Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has launched the Web Portal for PM's Excellence Award. The registration for the Award began yesterday. Speaking after the launch, the Minister said, the entire concept and format of the PM's Excellence Award has undergone a revolutionary change since 2014. Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India’s governance model has become a Jan Andolan with people responding to the Prime Minister’s call for Jan Bhagidari in major schemes. He asserted that officers must become a facilitator to bring the “Ease of Life” for the common man.

The Minister also added that the prize money was also doubled this year from 10 lakh rupees to 20 lakh rupees to the awarded District or Organization. He informed that it is now mandatory for all District Collectors to apply for the Award. At the same time, he noted with satisfaction that from 80 districts in 2015, for the last two three years all districts are participating in the award scheme.

2 PM Modi to visit Manipur and Tripura, to launch several development projects worth over 4,800 crore rupees

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur and Tripura today. Around 11 AM, Mr. Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 22 Developmental Projects worth over 4,800 crore rupees in Imphal. Thereafter, around 2 PM, in Agartala, Prime Minister will inaugurate the New Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport and will also launch two key development initiatives.

In Manipur, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 13 Projects worth around 1,850 crore rupees and lay the foundation stone of 9 projects worth around 2,950 crore rupees. These projects relate to diverse sectors such as Road Infrastructure, Drinking Water Supply, Health, Urban Development, Housing, Information Technology, Skill Development, Art, and Culture, among others.

AIR Correspondent reports, The inaugural and foundation laying program will be held at Hatta Kangjeibung in Imphal where he will also address a public gathering. Among the projects which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister this morning includes the refurbished and renovated Govindajee Temple at Imphal, Indian National Army Complex at Moirang, Integrated Command and Control Centre, Development of Western Riverfront of Imphal River Phase One, and Development of Mall Road at Thangal Bazar Phase One.

3 PM Modi offers prayers at Augurnath temple in Meerut

Prime Minister Narendra Modi after arriving in Meerut offered prayers at Augurnath temple in Meerut. He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Mr. Modi paid floral tributes at Shaheed Smarak in Meerut Cantt.

Before laying the foundation stone of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, the Prime Minister interacted with Sportspersons from Uttar Pradesh at the venue.

4 PM Modi to inaugurate and lay foundation stone of 22 Developmental Projects worth over 4,800 crore rupees in Imphal on 4th Jan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur and Tripura tomorrow. He will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 22 Developmental Projects worth over four thousand 800 crore rupees in Imphal.

In Manipur, Mr Modi will inaugurate 13 Projects worth around one thousand 850 crore rupees and lay the foundation stone of nine projects worth around two thousand 950 crore rupees.

These projects relate to diverse sectors such as Road Infrastructure, Drinking Water Supply, Health, Urban Development, Housing, Skill Development, Art and Culture, among others. In line with the countrywide projects to improve connectivity, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of construction of five National Highway Projects to be built at a cost of more than one thousand 700 crore rupees. The construction of these highways with a cumulative length of more than 110 kilometres, will be a major step to improve the road connectivity of the region.

At around 2 PM, in Agartala, Prime Minister will inaugurate the New Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport and will also launch two key development initiatives. The new building of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, built at a cost of about 450 crore rupees, is a state of art building spread over 30 thousand square metres having modern facilities and supported by the latest IT network-integrated system. The development of the new terminal building is an effort in line with the Prime Minister's endeavour to provide modern facilities in all airports across the country.

5 Vice President Venkaiah Naidu to inaugurate Arts and Science Colleges in Lakshadweep tomorrow

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Kochi enroute to Lakshadweep this morning. He was received at the Naval Airport by the Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev, Kochi Mayor M Anil Kumar, Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command Rear Admiral  Antony George and other officials.

Later, he left for Agatti island in Lakshadweep.

Tomorrow, the Vice President will inaugurate the Arts and Science Colleges established at Kadamat and Andrott islands at a function to be held at Kadmat.

6 PM launches 23 projects worth over Rs 17,500 cr at Haldwani in Uttarakhand; Says, present decade belongs to Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation of 23 projects worth 17,500 crore rupees at Haldwani in Uttarakhand yesterday. These projects cover a wide array of sectors and areas across the State including irrigation, road, housing, health infrastructure, industry, sanitation and drinking water supply.

