1 Railway Ministry says, President Kovind will confer RPF personnel with Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards 2021

Railway Ministry has said that President Ramnath Kovind will confer seven Railway Protection Force, RPF personnel with Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards 2021, for their bravery act.

The Ministry said, RPF has been saving lives in mission mode under Mission Jeewan Raksha. RPF personnel have saved 1650 lives from the wheels of the running trains at railway stations in the last four years under this mission. It said, during the year 2021, RPF personnel saved 601 lives by pulling persons out of harm's way in the nick of time while they were about to come under the wheels of the running train.

2 R K Singh launches Powerthon-2022 for technology-driven solutions to ensure quality and reliable power supply

Power Minister R K Singh today virtually launched Powerthon-2022, a hackathon competition to find technology-driven solutions to solve the complex problems in power distribution and to ensure quality and reliable power supply.

In his keynote address, Mr Singh said, this program is much needed in the power sector. He encouraged technologists to come forward not only with solutions to existing problems but also with other problem statements and ideas for reliable power supply. He said that ideas and concepts will be rewarded with licence and the development of prototypes will also be fostered.

IND U19 vs ENG U19 Final Highlights:India clinched the U-19 Cricket World Cup title for the fifth time after beating England by four wickets in the summit clash, riding on a sensational all-round show from Chandigarh boy Raj Angad Bawa on Saturday. Bawa shone with the ball with a sensational fiver (5/31) to help India shot England out for 189 before hitting a valuable 35 down the order to help India chase down the target of 190 with 2.2 overs to spare. Earlier, England opted to bat after winning the toss but they were shot out by India for 189 in 44.5 overs with pacer Bawa (5/31 in 9.5 overs) and Ravi Kumar (4/34 from 9 overs) sharing the spoils.

These new cases have taken the total COVID-19 infection tally in India to 4,21,88,138 cases. India recorded 865 deaths on Saturday, taking the death toll to 5,01,979 as per the data updated at 8 am.

The Union Health Ministry data showed that the active cases have declined to 12,25,011.

6 About 4K telecom towers to be installed in Odisha soon: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said the Centre would install about 4,000 mobile towers in various places across Odisha very soon.

Addressing a press conference here, Vaishnaw said nearly about 6,000 villages in Odisha remain out of mobile connectivity due to lack of mobile towers.

Maharashtra government has also declared public holiday tomorrow due to demise of the veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar. The West Bengal government has also declared a half-day holiday as a mark of respect to the icon.

Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure. The Queen of Melody was admitted to Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai on 8th of January after she was diagnosed with COVID-19. She was put on ventilator support after her condition worsened on Saturday.

10 Lata Mangeshkar passes away Live Updates: Nephew collects legendary singer’s remains from Shivaji Park, tributes continue to pour in

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was laid to rest with full state honours on Sunday in the presence of her family at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan and Ranbir Kapoor were among those who paid homage to the veteran singer. She died at Breach Candy hospital on Sunday of multi-organ failure at the age of 92.

Daughter of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti Mangeshkar, Lata belonged to a musical family. Her father was a well-known Marathi musician and theatre artiste. She was first tutored by her father and later appeared as a child artiste in several of his plays.
