2 PM Modi expresses optimism as Gujarat signs MoU with Vedanta & Foxconn Group to set up semiconductor and display FAB manufacturing unit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the MoU signed between the Gujarat Government and the Vedanta-Foxconn Group for the manufacture of semiconductor will create a significant impact to boost economy and jobs.

In a tweet, Mr. Modi said, the MoU of 1.54 lakh crore rupees, is an important step towards India’s semi-conductor manufacturing ambitions. He said, this will create a huge ecosystem for ancillary industries and help the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

3 Gaganyaan to be done by end of 2023 or beginning of 2024

Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh has said that the first trial for Gaganyaan, India’s maiden human space mission, will be done by the end of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024.

He said the first test flight will be followed by sending a female-looking humanoid robot - Vyom Mitra to ensure that the final flight of Gaganyaan is flawless. Dr. Jitendra Singh said, on the basis of these two missions, our astronauts will go in the third mission.
With the launch of Gaganyaan, India will become the fourth nation in the world to launch a Human Spaceflight Mission after the US, Russia, and China.

4 Foreign Secretaries of India and Nepal hold Bilateral meeting

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra and his Nepal counterpart Bharat Raj Paudyal held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi yesterday. The Foreign Secretaries reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation between India and Nepal, including economic and commercial cooperation, enhancing connectivity, development cooperation, trade, culture, and people-people relations.
 
They noted the progress on many projects and initiatives announced during the recent visits of Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to India in April this year and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Nepal in May. Both Foreign Secretaries appreciated the recent progress in bilateral cooperation in power sector including through export of power from Nepal to India.

5 Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya to launch Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav

Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will launch Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav, a countrywide mega drive for voluntary blood donation from 17th September to 1st October this year. The special drive is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. 

The registrations for the Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav have begun on the E-Raktkosh portal and Aarogya Setu app. 1st October is observed as the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

6 MeitY Startup Hub to collaborate with Meta to accelerate XR technology startups across India

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub in collaboration with Meta will launch a  programme to support and accelerate XR technology startups across India.

This collaboration is part of the Government’s efforts for skilling in emerging and future technologies. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar will launch the programme today. The world is looking toward India for supply technology, innovation, and talent to cater to the greater demand for digital products.

The MeitY Startup Hub is a national platform focused on promoting technology innovation, start-ups, and the creation of intellectual properties. Today, it has around more than three thousand tech startups supported, with a vision to ramp it up to more than ten thousand startups in the next three to five years.

7 India to assume the Presidency of G20 for one year

India will assume the Presidency of the G20 for one year from 1st December this year to 30 November next year.  India is expected to host over two hundred G20 meetings across the country. 

The G20 Leaders' Summit at the level of Heads of State and Government is scheduled to be held on 9 and 10th September next year in New Delhi.

The G20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world’s major developed and developing economies. It comprises 19 countries Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK, USA, and the European Union. Collectively, the G20 accounts for 85 per cent of global GDP, 75 per cent of international trade, and two-thirds of the world population, making it the premier forum for international economic cooperation.

8 Joint Entrance Examination Advanced -2022 result declared

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced -2022 result has been declared. R K Shishir is the top ranker in the common rank list while Tanishka Kabra is the female topper.

A total of 40712 candidates have qualified JEE (Advanced) this year. Of the total qualified, 6516 candidates are females.  

The JEE Advanced is for admission to undergraduate courses at the Indian Institutes of Technology and other participating institutions of technical education.

9 MDL launches 3rd Stealth Frigate of Project 17A ‘Taragiri’

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) launched the third Stealth Frigate of Project 17A ‘Taragiri’ on Sunday. The vessel has an approximate launch weight of 3510 Tons.

The ship is designed by the Indian Navy’s in-house design organisation viz. Bureau of Naval Design.

The 149.02 M long & 17.8 M wide ship, is propelled by a CODOG combination of two Gas Turbines and 02 Main Diesel Engines which are designed to achieve a speed of over 28 knots at a displacement of approx. 6670 Tons.

This ship has been built using Integrated construction methodology which involves hull blocks construction in different geographical locations and integration/erection on Slipway at MDL.

10 Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passes away at 99; PM Modi condoles

Dwarka-Sharda Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passed away on Sunday at Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh. He was 99 years old. He breathed his last at the Shridham Jhoteshwar Ashram in Narsinghpur. The funeral will take place on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was deeply saddened by the demise of Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati. “My condolences to his followers in this time of grief. Om Shanti!” he wrote.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in his tweet said, the incomparable contribution of Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati ji to the Indian knowledge tradition will be remembered by the whole world for eternity. I bow to the feet of revered Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati ji with infinite reverence, he added.