The projects included laying the foundation stone of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Haldwani, Lakhwar Multipurpose Project, a hydropower facility in Pithoragarh, multiple road projects across the State under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna and strategically important Tanakpur-Pithoragarh Road project to improve the connectivity of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, among others.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of Aroma Park at Kashipur and Plastic Industrial Park at Sitarganj.

In line with the Prime Minister’s endeavour to expand the medical infrastructure of the State and provide world-class medical facilities in different parts of the country, the foundation stones of AIIMS, Rishikesh Satellite Centre at Udham Singh Nagar and Jagjivan Ram Government Medical College at Pithoragarh were also laid.

7 India welcomes Egypt as 4th member of BRICS New Development Bank

India has welcomed Egypt as the fourth new member of BRICS New Development Bank. The External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, Bangladesh, UAE, and Uruguay joined in September this year. Mr. Bagchi said, membership expansion enables New Development Bank to position itself as a premier development institution for emerging economies.

The New Development Bank aims to mobilize resources for development projects in BRICS, emerging economies, and developing countries.

8 Uttarakhand: PM Modi to inaugurate and lay foundation stone of 23 projects worth over 17,500 crore in Haldwani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haldwani in Uttarakhand today. Mr Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 23 projects worth over 17 thousand 500 crore rupees. Among the 23 projects, foundation stone will be laid for 17 projects worth over 14 thousand 100 crore rupees.

These projects cover a wide array of sectors and areas across the state including irrigation, road, housing, health infrastructure, industry, sanitation, and drinking water supply. The programme will witness inauguration of six projects including multiple road widening projects, a hydropower project in Pithoragarh and projects to improve sewerage network in Nainital. The cumulative cost of the projects being inaugurated is over 3400 crore rupees.

Mr Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Lakhwar Multipurpose Project to be built at the cost of about 5,750 crore rupees. This project was first conceived in 1976 and was lying pending for many years. The Prime Minister’s vision to prioritise long-pending projects is the force behind the project's foundation stone being laid. This project of national importance will enable irrigation of about 34,000 hectares of additional land, produce 300 MW hydropower and supply drinking water to the six states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.

9 Schools and Colleges closed in Delhi as government sounds Yellow Alert for Covid 19

In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, schools, colleges, cinema halls, spas, gyms, multiplexes, banquet halls, auditoriums and sports complexes have been closed in the national capital with immediate effect. Night curfew has been imposed in the city from 10 PM to 5 AM. Restrictions have been put in place as a yellow alert has been sounded in Delhi under the Graded Response Action Plan.

As per the Delhi Disaster Management Authority order, the Delhi Metro and buses will operate at 50 percent seating capacity with no standing passengers. Restaurants are allowed 50 percent seating capacity from 8 AM to 10 PM and bars are allowed with 50 percent seating capacity from 12 noon to 10 PM. Political, religious and festival gatherings have been banned. A maximum of 20 persons can attend funerals and weddings. In its order, the DDMA said weddings can only be done at home.

Shops in malls will operate on an odd-even basis in the city. Religious places will be open but no visitors will be allowed. Only walking, running and playing are allowed in public parks and gardens and not picnics.

10 PM Modi inaugurates completed section of Kanpur Metro Rail and Bina-Panki multi-product pipeline

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to students and youth of the country to work for making an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Speaking at the 54th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur yesterday, the Prime Minister urged students to have dreams, turn them into resolutions and achieve them. He said in the last seven years, his government has taken several steps to achieve the goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the students of IIT can play an important role in it.
 
During his visit to Kanpur Mr Modi also inaugurated the completed section of the Metro Rail Project in the city. This section is nine-kilometre long from IIT, Kanpur to Moti Jheel. The Prime Minister inspected the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and undertook a metro ride from IIT Metro Station to Geeta Nagar. The Prime Minister said, the double engine government of Uttar Pradesh yesterday is trying to make up for the loss of time in the past and it is working at double speed.

The entire length of the Metro Rail Project in Kanpur is 32 kilometres and is being built at a cost of over 11,000 crore rupees.
