded Garg and Rawat held their nerves for a tight 21-16, 22-20 victory over the third seeds Utkarsh Arora and Karishma Wadkar in an all-Indian final.

Garg and Rawat showed excellent understanding as they had accounted for the second seeds Ahmed Salah and Hadia Hosny 21-16 21-15 of Egypt in the second round and then followed it up with a comeback 16-21 21-16 21-9 win over fourth seeds Koceila Mammeri and Linda Mazri of Algeria in the semi-finals.

Garg, however, failed to have double delight as she later went down in the women's doubles final with Sanyogita Ghorpade.

The two gave their all before bowing out narrowly, 16-21 21-19 19-21 to third seeds Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker.

European Union leaders confirmed on Friday the appointment of Christine Lagarde as the new chief of the European Central Bank, replacing Mario Draghi from November 1.

Lagarde's confirmation for a non-renewable term of eight years comes after EU leaders nominated her for the position on July 2.

Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh has stressed the need to create awareness among people about the  myths related to  nuclear  power. He said such myths  are related to health hazards which  come in the way of setting up of nuclear plants in the country.

Addressing the 11th Nuclear Energy Conclave in New Delhi today, Dr. Singh emphasized the need to use of modern information technology and social media tools to educate masses about  nuclear energy. He said, there is no medical evidence to prove that nuclear plants have caused any health hazard and Indian plants are very well protected  as utmost precautions have been taken during their establishment.

Born on January 10, 1946, in Faridpur district, he completed his graduation from the Government College of Fine Arts and Crafts in Kolkata in 1969.

An icon of modern art in Bangladesh, Kalidas was awarded Shilpakala Padak in 2016 and the Ekushey Padak in 2018 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to fine arts.

Solo exhibitions of his works were held in Dhaka and many countries, including the US, India, Japan, Iran, and Hong Kong. Apart from painting he was also known for his installation work in which he used diverse materials like wood, pottery, brass, utensils and others.

Kalidas was prolific in using new mediums and style for his art work while maintaining his signature style. He called his work alluvial art meaning the art of the delta land which gave expression to the precarious nature of the alluvial land and its people, their struggles and hopes.

Karmakar also experimented with performance art which combined artist's body as an object of art along with his paintings.
